Armed Forces Day: Nigerian Government Orders Closure Of Abuja Roads, Federal Secretariat

The government ordered the closure of roads accessing Arcade, the phase I, II and III of the Federal Secretariat complexes and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abuja.

The Nigerian government on Friday announced preparation for the 2021 Nigeria Armed Forces Day.

Folasade Yemi-Esan, Head of Civil Service of the Federation, gave the directive in a statement by AbudulGaniyu Aminu, Director of Communications at the HOCSF.

The celebration will climax with the wreath laying ceremony by President Muhammadu Buhari, senior government officials and members of the Diplomatic Corps.

The statement reads, “The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, Dr Folasade Yemi-Esan, is pleased to inform ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) and indeed the general public of the closure of access roads to the Arcade, Federal Secretariat Complex and environs on Friday by 2:00 p.m prompt.

“This is in view of the upcoming activities marking the 2022 celebration of the Armed Forces Remembrance Day set aside to honour our fallen heroes.”

The AFRD is observed every January 15 to honour fallen heroes of the nation’s armed forces in various wars and national assignments.
