I left for the United States for a two-week holiday on the 27th of December 2011, completely unaware that the federal government would suddenly withdraw petrol subsidy on the 1st of January 2012. I wish I stayed behind to be part this early protests against this satanic move by the federal government. But I will be back in a few days to be a part of any subsequent protests.

The sudden withdrawal of the subsidy is nothing but a complete disservice to the masses of our great country. This is because in any given situation the primary function of government is to protect the weak from the powerful; to protect the defenseless many from the powerful few; to protect the poor from the manipulative tendencies of the rich. That is why the concept of government arose in the first place from Thomas Hobbes state of nature. Any economic theory that does not promote these principles is a bad economic theory. By removing the subsidy on petroleum products government has shirked these responsibilities and has thrown the masses to the dogs. We are now in the state of nature in the petroleum sector.

By its own arguments about the 'powerful few' in the petroleum sector that take undue advantage of subsidy to enrich themselves, government has finally admitted that it cannot confront these individuals, tackle the corruption in the sector and bring them to book. Instead government has decided to turn the barrel of its gun on the defenseless masses and to pour its venom on them via the removal of the subsidy.

This decision is callous, it is wicked and insensitive. I call on all Nigerians to resist this policy and continue to insist that government properly plays its role of managing the subsidy program to eliminate waste and check corruption in the system. We cannot suffer for the ineptitude of the government. That is what the removal of subsidy is all about. We have a right to protest peacefully and we should continue to do so until this policy is reversed.

on my part i am asking anybody with credible information and evidence as to the corruption in the petroleum sector to come forward with them so that i can proceed to court to ask for the right of private prosecution to bring them to justice. We cannot fold our arms and wait for the thief to catch the thief.

Thank you

KEYAMOS MOM IS FROMNOGUN STATE-DAD DELTA STATE

I said the importation of fuel must end-period. I dont know a thing about subsidy. All I know is that we are old enough to fend for ourselves and not have us import petrol for the past 30yrs-while we keep on sabotaging our refineries. At least if for nothing, GEJ should be commended for taking the bull by the horn, by bringing the importation of taxic waste as fuel to an end-we have become so lazy, even states would rather wait for d ND to spoon feed them, than generate funds internally to care for their citizens. They are all become like the fuel importers club. Who instead of erecting refineries, prefer to import fuel into the 9ja. Rather than hire workers to operate the refineries for them or look for markets outside the shores of the country for their products. Buharis PTF did not fall from the moon. It was created from the resources of the increase in the price of fuel. So why not wait to have egg heads like Kolade show us how to equip our hospitals the Buhari way?

OHA or whatever name you

OHA or whatever name you bear. you seem so ignorant of what jona and his cohorts are doing to nigerian. i will have love to educate your illiteracy but it appears to me you are too dumb for any education. wait and see where this will bring jona. FUCK...OFF

@ Deri: Subsidy is gone-let us move forward with new ideas

If you were old enough during Buhari era you should understand that the queuing indicated orderliness in everything which was part of WAI (in case you don't know the meaning "War Against Indiscipline"). How many citizen can afford those essential commodities in this era of your GEJ.
If your are not blind/bias, you would have seen and felt the impact of PTF in our higher institutions, check PTI in Delta State. Where does government from Obasanjo - GEJ keep those money; in their foreign bank account?
What good scheme has your GEJ introduced; mention one? Is it the oil spillage in Nigeria on and off-shore or insecurity that has become order of the day in the Country or inactive of GEJ to bomb attacks/Spillage in Niger-delta. No sane person will say those criticize GEJ are bad-bellies. What is bad belly in asking GEJ to perform as he promised and if can't do so, he should honourably resind.

have been reading comments

have been reading comments about deri was wondering why some oppose him, then i read his write up and thought to myself can a person be this foolish and i concluded no,its not possible its either hes paid or he has brain damage,if he is paid then his boss should fire him his facts are not right and he show it so much that he is paid, paid pipers should be more decent in their presentation,if he has brain damage our prayer is that if he has children lord dont let them suffer from the madness of deri their father.he mentioned malaysia have been to malaysia before now and newyork before now, malaysia is made now idiot.

you sense thing subsidy

you sense thing subsidy removal is what mr president and his vice rogue will spend so much on on their stationery and kictchen, subsidy removal is a way to pay for past and future corruption at d expense of the masses u dull head

honestly aaron,this your

honestly aaron, this your comment is very dull i know u will kick but am sure u are not doing well cause u dont sound like a thinker to pass such comment about mr keyamo and i already know what your reply would be.

nigerian presidents can never

nigerian presidents can never be transparent because nigerians have never risen up to demand for their rights, people are always talking under their nose its time to all participate in the protest, they cant cut bcos their bellies are to fat

"That podgy clown from the

"That podgy clown from the IMF will soon realise that it's been a long time since ugly OBJ's Nigeria."

