Cross Rivers Governor, Ben Ayade Loses Ruling APC Senatorial Ticket

Ayade, also a presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC), had contested against Adams Cecelia and Martin Orim.

Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State has lost his bid to represent the northern senatorial district of the state in the senate when he concludes his two-term tenure next year.

According to the result announced after the conclusion of the primary exercise, the governor polled 52 votes to crash out against Adams who scored 140 while Orim scored 61 votes.
SaharaReporters had reported how Ayade secretly obtained senatorial nomination form of the ruling party despite being a presidential aspirant.
On April 26, he declared his interest to run for the office of the President.
The governor had claimed to have secured the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari, leading to his disclosure to contest for the presidential ticket of the party.
