The bandits were said to have fled Zamfara and established a new camp in a forest in the Maiha Local Government Area of Adamawa state.

Chairman of Maiha Local Government Area, Idi Amin, disclosed this to SaharaReporters on Thursday and commended the Army for the feat.

He said, "I thank God that the combined team of military and our local hunters have been able to kill bandits who fled Zamfara to our state.

"We received credible information that they (bandits) have established a new camp in our forest here.

"We did not waste time, so we informed the military and also mobilised our local hunters who swooped on the hideout of the bandits and killed all of them.

"This led to recovery of dangerous weapons, including 11 rocket launchers and 3 grenades," he said.

The council chairman, however, urged residents to be vigilant and report suspicious movements of people within their area.

Maiha council shares international border with Cameroon Republic.