You mean the ugly b%#ch heading that organization whose main goal is to keep 3rd world nations in perpetual slavery.
As for Jona, so now that he can afford to wear Ostrish skin shoes he wants to make sure those that currently wear flip-flops to church on Sundays go bare-footed, right?
It really beats me how anyone can support this move knowing sully well that the majority of the people are barely hanging on right now and will be unable to have one full meal per day once this sails through. If you have access to the presidency and share in the looted funds with them, it doesn't mean you should be so myopic and think that every one else is just like you and can afford the new price of petrol. Transportation is the 2nd factor that affect food prices - weather is 1st.

In Absolute Agreement with Frank-White Uche

Jonathan is a total dissapointment to the teeming Nigerian populace that fell for his so called messianic posture. A man who couldnt even defend his right as a vice president and allowed that Turai and her cohorts to trample on him so badly until Nigerians came to his rescue can not be bold enough to fight for the interest of Nigerians. Jonathan was the last hope of Nigerians for an orderly change of the system that has kept Nigeria on the path of regression for decades. It is time for a coordinated effort to overthrow that system and replace it with an equitable and progressive one. Long Live the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

@Deri is as dumb as jonathan ignore him.

Deri Deri Deri, how many times did i call you?

Enyi Oha are you for real?

What have you done in your own right as a Nigerian to change the overtly stupid and evil system in Nigeria?. Festus Keyamo is highly regarded and revered by Nigerians for his antecedents in the efforts to fashion out a new Nigeria that is equitable and progressive. It is idiotic comments like yours intended only as an intimidating attempt to stop spineless "activists" from doing the right thing for the country that has encouraged the CLUELESS IDIOTIC leadership class we have in Nigeria. If you have no positive contribution to make, dont attempt to stop those who do unless of course if you are a beneficiary the current order of things.

Please return to Nigeria asap!

Mr. Keyamo,

Please suspend your vacation and heed this national call to duty! All hands on deck, we need you now!

Fetus while you were ( in the

Fetus while you were ( in the us on vacation) I guess you were not driving, if not
You would have cut your holiday short due to high cost of fuel in America

reply to limits of miscyhief masquerading as activism - 1

Why dont you leave mr Kayamo alone. should you not be grateful to his initiative and putting himself on the line to call on nigerian to stand up and end corruption. Its either you are very ignorant or you are totally out of it. you should team up with someone that has taken the position of "enough is enough" than the stupid eye service of many nigerrians. shame on you. it because of people like you that the nation is far behind most nations irespective of their wealth. aganin shame on you.

You must be mad with this

You must be mad with this your comment. What good does GEJ mean. I know you have been paid.

did you watch channels tv

did you watch channels tv when prof utomi, prof david west, and olisa agbakoba all showed the ineptitude of government, with very revealing facts and figures about the scam they call fuel subsidy or Dr Izien's very analytical take on the true price of fuel. Have you burnt ur conscience with a hot iron that you cannot see ahead,at least i saw PTF materials in hospitals and schools, pray what has Jonathan done, did it take Fashola forever to even impact lagos no matter how minimal.By the way Keyamo is a Deltan and more consistent than several persons i know of,if a private citizen offers his service to fight for EFCC, doesn't that tell u that he knows they will want to bungle it.You cannot ask him to do what you cannot offer yourself that is very immoral in any religion.Deri does shows the very contradictions of nigeria, we are in a sad shape.

