The Ekiti State Police Command has raised the alarm over the massive flow of motorcycle into the state.

The command claimed that the motorcycles could be used to perpetrate crime if not properly contained.

Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr Asuquo Amba, in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mr Sunday Abutu, noted that the riders were suspected criminals, warning the public to be wary of their activities.

“Information at our disposal has it that these suspected persons could cause criminal acts in no distant time, ranging from stealing, armed robbery and kidnapping.

“In view of this, the Commissioner of Police has directed that all motorcycles across the state must be properly registered with the relevant authorities and relevant document of ownership/registration.

“The police shall henceforth arrest, impound and prosecute anybody (motorcyclist) found perpetrating criminal acts,” Amba said.

He asked members of the public to report any suspicious movement or activities to the police in order to curb them before criminal acts are committed.
