Photonews: Nuhu Ribadu's Presentation Of Two Books In Abuja- My Story; My Vision and A Paradise for Maggots

Chair of the book launch, Justice Chukwudifu Oputa

Former EFCC chair, Nuhu Ribadu, presented two books today in Abuja about his life and work as an anti-crime police. The event was attended by governors, lawyers, state governors, journalists and members of his family.

Mr. Ribadu intends to become a flagbearer for the Action Party of Nigeria (ACN). He has declared to run for president in the upcoming general elections in Nigeria slated for April 2011.

MY STORY; MY VISION

Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, a presidential aspirant on the platform of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) will formally present his book “My Story; My Vision” to the public on Tuesday, December 14, 2010, at THISDAY Dome in Abuja.

The book was inspired by Mallam Ribadu’s experiences during his quarter century of public service as well as the years he spent living in exile in the United Kingdom and the United States where he continued his commitment to good governance in Nigeria and across the globe.

The book is structurally divided into three moments of his life. The first section covers his childhood through school life, but particularly in family settings where he learnt those early lessons in public concerns from his parents and teachers.

The second section has been published as an extended monograph in the United States through Mallam Ribadu’s collaboration with co-author, Caroline Lambert, and the Center for Global Development. It covers his professional life in law enforcement roles, and in the terrain of anti-graft enforcement in particular.

The last section represents Mallam Ribadu’s current reflections on how to regenerate the energies necessary for our country to reset its social, political and economic valve.  He focuses on nine policy themes and briefly highlights some of the critical issues that can be addressed to bring about that urgent improvement in the well being of our people.

Since his return to Nigeria in the middle of this year, his new terrain of engagement has shifted sharply to politics as a means of continuing his public service. After extensive consultation, and the compelling pull of many young compatriots who ask that we all return to the abandoned task of rebuilding our badly abused nation, Mallam Ribadu not too long ago made known his intention to run for our country’s top executive level office. The last section of this book is therefore his own blueprint for the new Nigerian century of hope and rebirth.

In the words of Paul Wolfowitz, former dean of the Paul H. Nitze School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, Washington DC, and former President of the World Bank, “My Story; My Vision is a compelling account of some of the challenges and successes of  (fighting corruption) and it provides a valuable analysis of how developing countries can battle this scourge that keeps so many of them poor and how the rest of the world can help”.

Also to be presented is a revealing book on Mallam Ribadu: entitled “A PARADISE FOR MAGGOTS: The Story of a Nigerian Anti-graft Czar”. The book is written by Wale Adebanwi, assistant professor at the University of California, Davis, USA.

Adebanwi’s book is an elegant analysis of corruption in Nigeria and the role Mallam Ribadu played in stemming the scourge. It is praised by author of Africa’s most famous novel, Professor Chinua Achebe - who wrote the foreword - as “a salient document depicting an important crusader for justice.’

On his part, Professor Richard Joseph, author of one of the most acclaimed scholarly accounts of democratic governance in Nigeria, ‘Democracy and Prebendal Politics in Nigeria,’ states that the question that confronts readers of Adebanwi’s ‘searing expose’ is this: ‘Will the cesspools of corruption in Nigeria be forever drained and will this great nation discover the path to democratic prosperity?

Ahead of the 2011 General Elections, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, will unveil his official campaign website (www.nuhuribadu.com) on Monday, December 13, 2010. The interactive multi-media platform which will showcase the programmes and activities of Mallam Ribadu will offer unique features and will be radically different from other campaign websites in the country.

On Wednesday, December 15, 2010, Mallam Ribadu will formally make a public declaration to contest for president in the 2011 general elections. The event takes place at International Conference Centre. Mallam Ribadu will have the chance to present his programmes and plans to Nigerians.

The policies he will be proposing are policies that will enable the country manage the difficulties that our citizens are presently grappling with. Being mindful of the fact that problems which took several decades to seed, take root and consolidate will not be amenable to quick fixes, these are not quick fixes. They are structured to tackle immediate problems in the short term even as medium and long-term challenges are kept in focus and solutions to them carefully worked out.

He will focus on nine policy themes and briefly highlight some of the critical issues that can be addressed to improve the well being of our own people. The policy themes are Human Capital Development, the Economy, Infrastructure, Governance, Youth Employment, Agriculture and Food Security, Defence and National Security, Niger Delta, and   Foreign Policy.

you can never be trusted

this man is THe LUCIFER-called OBJ last Card and a mole in ACN sent to Kidnapp the party, any way I trust Bola Tinubu , he is quak tothe task on this game.

