The Nigerian Government on Wednesday said the closure of all local and international airports in the country would be extended by four weeks due to the Coronavirus outbreak.

This was disclosed by Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, at the briefing of the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19 on Wednesday.

He said, “Tomorrow marks the last day for the enforcement of the closure of Nigeria’s airspace to flights.

“We have assessed the situation in the aviation industry and have come to the conclusion that given the facts available to us and based on the advice of experts, the ban on all flights will be extended for an additional four weeks.”

The Nigerian Government had on March 21 announced the closure of all the country’s airports to all international flights as part of intensive measures being taken to prevent the Coronavirus outbreak in the country.
