PHOTONEWS: Corruption Is Nigeria’s Fastest Growing Industry
corroptin must
before we start wart against corroption, we firt start from the govement housd.
The economics of corruption and corrupt practice in Nigeria
Fraud, corruption and corrupt practice have impacted and continue to affect the economy of the vast majority of the citizenry negatively. I postulate that fraud and corruption have become instruments of state policy, the application of which has stunted/distorted our country's economic growth and development. Our future (posterity) is at stake! In the wake of the financial/economic crises in Europe, Fund managers and investors have identified Thailand, Vietnam and Nigeria as offering the best investment oportunities worldwide. Our handicap is corruption, political instability and terrorism. The situation could be costly for Nigeria in terms of our ability to attract these investors. We have no option but to deal with these threats to the opportunities made available by the continued decline in Europe.

Curruption and Lack of Çapable President
Politicians and the civil servants are the two most currupt sectors in Nigeria. The organised Private Sector depend on the two sectors to do business with government. Only a President that has the courage can fight curruption , definately not Jonathan.
Corruption: New Buzz Word
Every season in Nigeria is defined by a buzz word, the current buzz word is Corruption. Corruption in Nigeria is not a new phenomenon and where are the evidences to show that this is the most corrupt government in comparison with past governments? We should know that the advent of social media and news blogs have promoted more accessibility to information than years past. Equally, the older the democratic process and institutions get, the more the awareness of the populace to government workings and are likely to ask questions. But, as usual in Nigeria we play politics with everything, a Professor should be more analytical. In years past, the subsidy scam will not even be known to the public talkless of calling for prosecution. Progress is being made, albeit, slow. Concern is that desperate politician do not derail the movement. I will be glad with slow progress than backward movement that alternative to democracy would give us.
Do something!
I think the way forward are firstly, we must step up massive public campaign with the view to revealing the evils of corruption. Corruption is not a tribal issue: which tribe is not suffering now; it is not a religious issues; and it is not a regional issue. It is only those who are benefiting from corruption that are not complaining even if they are not immune from some of its negative effects. Secondly, we must begin a rigorous search for alternative cures to many of the root causes of corruption. It may take time, but evil does not permanently triumph over good. So what will replace the corrupt methods when victory is achieved? Giving up is not a choice. Let us stop weeping for Nigeria. Do something positive, no matter how little!!!

I read an article which i consider awesome on corruption. Please find time to read and share; "The Farouk In Us http://t.co/NYaNLezE. The change we desire must start from us. It is amazing how curruption has become a culture. We do not need a soothsayer to tell us the country is heading for doom if we do not kill corruption instantly.
And What is the News?
Don't tell me that all these people gathered for this jamboree or fiesta to tell the world THAT CORRUPTION IS NIGERIA'S FASTEST GROWING INDUSTRY!
How many of them spoke out when FAROUK (the rat) collected bribe? Or when Justice Salami was engaged in clandestine telephone calls with a party to a case before his court?
As long as some people remain SELECTIVE about CONDEMNING CORRUPTION, IT WILL OVERTAKE HUSSEIN BOLT soon! Unfortunately, this Corruption Industry is right there on the STREET, from the market woman to the officials in the Lands Ministry and the Inland Revenue, Pensions Office, etc. The INDUSTRY cuts across every facet of society!
@Tayo Olayiwola - And this will remove corruption?
In other words, you are suggesting that 'Nigerians coming together and renegotiating their working agreement' would remove corruption? Very sound theory, indeed!
And what if after that the Ijebu man becomes corrupt in the S/W region? You will then advocate or propose for all the SW 'coming together and renegotiate their working agreement'.
Can you see the problem with such theory?
@ Hot Iron - Please lead the way!
Oya, take the lead and start the revolution and I will queue behind you. But will the revolution also consume that man on the street or in offices and the Banks, the Policeman, Immigration and Customs officers, the man in the Ministry, Local Government, who wait to be bribed before doing their work? Will the revolution also touch those workers that steal food and office supplies, like papers, pens and other stationery from work. Or, is that not also corruption?
In other words, will the revolution touch ALL corrupt Nigerians, or only a few? Don't forget that your leaders are a reflection of the society. They did not drop from heavens, but came from among you. They were already enmeshed in corruption before they became leaders. Remember "Egunje spoil Lagos" slogan, preached those days. After the revolution, will anybody still be left in Nigeria? Food for thought!
All the same, lead the revolution and I will follow!
Corruption nigeria fastest growing industry
I read in one of the comments above that the constutution nigeria is using presently is packaged by Abacha. If that is true, Iam sorry for nigeria.
useless crowd
Mark my word buhari or tuned bakare the useless fellow association of Nigeria will never get there.
If they like let the rent failed SAN like that confused man I saw there it won’t work.
Tunde Bakara is a big FOOL and Buhari is BOKO HARAM (forbidden) to Nigerians
LECTURES ARE A WASTE OF TIME
TOO TRUE SIR.IT IS HIGH TIME NIGERIANS TOOK THEIR DESTINY INTO THEIR OWN HANDS, LITERALLY.
The day we get a government
The day we get a government and a legislature that will levy capital punishment (death) on looters (contract inflation, diversion of security and similar votes) and heavy-weight corruption (e.g. oil-subsidy scam), that day, corruption will depart Nigeria. 1000 years-worth of sermonising cannot do it.
Corruption
The way forward is for the president to HONESTLY declare war on corruption and not be afraid of stepping on toes.
CORRUPTION CONTD...............
When there is a situation of no alternative to survive, corruption will be difficult to eradicate. The only quick solution to it is if the head is clean,it will trinkle down to the lower level and with way the government is going along with corruption, the solution is easier said than done. The other solution is the people's way, like the Arab spring thing...Are nigerians courageous and united enough to fight for their freedom and progress ? that is one thing that i doubt till now.
LECTURES ARE FOR COWARDS...PROTEST ARE FOR THE COURAGEOUS ONES..
Nigeria have passed the level at which write ups, lectures, seminars etc..will curb corruption. What people still dont realise is that corruption in nigeria have been indirectly legalised by the government, the government encourages and support corruption from the public to the private sector.Without provision for necessary infrastructure such as good roads, housing, power supply, transportation(mostly railnetwork)to springboard entrepreneurship development so as to minimise employment and to encourage older ones, most especially the public sector to retire at their rightful/truthful age, corruption will continue unabatedly.
Re: Story story
Story story! 99.9% of the people sited in that room will jump at the least opportunity for a government appointment in the same PDP led government today. We saw it with Segun Adeniyi, Reuben Abati and most recently Ribadu. In times past Reuben Abati would be one of the main speakers at such a gathering. After Ribadu was appointed we haven't heard much from him again, even in the face of recent embarrassing scandals on the sector he should be cleansing. We need selfless leaders which I dare say are lacking even in the ACN and their allies today. Most of the corruption we see is because the so called critics are hub-nubbing with the bad leaders in the dark! And we all know. Until we stop overt or covert approval of anti-social, selfish and stealing government officials officials and their cronies, they will not stop and keep saying in our face and to our back "story, story"!!!