Ribadu you can never be trusted, OBJ played on to ill-yaradua ,down to JEGA, this time aroound we say no to his continious evil rules

Who is better options than Ribadu NOW???

He that has done nothing and is doing nothing for Nigeria can not be better than he that is actually doing something. Before we criticize Ribadu (which is ok), i think we should weigh the options/alternatives. As far as 2011 is concerned, Ribadu seems the best so far. If any other person is better, then present him and I will fund/support him with my $2,000 support. But if you don't have any better option, pls kindly support Ribadu for Nigeria's sake and for the sake of the next generation. God bless Nigeria.

Ribadu is fake afterall

The man Ribadu is an impostor and never a team player. He would be the worst catastrophe to ever befall Nigeria in 2011. Because he wishes to be president he becomes ambivalent lying openly about the Tinubus and Patience Jonathan whom EFCC under his command once investigated and declared culpable for money laundering and treasury looting. He is never a nationalist as he keeps camouflaging. Nothing has shown him as a man with the requisite intelligence and the right exposure to govern Nigeria. He is a political neophite who cannot compete favourably with even GEJ whom the wikileaks have shown as lacking in administrative competence and experience.

MY FEARS !!!

.I LIKE RIBADU DESPITE HIS FEW SHORTCOMINGS,BUT ALL IN ALL HE IS THE BEST AMONG ALL OF THEM.IF NOT FOR ANY OTHER THING ,HE IS DISCIPLINED.HE IS A SERIOUS MINDED PERSON,HE IS NOT GIVEN TO FRIVOLITIES.
BUT MY FEAR IS THAT OF FINANCE..I DON'T THINK HE HAS THAT KIND OF ENORMOUS WEALTH TO COMPETE WITH THESE OTHER GUYS.THIS IS BECAUSE HE HAS NOT STOLEN NIGERIA'S MONEY WHEN HE WAS IN THE ANTI GRAFT AGENCY .IF HE HAD ACCEPTED THE BRIBE OF $15 MILLION THROWN AT HIM BY THE INFAMOUS JAMES IBORI,IT WOULD HAVE BEEN A DIFFERENT BALL GAME.IF NOT THAT MONEY POLITICS HAS EATEN DEEP INTO THE FABRICS OF OUR SOCIETY,I WOULD HAVE STAKED MY LIFE THAT RIBADU WILL WIN THE FORTHCOMING PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.THIS IS BECAUSE WHEN YOU LOOK AT THE CALIBRE OF THE OTHER PARTIES CONTESTANTS,YOU WILL CRY FOR THIS BELOVED COUNTRY.IS IT ATIKU WITH HIS NOTORIOUS ANTECEDENTS OR JONATHAN WITH HIS RECENT ACTIVITIES THAT PORTENDS DANGER FOR ALL OF US.BUT MY ADVICE IS THIS, PLEASE LET HIM KNOW THE KIND OF PEOPLE HE IS ACCEPTING MONEY FROM,SO THAT ANTAGONISTS WILL NOT USE IT AGAINST HIM.I'M ALSO HAPPY THAT THE CALIBRE OF PEOPLE THAT ARE WORKING FOR HIM ARE PEOPLE OF INTEGRITY WITH ANTECEDENTS.HIS HEAD OF MEDIA CHIDO ONUMA IS A DISCIPLINED YOUNG MAN, AN EX MALABITE, I HAVE KNOWN HIM RIGHT FROM OUR UNICAL DAYS WHEN HE WAS HEADING ONE PRESS ORGANISATION [I THINK ECHO PRESS OR SO.I THINK HE LATER RELOCATED TO GHANA OR SO.]
I WISH THE ANTI GRAFT CZAR ,MALLAM NUHU RIBADU THE BEST AND I PRAY THAT GOD GRANTS HIM HIS HEART DESIRES.WE NIGERIA YOUTHS ARE SOLIDLY BEHIND HIM.

