African Firm Releases ‘Soro Soke’ Movie To Mark #EndSARS First Anniversary

The new film, which is titled “Soro Soke” seeks to revive debates about #EndSARS and the circumstances that birthed the historic movement, the producer of the movie, a firm, African Broadway Inc, said.

A new movie has been released to mark the first anniversary of the #ENDSARS protest in the country.
The new film, which is titled “Soro Soke” seeks to revive debates about #EndSARS and the circumstances that birthed the historic movement, the producer of the movie, a firm, African Broadway Inc, said.

The film narrates the horrific escapades of the Nigeria Police Force and its defunct brutal department, Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS), that have been accused of decades of brutality and human rights abuses.
The #EndSARS movement which actually started a few years before the 2020 protest went into full swing from October 7, 2020 with demonstrations across major cities in the country.
The protests gained widespread acceptance both on the streets and on social media as celebrities added their voices in support of the movement.
On October 11, 2020, Adamu Mohammed, the former inspector-general of police, announced the disbandment of SARS, and on the same day, the protesters presented a five-point demand to the federal government.
However, despite the disbandment of SARS, the protests continued and were later hijacked by hoodlums.
“A state-of-the-art musical theatre production that commemorates the victims of the ENDSARS movement in Nigeria; African Broadway Inc. is a Non-Profit organisation exists to promote a better appreciation of the various African cultures and share African stories to all through fun and exciting theatrical performances.
“African Broadway promotes the African heritage through events like musical theatre productions and concerts, with the aim of contributing immensely to the cultural knowledge and entertainment in the United States and the rest of the world.
“Today the organisation announced that they shall be hosting a show in Fair Lawn, NJ on November, 27th, 2021 at 6:30 PM EST to commemorate the one year anniversary of the ENDSARS protests that took place in the streets of Nigeria October 2020,” the producer said in a statement.
