According to reports, the US top diplomat’s motorcade drove into the presidential complex at about 3.47pm for a scheduled meeting with the president in his office.
After the meeting with Buhari, Blinken is expected to proceed to the office of the Vice President Yemi Osinbajo where they will sign some agreements between Nigeria and the US.
Blinken will therefore hold a joint press conference with Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama, before departing the presidential villa.
Meanwhile, some days ago, Eva Joly, an anti-corruption activist and co-founder, Corruption Hunters’ Network, in an open letter to Blinken, asked the US Secretary of State to tell Buhari during their meeting to ensure Nigeria’s corruption fighters have “a safe and open operating environment” in which to carry out their vitally important work.”
