Internet Fraudsters Clash With EFCC Operatives In Osun, Prevent Seizure Of 25 Posh Vehicles By Anti-graft Unit

Some youths suspected to be internet fraudsters, popularly called Yahoo boys, have reportedly resisted arrest by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in Osogbo, the Osun state capital on Tuesday.

SaharaReporters learnt that the EFCC operation was not successful in the state capital as they were ambushed on their way out after arresting some suspects and seizing about 25 exotic cars from suspected Internet fraudsters.

It was reported that the operatives had to flee for safety to avoid being mobbed by the angry youths, who lit a bonfire at a popular junction called Lameco in the city.

Osun police command spokesperson, Yemisi Opalola confirmed the incident, adding that they had been trying to control the situation from escalating further.

“We are aware of the situation, we are now trying to appease the protesters and clear the bonfire so that people can go about their lawful duties without fear of harassment," she said.
