The murder yesterday of the 2007 AC Gubernatorial candidate in Ogun State, Mr. Dipo Dina brings to fore the urgent need to stem the dangerous tide of politically motivated assassination, failed assassination attempts and the threat to the lives of other political stalwarts in the country since 2001.
I join with the wife, children, family, friends, associates and all lovers of democracy to mourn the painful loss of Dipo Dina at this moment of trauma in our nation. What with the current horrendous massacre of helpless Nigerians in Jos.
The office of the Inspector General of Police (IGP) cannot continue to shirk in its responsibility in investigating and bringing to justice the perpetrators of the political murders, with the latest victim being Mr. Dipo Dina.
The current state of general insecurity in Nigeria demands that the Presidency and the National Assembly should rise to the challenge of ensuring the defence of life and property of every Nigerian, regardless of status.
The cases of unresolved murder since 2001 continue to grow and it should be clear what the state of this general insecurity in the country means. It is the:
. Distressed economy
· Failed murder attempts.
· Threat to life and destruction of properties of perceived political opponents.
· Electoral violence by the incumbent in re-run elections across the country.
· Kidnapping and hostage taking.
· Unresolved cases of political assassinations.
My appeal to the presidency and the office of the IGP is founded on the danger of the unfolding militarism of the political space and the reign of sheer impunity which can lead the country to a state of anarchy; because the lack of a rational response on the part of the presidency and the police to the several cases of unresolved murder appears to have emboldened the culprits and murderers to act above the law.
- Dina dared to enlarge the democratic space in Ogun State and therefore, had to die.
- Dina dared to expose reckless abuse of public trust in Ogun State and therefore, had to die.
- Dina dared to challenge the political behemoth in Ogun State and therefore had to die.
- Dina must not die in vain.
It is my hope that we (the remaining endangered democrats and fighters for social justice) must re-dedicate ourselves to the cause of building a just, progressive and humane society in our fatherland. In the words of CLR James, “this act of mindless assassination of a principled fighter for liberal ,will not delay their own day of judgment”.
Adieu a principled advocate and fine fighter for justice.

... Omo Yoruba please wake up by start asking for Yoruba people and Yoruba nation police force or else you will all be killed by those who are green with envy of your political and economical advancement. Yoruba are not killing Yorubas but people from other ethnic groups. No multination, civilized and democratic nation in the world has national police like the one being operated in Nigeria. National police wherever its being practised is used to kill critics, activists and progressive ethnic groups. National police is always used to rig elections and to carry out atrocities and illegalities. Nigerians should start fighting for states police. |

... When the police have been paid to cover up a murder, they will call it armed robbery, so that even if the assassins are caught their lawyers will say the police called it robbery. The Police Commissioner of Ogun State made a blunder by saying that with his years in the force. He should go back to school. What a dullard ala dadadindin! |

... That was highly impressive, our dear Rauf Aregbesola, just like every other person has advised, donot go to bed with your two eyes closed."iku ti o npa ojugba eni, owe lonpa funni".May God deliver us from the claws of blood suckers, but i am sure oneday they will reap the fruits of their labour. I watched the new commisioner of police for ogun state on television and i wondered the kind of dull, daft officer he is. i felt highly disappoited that such a man could occupy a sensitive post like that, his sense of reasoning is very shalow.I consider his comment that "DD was killed by armed robbers" as an "INSULT" on the DEAD and the entire people of Ogun.Anyway, His boss, the IG of police has said "it is rather too early to make conclusion on the cause of Dina's death, until investigation is concluded b4 the cause can be known". That was reasonable enough atleast, even though they may not get to the root of the matter |

... Engineer Aregesola, may God almighty continue to protect you o, oju lalakan fi n sori o. Since you are also an opposition to the ruin of PDP, PDP would not like people like you and, knowing the nature of PDP members, they may also wish you dead, God forbid. Bola Ige died, nothing happened, Daramola (Ekiti State) died, nothing happened, and scores of other who were killed. They want to kill all good people so they can continue their evil act. You can see how they started cooking up stories about DD-Direct's death. All oposition politicians should pray more. May God protect y'all. |

... Nigerian politicians may continue to murder perceived political opponents but they cannot murder the freedom that God is bringing to Nigeria. They cannot escape God's judgement for soiling their hands with the blood of the innocent. The blood will certainly cry out like that of Abel. Let them know this. |

... It is a shame. It is a pity. It seems an hopeless situation. The Nigerian Police is no better than the Eagles. What do you expect? I am still wondering whether we have a IGP. At least Okiro was making noise. I watched with amusement, when the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State was giving the details of the incident yesterday and I was embarrassed at the quality of what was coming out from the man. This killings must stop. Bola Ige died just like that, so also was Engineer Funso Williams. We have to stem the tide. |

Dipo was virulent ciritic of Ogun state goverment. All his saga are still fresh in our mind. Let know police authority tell us lies about Dipo's death . It is pure political killing. ... The murder of D.D. has revealed the callousness of the gang of morons leading Nigeria. It's so bitter for some people who claimed to love Nigeria to have killed a young, dynamic, visionary & bright technocrat like D.D. who has brought a lot of styles and creativity to the Ogun State politics & by extension that of Nigeria. May the LORD of Heaven also put the killers and sponsors of D.D.'s exit in great pain, even to their fourth generation. Well, I don't believe in the Police to have given us a correct statement on the killers of D.D. bcos a fool can even state beyond doubt that D.D. wasn't killed by armed robbers as claimed by the COP of Ogun State. Even, if the Nigerian Police can't reveal them, the Mighty judge will still deal with them. Another failure of the several failure agenda propounded by the greedy & stupid figure Nigeria prides as her President. |

... Hmmm, that was a good one from Engr. Rauf Aregbesola. The death of politicians and others started since the day OBJ announced the "do or die" affairs in partisan politics. Fellow Nigerians, where is he today. Report said when the Ogun state police chief call the commander in charge of Ota command "his phone was ringing but no answer". Which the police later claim it was an arm robbery attack that led to the death of DD Direct. I think something has to be done about it. It's high time these perpetrators are brought to face the wrath of the law. Enough of these killings. His killer must be fetched out. |

... THROUGHOUT HISTORY l have known that no power on earth can supress the decency of the human spirit and l challenge anybody to prove me wrong. We have been crying out since the past 10 years that a criminal gang has seized the entire political space deciding who must die and who must live and we have seen before in the years of locusts but nobody believed that we will witness this in a democracy. The brutal murder of this genius called Dipo Dina, very calm, cool headed, smart, firstclass, and yet humble presents us with two options:to allow murderers to kill all of us or to stand up and call their bluff. My take is on the later. The killers of Dina must be found come what may. It is our duty to do so. |

... Well said, Aregbe. I believe what is happening in Nigeria is because of the do-or-die politics Obasanjo planted here before he left. That was why he planted so many impostors like the one in your Osun State. They must kill to remain in office. I hope you are also watching your back because the monster in Osun will like to take some pot shots on you. He knows that with you on the scene, he is in perpetual trouble. Please, keep the banner high but please, watch your back as this nest of killers can do just anything to be in power. |
