Monday Road Crashes: 15 Killed In Anambra, Ogun

Five people were confirmed dead in Ogun while seven others were
wounded on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

No fewer than 15 people have been killed and dozens injured in a
multiple auto crashes in Ogun and Anambra states.

The crashes were recorded on Monday.

Five people were confirmed dead in Ogun while seven others were
wounded on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

According to the Public Education Officer, Federal Road Safety Corps,
Ogun State Command, Florence Okpe, said in a statement that the
accident occurred around Onigari in Odeda local council.

Okpe said the crash that involved six vehicles (Toyota Corolla with
number plate APP 675 BH; a brown Sienna with number plate MUS 932 FE;
a red Mack Iveco truck with number plate JGB 874 XA; a brown Toyota
Camry with number plate EW 909 APP, and two white Toyota Hiace buses
with number plates ABE 24 LG and APH 582 AAA) occurred about 1 pm and
involved 40 people.

Some of the casualties were taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, while
the FRSC patrol team from Oluyole evacuated the other victims to the
University College Hospital, Ibadan.

The statement said, “The FRSC, Ogun State Sector Commander, Clement
Oladele, expressed condolences to the dead victims’ families and quick
recovery to the injured victims. He advised relations of the crash
victims to contact the FRSC command in Ogunmakin for details of the
crash. The sector commander advised motorists to reduce their speed in
the rain and around construction areas to prevent avoidable road
traffic crashes.”

Meanwhile, in Anambra State, at least 10 people died and many others
injured in a road crash at Agulu in Anaocha as a truck with
registration number XB 238 MBA reportedly rammed into four vehicles.

Haruna Mohammed,  the police spokesman in the state, confirmed the crash.