Ribadu will receive a bloody nose

Our political water is still shark infested. Ribadu is good but does not possess enough  bucks and crudeness to wrestle this guys. Our people are still  terribly  pauperized and would always follow the man with the palm- front. If you know what i mean.   Mark my words,  he would soon be given a bloody nose  like the Ganis, Okoties and even Utomis . Trust Nigerian politicians.  I think Ribadu  also knows that. My guess is that he is just grandstanding, possibly positioning himself for appointment. Remember Dele Momodu is already bleeding

$$$$$   Sadly..My boyfriend left me a year ago. now. I may be in need of someone to love... I am mature and beautiful, My friends told me about the site------ http://theafricanmafia-globalmessageonfraud.blogspot.com/  --- and i got curious about it. they met their boyfriends there., said It's the best place to meet a wealthy lover....So i got a username ---Clara --- there in order to find a new boyfriend. is it wrong? full of interesting secrets  they dont want you to know.

Not convinced

I am not sold on ribadu. He has not done anything besides being EFCC chair. I would like him to be tested as a governor first or senator and let me see if as a senator, he will saintly refuse the jumbo pay?
If he does that then I think he can be president. He seems to me as a quiet chameleon or a green snake in a green grass.
Let jonathan keep continue for strategic reasons no matter how bad he is. I dont trust neither of atiku or ribadu. The devil we know is better than the angel we dont know!!!

leopard cannot change her skin no matter what

Tee osh and charles we have heard all these stories before. The question Nigerian youths are asking is where the bomb shell that Ribadu promised us the youths, concerning Tinubu and the 31 governors are hidden? how can we trust our destiny into the hands of man who lied to us. He will lie and lie again and again. I rest my case. Ribadu my brothers no bi am.

The protesters who insisted

The protesters who insisted on gaining access into the complex, brandished placards with inscriptions, “No, National Assembly, No,” “We cannot have appointed delegates,” were led by their Coordinator, Mallam Abdullahi Maibirgi who explained that they were in the National Assembly to reject the attempt by members of the National Assembly to amend the Electoral Act.
This happened even as some of the protesters and miscreants that participated in the protest openly fought one another over money allegedly paid to them by their sponsors.

One of the protesters who had seized N10,000 from the monies meant to be shared among those recruited had a raw deal as others pounced on him in an attempt to snatch the money from him.
Mallam Maibirgi said there was nothing wrong with the existing Electoral Act even as he accused the National Assembly of fragrant disregard to the yearnings and aspirations of majority of Nigerians with the introduction of the obnoxious and self-serving sections that had the potential of derailing the gains of democracy in the country.

Maibirgi also declared that the group’s rejection of the alteration of the sequence of elections to the advantage of members of the National Assembly members in addition to the attempt to make the federal legislators members of the NEC of political parties.
According to Maibirgi; “The current provisions of the amendment to the Electoral Act 2010 are nothing but a tyranny of the legislature; an abuse of privilege; a rape of our democracy and an invitation to anarchy. We, as true democrats and patriots will not stand idle and allow this to go on.

"This is the same Ribadu that ran EFCC with 85% Hausa/Fulani staff and no singe Igbo HOD" what is your proof please?

Consider Alliance

Formidable alliance of great minds could be the answer to PDP rigging formula, which they have perfected over time.

Imagine the possibility of Buhari/Ribadu P/VP ticket winning an election in Nigeria and inviting Pat Utomi to take charge of the nation's Economy and provision of essential infrastructures while Sanusi stays on as CBN governor.

The presidential pair could then concentrate on arresting and prosecuting looters and recovering their loots. Recoverable loots could actually surpass income oil in the first year of their administration.

Their task would also involve national reorientation from a nation of looters, corrupt people and 419ers to a better society.

Just imagine the scenario. It is possible if we put Nigeria first and forget for once the ethnic politics, which the terrible politicians have continuously fed us with to becloud our judgments.

OR

for those who insist on youths taking over, we may also consider a Ribadu/Utomi P/VP ticket winning an election in Nigeria and inviting Fasola to take charge of the nation's Economy and provision of essential infrastructures while Sanusi still stays on as CBN governor.

These are possibilities.

AN IDEA WHOSE TIME HAS COME .