The way forward is for
The way forward is for Nigerians to come together and renegotiate their working agreement. The constitution we have now was package Abacha and does not represent the wish of the majority. Our government as it is today, is Unitary that is code name federal. The state or local government continue to look forward to directives from Federal level.
Look at them
Frustrated people's convention
What happened was that they
What happened was that they (police) followed the procedure to serve the speaker (invitation letter) and since the speaker has seen it, it means that I have seen it.”
It will be recalled that Lawan had claimed that he handed over the bribe money to Jagaba to forward to the leadership of the House.
He also claimed to have reported the bribery to Jagaba through a letter he wrote to him in April.
But Jagaba vehemently denied ever receiving any letter or the bribe exhibit from Lawan. It is still unclear where the $620,000 is
Where were these national
Where were these national angels when Fashola and Tinubu sacked doctors in lagos state? When they were evicted from the homes with their children-when their wives had no place to lay their heads-when corrupt members of ACN were indicted in lagos state-we need resources control-regardless of the thieves-its the foreigners or settlers in our medst who are corrupting our people-let us split and there will be less stealing--
Why Afraid?
Why are our elected politicians afraid to say Nigeria will be better off,if we split the country into 6,atleast lets' go back to regional system and resource control.I'm not a doom prophet, but boko haram has come to stay.
all na wayo-to impose fulani buhari and bakare on d masses
Awo was about to submit his report on the need for Gov to increase the salaries of police offcers, when a police man attached to him, stole his pressing iron. Meaning corruption did not start with GEJ. The only way to end corruption is for us to reduce the powers at the centre in abuja. Its silly for abuja be dashed 87 percent of our oil revenue while we ask Ibori to account for on 13 percent derivation to the oil producing states. So all these talk about corruption are ideas initiated to divert attention-towards the ambition of bakare and buhari! Running away from the real issues troubling the soul of 9ja-such as BH-land use decree, petroleum acts and the introduction of fiscal federalism. If these people cannot remember the deeds of late Gani- is it that abiola which they often pay lip services to with fake photo-seession that they will immortalize-abiola did not die as a sports man he was killed because of politics. Yet bakare wants farouk honored and Otedola hanged.

let us move our thoughts beyond corruption-ideas is what we need
We have been talking about corruption for over 52 yrs. No head no tail. The yankess had the Italian, Irish among other mafia groups in USA. They still have the madoffs-but they dont dwell on them-its lack of ideas on how to move the nation forward that is our trouble. Buhari said every corrupt individual should be shot dead! Happily for us his tribes man Alhaji Farouk was caught taking bribe from Otedola. Where is the voice of buhari now? Is it not dead? Alhaji Hassan ex minister of works, is a member of ACN. Caught stealing over 15b-meant for the repair of our roads-is he in jail? Imagine an Ijaw man from Bayelsa state taking bribe from Otedola as Farouk and Boni did. Bakare, SNG, and buhari who is now quiet, would have been protesting around eagle square-corruption did not start today-our ancestors did collect bribes from their white slave masters-whom they sold slaves to. South africa is adjuged as the most corrupt nation on earth but they have light-water and good roads.
Coruption
D ways out of coruption is revolution and/or division, either we like it or not, dis will bring d looters closer 2d masses and jungle justice sets in imediatly there's any demonstration.kudos 2BH on polilooters, dey shld stop church killings pls...
