A senior officer is seen addressing his colleagues and asking them to put the new Chief of Army Staff "in the hands of God".
Soldiers at the Headquarters Theatre Command of the counter-terrorism military outfit in the North-East, code-named Operation Hadin Kai, were jubilant at the announcement of Major General Farouk Yahaya as the new Chief of Army Staff.
Videos show the soldiers celebrating the appointment of Yahaya.
A military officer is seen in the videos asking others to pray for the new army chief and also tell their family members to do the same.
In the videos seen by SaharaReporters, a senior officer is seen addressing his colleagues and asking them to put the new Chief of Army Staff "in the hands of God".
His predecessor, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru was killed in a military plane crash along with 10 other officers last Friday in Kaduna.
"Your happiness, it has been registered, the COAS (Chief of Army Staff) is standing right before you. We will all retire back to your DIV. There is going to be a special moment that will be organised," a military officer addressing his colleagues said.
"When you go back, you yourself, your family, your people back home, tell them to submit the new COAS (Chief of Army Staff) in the hands of Ģod, by praying fervently to Allah, for guidance, direction and his protection. We will have cause to celebrate and jubilate at the end of his tenure," the officer added.