Apart from when MKO contested for the presidency of Nigeria and when my Dear Leader Gani Fawehinmi contested i have never supported anybody as the president of my country.
In Nuhu Ribadu i see the hope of a great Nigeria emerging and shining like a dazzling sun. In Nuhu i see the hope of riding in a sub way in my life time in Nigeria, i see the hope of NIGERNAUTS moon walking in space , i see the hope of driving in 8 lanes expressways in Nigeria, I see the hope of students getting students' loans to study up to PHD in Nigeria.I see the hope of flying in a Nigerian made Aircraft in Nigeria. I see the hope of political leaders being transparent and accountable in the real sense of the word to the masses.
I am a die hard supporter of NUHU RIBADU FOR PRESIDENT 2011. I humbly donated 200 pieces of Tshirts and single handedly created the www.teamribaduasia.com and reaching out to many who believe stubbornly that CHANGE IS POSSIBLE IN NIGERIA. I appeal to many of us out there to donate and let's move our country forward. I am also leasing out my Toyota Tacoma truck to the campaign for free. I also want to have 10 copies of this new book with an undisclosed amount.
God bless Nigeria and see you in Nigeria this month.

The Grand Deceit continues

Yesterday it was Ribadu fraternising with Professor Wole Soyinka, Tinubu and the Yoruba crowd. Today it is the turn of the Igbos: Chinua Achebe, Justice Oputa & co. This is the same Ribadu that ran EFCC with 85% Hausa/Fulani staff and no singe Igbo HOD. I suspect that Prof Soyinka has discovered that Ribadu is fake and now distancing himself. Ribadu is a very bad omen. Those who have senses, let them reason.

My simple advice for this man

My simple advice for this man is to find one of those silent and independent party to contest the election. If he choose to find a tent with the present tide using Pa Awolowo name and agenda to achieve their personal ambition, he will quickly be washed away.

Nuhu Ribadu 2011

Niuhu Ribadu: a hope of a new and prosperous nigeria

I am confident that Mallam Nuhu Ribadu has a vision and mission towards moving Nigeria to a place of pride.I hope that Nigerians will all support this brave and courageous anti-corruption czar to make the long awaited revolutionary change towards a new and prosperous Nigeria we have been dreaming. May Almighty Allah make it a reality. I hope the masses will not allow this rogues to rig their way in again.

DO U BELIEVE NOW?

I await the formal announecement of whom i believe to be the next president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and its first transformative leader eagerly tomorrow.I urge Mallam Ribadu to speak to his fellow citizens's yearnings, desires, and hopes, 1 Nigeria 4ever!!

YOUNG NIGERIANS WAKE UP!

Young Nigerians, this is our time to take our nation by force from those who have succeeded in making us slaves and paupers in our abundantly blessed country. Shall we continue to fold our arms and watch sa people like Adamu Ciroma continue to steal us dry and want to impose one of them like Atiku on us? Why can't we wake up for God's sake and confront these cabals? I bet you they will run away like Ibori because they don't have liver to face us when we decide to face them headlong. By my assessment represents a serious shift from the generation that has kept us in darkness to the new dawn that we all wish. All I need is someone who will fight corruption to a standstill and allow different entities in Nigeria to develop freely without interference. I beckon on every young Nigerian to wrestle this power from our legisLOOTERS, legislaTHIEVES and SINators and sweep them out of Aso Rock come 2011. YES WE CAN!

What a wise talk! Good or Bad Luck for 2011

From all the words I never heard we are the party to lift and restore the Glory of Nigeria or identify with positivity nor did he seek to tell his PDP crooks that people view them as the most corrupt party in Mankind! And its Large dominated NASS full of whom Richard Akinjide in a lecture today at Lead University Ibadan described as 'Treasury Looters’! Or do we in a hurry forget they had almost 12 contested Governor Seats: some they won back but lost many! Meaning there is historic proof that PDP should never in fact been the ruling party, rather they are the riggers Party. Or was it because they kept a man who assured that they will rule Nigeria for 50 years as their chairman! This man with a desperate pressed nose was all along the man who defrauded the Federal Government in some contractor Debt payment scam! Jonathan had nothing to tell his party and Nigeria on the way forward other than we (PDP) are the ruling Party!
Please READ and make up your mind about this man!

