The Economic and Financial Commission (EFCC) says its Chairman, Abdulrasheed Bawa, is well after he slumped earlier on Thursday.
This was made known in a statement issued by the organisation’s Head of Media and Publicity, Wilson Uwujaren.
The commission said the chairman was giving a goodwill message at an event at the Presidential Villa, felt unwell and decided to return to his seat.
The statement reads in full: “The Chairman of the Economic and Financial Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa is hale and hearty.
“This clarification became necessary following an incident today, September 16, 2021, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja where he was giving a goodwill message to the National Identity Day celebration, felt unwell and had to return to his seat.
“He has since received medical attention and is due back at his desk.”
Earlier, Bawa slumped at the third National Identity Day celebration at the Banquet Hall Villa.
Bawa was delivering a goodwill message when he suddenly stopped and went pale.
The Minister of Communications and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, and other government officials held him and guided him out of the hall after a while.
Bawa was nominated as the substantive Chairman of the EFCC on February 16, 2021, and on February 24, 2021, he was confirmed by the National Assembly as the Executive Chairman.
He officially took over from Ibrahim Magu, the former acting Chairman of the Commission.
