Attack On Convoy: Buhari meets Ortom in Aso Villa

Ortom said he was pleased with Buhari’s reaction to the development, adding that they shared ideas on how to manage the crisis trailing the development.

President Muhammadu Buhari has met with Benue Governor, Samuel Ortom, in the State House, Abuja over the recent attempt on his life by gunmen.

Speaking to State House correspondents after the meeting on Tuesday, Ortom said he was pleased with Buhari’s reaction to the development, adding that they shared ideas on how to manage the crisis trailing the development.

Ortom was attacked by about 15 gunmen suspected to be herdsmen while on a visit to his farm in the state.

He alleged that the gunmen trailed his convoy to the river bank where he was on foot with his security details and opened fire on them.

The attack on Ortom has generated public condemnations from his colleagues in the Nigeria Governors’ Forum, who described the development as shocking and a rude awakening.

The President had on Sunday ordered security agencies to carry out what he called an “open and transparent” investigation into the attack.
