Joe Biden has accepted his election as the 46th President of the United States of America.
Biden had been neck to neck with incumbent president Donald Trump in what is being considered the tightest race in American history.
He will become the 46th President of the United States of America while Kamala Harris will become the first female and black person to become Vice President.
In a statement accepting victory on Twitter, he said, "America, I'm honoured that you have chosen me to lead our great country.
"The work ahead of us will be hard, but I promise you this: I will be a President for all Americans — whether you voted for me or not.
"I will keep the faith that you have placed in me."
Meanwhile, he is expected to deliver a victory speech in his hometown of Wilmington, Delaware shortly.
