Residents of Katsina State have taken to various social media platforms to call for prayers over rising insecurity in the state.

Katsina has seen increased attacks by armed bandits, who kidnap and maim citizens while torching entire villages.

More recently, Batsari and Safana local government areas became the hardest hit with attacks that are frequent and deadly without government intervention.

Aminu Masari, governor of the state, has been accused of letting the people down after he offered amnesty to bandits terrorising the area.

Twitter user, Abdul Gidado @AbdulGidadoo, called on President Muhammadu Buhari to fulfil his campaign promise in 2015 and end insecurity in the state.

@Shuiab_izge called for an end to the bloodshed. He said, "People are dying in Katsina for the crime they didn’t commit. Government need to do something as a matter of urgency to protect life and property of innocent citizens. Enough of the bloodshed."

Zannah @usyy said, "Please if you come across this, pray for Batsari LG of #Katsina. They're currently being attacked and killed by bandits and seems there's no response from the government and security personnel about the casualties. Security personnel need to intervene and save people's lives asap."

Other LGA's affected by the banditry include, Batsari, Jibia, Danmusa, Kankara, Safana, Faskari, Sabuwa and Dandume.