This is trying time for PDP – Jonathan
NewsDec 15, 2010
By Henry Umoru
ABUJA—PRESIDENT Goodluck Jonathan admitted yesterday that this was a trying period for the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but said as members of the party, they have the capacity to resolve any differences.
According to Jonathan, as party members and even as aspirants, they must all be mindful of how they conduct themselves especially before and during the party’s primaries.
Speaking yesterday at the 54th meeting of the National Executive Committee, NEC of the PDP at the Party’s National Secretariat, the President who noted that “this period is very critical not for PDP alone but for the whole country”, however warned the PDP members on the need to embrace dialogue, adding, “even though we don’t know when they conduct their own primaries but they want to be involved and witness our primaries.
“Let me use the opportunity to plead with those of us who are aspirants at one level or the other to play the politics in away that they will remember that we are a member of one political family.
“At the end of our primary election, we must come together to protect the interest of PDP and no matter the challenges we have, we must realize that because other parties will want to weaken us.
“Everyday we read in the newspapers that some members of the party want to defect or defecting to other parties. Some of these stories may be true but some is just to weaken us and make [people say that everybody is leaving PDP.
“No matter what anybody says we are the ruling party. That is why the challenges is more on us and any ripples in the PDP will appear like a wind. A wind in other places will not even appear like ripples. The challenge of leadership is more on us. Maintaining the position is more on us than others.
“So we should not take some of the stories seriously but at the same time we must be mindful of how we conduct ourselves in the process of our primary elections.”
“Anything that the PDP Governors decide that is what the Governors’ Forum decides because politics is about game of numbers. By God grace we control the Executives because the President, Vice president and most of the ministers are members of PDP. All these sectors must work together we must see ourselves as one”.
The President who accused opponents of showing more than normal interest in the activities of the party, expressed great worry on the situation on hand, adding, “the issue of one group isolating themselves or others isolating themselves as If we must be boxing ourselves is not in the interest of the party.
“I plead with us that we must realize that for any political differences, dialogue resolves issues. I believe that court don’t even resolve political differences because court can give you judgment but they are not moral judgment but if people sit down and reason together it is always better than other options especially when internal crisis are involved.
“I encourage all of us to see how we can come together to resolve our differences if any and let us play the politics as we belong to the same family.
‘’It is a period that the atmosphere is charged and everybody is stressed about one thing or the other. This period is very critical not for PDP alone but for the whole country. But PDP is on top because anything about PDP we set the agenda and everybody knows that and that is why they concede to us and that is why other parties want to participate in our primaries. Even though we don’t know when they conduct their own primaries but they want to be involve and witness our primaries.
‘’No matter what anybody says we are the ruling party. That is why the challenges are more on us and any ripples in the PDP will appear like a wind. A wind in other places will not even appear like ripples. The challenge of leadership is more on us. Maintaining the position is more on us than others. Let me use the opportunity to plead with those of us who are aspirants at one level or the other to play the politics in away that they will remember that we are a member of one political family.
‘’At the end of our primary election, we must come together to protect the interest of PDP and no matter the challenges we have, we must realize that because other parties will want to weaken us . Everyday we read in the newspapers that some members of the party want to deflect or deflecting to other parties. Some of these stories may be true but some is just to weaken us and make people say that everybody is leaving PDP.
‘’So we should not take some of the stories seriously but at the same time we must be mindful of how e conduct ourselves in the process of our primary elections. One must state clearly that this is a ruling party and we will expect all sectors, all major divisions of the party to know that we belong to the same body.
By God grace and by hard work we control majority in the national Assembly and many state assemblies and by God grace also, we have majority in the Governors forum.’’

HAVING emerged the consensus Presidential candidate of the Northern Political Leaders Forum (NPLF), Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, former Vice President needs to be full of prayers as his motorcade in Yola, Adamawa State, rammed into a crowd of supporters killing two persons and causing severe injuries to more than 15 others.
An eyewitness account reportedly confirmed three victims currently hospitalized at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the Federal Medical Centre in the city while others are at the Yola Specialist Hospital.

Atiku Abubakar was in Yola to attend the traditional marriage ceremony of one of his daughters who wedded a governorship aspirant in the state, Adamu Muazu Modibbo when a Toyota Prado SUV in his 16-campaign vehicle convoy swerved off the road along Galadima Aminu Way, where supporters had packed to salute the politician.

Sources said one of those killed, identified as Muji Mohammed, was on a motorcycle chanting 'Sai Turaki, Sai Turaki' when the driver of the SUV lost control and rammed into the motorbike and thereafter triggered a multiple car crash.

Efforts made to reach Atiku's Campaign Organisation for comments on the fatal incident were unsuccessful, as Adamawa State Police Command has intensified investigations into the tragic incident.
