According to a video seen by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, one of the protesters filming the event was shouting, “Run! They have started again!” as they scampered for safety in the midst of gun-wielding, power-drunk policemen.

According to a video obtained by SaharaReporters on Wednesday, the security agents did not allow the peaceful protesters in their peaceful demonstration during the one-year memorial #EndSARS Memorial.

One of the protesters was seen shouting and yelling at the police, “How much are they paying you? If you’ll kill me, I will go. The country is as bad as your uniform! It will remain you in your suffering! This country is worse!”

Another protester was saying, “Shoot. Let’s say the truth! If you want to shoot, shoot!”

Others were chanting #EndSARS Remembrance songs in honour of the ‘heroes’ killed by the military men at Lekki Toll Gate in Lagos and other parts of the country on October 20, 2020.

In Lekki Toll Gate, at the venue of the massacre that happened a year ago while others were injured as orchestrated by the Nigerian government, men of the Lagos Police Command have also arrested two protesters, one reportedly being a journalist of the LegitTV.

The Nigerian youths and other victims of police brutality rose across the country last year to demonstrate against the excesses of a tactical police unit known then as Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) and other bad governance emanating from President Muhammadu Buhari regime.

But, exactly a year ago, soldiers appeared at the scene of the protest in Lekki which has been most peaceful during the protests and opened live bullets at protesters which resulted in deaths and others sustained injuries till today.