LIMITS OF MISCHIEF MASQUERADING AS ACTIVISM- 1

MR KEYAMO, WITH DUE RESPECT TO YOUR RIGHTS AS A NIGERIAN,YOU MUST KNOW THE LIMITS OF TENDENTIOUS POLULISM WHICH YOU MASQURADE AS ACTIVISM.OR IF YOU KNOW EVERYTHING AND EVERY 'RIGHT' OF NIGERIANS,WHY DO YOU NOT CANVASS FOR CHAPTER 2 OF THE 1999 CONSTITUTION TO BE JUSTICIABLE?.WHY NOT THROW YOUR HAT IN THE RING OF POLITICS, BECOME THE PRESIDENT AND FIGHT CORRUPTION YOUR OWN WAY INSTEAD OF WAITING FOR PEOPLE TO SUPPLY YOU EVIDENCE WITH WHICH TO GO TO COURT?DOES CORRUPTION HAVE RECEIPT? GEJ IS IN A VANTAGE POSITION TO SEE THE WHOLE ELEPHANT AND HAS BEEN COURAGEOUS ENOUGH TO COME UP WITH A GRAND POLICY TO ELIMINATE ECONOMIC AND BUREAUCRATIC CORRUPTION IN THE OIL SECTOR AND YOU PREFER THE STATUS QUO ANTE? WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ROOT OUT CORRUPTION IN THE JUDICIARY OR YOU ARE WAITING FOR ME TO GIVE YOU EVIDENCE TO FIGHT JUDICIAL CORRUPTION?SUBSIDY REMOVAL IS A SHORT TERM PAIN TO HERALD INTERMEDIATE GAINS FOR THE COMMON MAN ON A SUSTAINABLE BASIS.

"IT WILL PAY NAIJA IN THE LONG RUN"

Mr moses you can say this because you are not directly impacted right now with the "subsidy" removal. you are not in Naija to feel the way we do. how has Gov'mt managed all other resources as a proof that the compulsory "PETROLEUM TAX" on the poor masses in the form of extra pay for fuel will be judiciously utilised for the benefit of the generality of Naija masses.

THE GOVERNMENT IS INSENSITIVE AND REFUSED ANY SELF SACRIFICE.

David Cameron the UK prime minister gave up his pay,I must say that he is from a wealthy home, but this is a genuine sacrifice inorder to help the economy of his country. The wealthy nations and advanced economies of the world all made one form of sacrifice or the other in order to adjust to the prevailing economic problems of the world economy,so the problem with Nigeria is not if we must sacrifice, but how?
The President and his vice did not give a damn to inform us that they intend to spend 1BN NAIRA for thier kitchens, apart from thier salaries and allowances, our legislators are the highest payed in the world. The President refused to publicly declare his assets, so why does he expect trust and support from Nigerians?
There is no public transportation in Nigeria and no social services to care for the poor and unemployed, get sick as a poor person and you die.The insensitivity is mind blowing,I belive Mr Jonathan should have made more preparations before this.

WHAT REALLY ARE THE ISSUES

MOST SENSIBLE CONTRIBUTION SEEN SO FAR IN THE LAST 3 DAYS.

An angry man will speak with his eyes close, A sensible angry man will speak with his mouth closed

Nigerian should wake up from the fools paradise. The Elites, Civil Societies, Labour Unions, Elected Representatives have all failed us. Most annoyingly is the fact that the road side tout has joined them by taking us for granted. When they are through with this exercise, they go overseas for vacation. Where do we Go?

Keyamo

Keyamo has suddenly found his voice to criticize the government soon after his benefactor was removed from office at EFCC, or could it be a coincidence?

@Deri, I have always agreed

@Deri, I have always agreed with you, but on this you shot yourself in the foot. Keyamo is not from Ogun State but from Niger Delta. If he is eating Nigeria money, its a case of deltans eating oil money just as you are also paid to laud image of your pay master.

"The Thief To Catch The Thief" ...Festus Kayemo, esq.

Dumbo is a callous and very wicked Chimp who only nods at the last adviser. Nothing good can ever come out of those aborigines, because they have the wrong attitude towards everything. To them it's "our turn to chop" with little regard for others. As if oyl is found only in their polluted enclaves. While the rest of the country suffers at their ineptitude, the fools think they can milk the country dry with Dumbo's tenure. How stupid. The man cannot fight the cabal because they funded his fraudulent election, he cannot perform because he is untrainable (Dunce, 1st class), he cannot fight corruption because both he and his drum, Patience are neck-deep corrupt, he cannot see the masses' suffering because he's constantly drunk, he cannot provide security because he's a natural coward...etc.

Oga Kayemo, forget it. He will eventually back down. That podgy clown from the IMF will soon realise that it's been a long time since ugly OBJ's Nigeria. Nigerians are Older and Wiser!

Re: Ejiro Okene

Blessed are the wise for they shall see the evil ways of Jonathan. Like I told you will happen, the price of Okada has doubled in Lagos and I have less opportunity to go around looking for a job. And I am from South South.
