Anti-Corruption Network Exposes Five Properties Owned By Minister Orubebe

Orubebe's Ministers Hill mansion built by SETRACO
By SaharaReporters, New York

An anti-corruption group led by former House of Representatives member, Dino Melaye, has revealed five properties purchased by the Minister of the Niger Delta, Godsday Orubebe.

The choice properties were acquired in the last three years that Mr. Orubebe has been a minister, first under the late President Umaru Yar’Adua and later as one of the most powerful figures in the cabinet of President Goodluck Jonathan.

Mr. Melaye’s group revealed that a construction company, SETRACO, built and delivered a brand new mansion to Mr. Orubebe less than six months after the company received a contract to build part of the East-West highway in the Niger Delta region.

Mr. Melaye’s group obtained documents indicating that Mr. Orubebe was the owner of the properties they identified. One of the documents is the certificate of occupancy for Plot 2722, Kyami District in Abuja. The plot contains 1883.63 square meters. Another certificate of occupancy obtained by the group shows that Mr. Orubebe owns Plot 2460 in the notoriously expensive Maitama area of Abuja. In addition, the minister, who is reputed as one of the most corrupt associates of President Jonathan, also owns Plot 1736 in the Guzape area of Abuja. The certificate of occupancy for the plot was issued in 2008. The Minister for the Niger Delta also acquired Plot 2057 in the Asokoro area.

A source at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission told SaharaReporters that he was not aware that the anti-corruption agency had opened any investigation into Mr. Orubebe’s land deals or other financial activities. “As far as I know, the EFCC is not investigating Elder Orubebe,” said the source, adding that the agency was unlikely to act “unless the Presidency specifically orders us to go after him.”

Mr. Orubebe’s land documents are attached:

When Patroits of the Niger Delta are more in Love with Abuja.

At least we can now establish why we have to bury the a decorated starred general in Yenagoa. All the budgets allocated to improve the roads and infrastructure in the Niger Delta in the past few years had been converted/diverted to the construction of Private multimillion houses in abuja. Afterall as they say they are the areaa producing the oil.

Confused

I am confused and do not know what to say. I voted for GEJ and not the PDP thinking he was going to make amends to our economy.
I do believe in GOD that those who never want anything good for thiswill not live to enjoy the loot they have stolen.
GEJ is keeping quiet so that he can get a second term. GEJ must be day dreaming. Should i live to witness the next election, i will campaign against him vigorously.
Nigerians are not fools. Orubebe has also started going Ibori way.

Kalahari Reporters

I wonder why people cannot remove the veil from their eyes, a news media is like a prophet, the bible says when a prophet can no longer substantiate his prophesies, he losses relevance.

We can not help but look into our ethnic and regional affiliations and because of how comments and stories are tinted, Goodluck has come to stay, who knows if Danjuma, Babangida, Buhari and the likes will still be around in another seven years? what of Adedibu? Saraki? will OBJ be alive? what of Tinubu? Power is transient and the process is natural. One thing I will say, Sahara reporters have helped to prepare the minds of Niger-Deltans for anyone that will rule Nigeria after Goodluck, pity this if he is not an Igbo because any body from any other part of the country will meet with stiff resistance and we don't churches, we seize platforms and pipelines. Go on Sahara, please justify us for the future.

Deri and Akpos

Two years ago, even Deri and Akpos would have supported Sahara liars, but going by the statistics of response for and against, it shows that people are gradually removing their veil and seeing Sahara reporters as it really is. The day I stopped following Kalahari reporters was during the Yar'adua Saga, they claimed that Goodluck cried when he saw the body of his boss when he actually did not see him.

Yes Sahara reporters drummed up support for Goodluck to become president, but they never expected he will have the guts to contest and win elections, so any story they write must be linked with Goodluck, his wife is sick, she has parkinson disease, Sambo is fighting him, Minister of health has a house in Austria, Dame patience cause the crash of Dana air because she was in the airspace, these are many of the rumors Nigerians love to hear.

y u will never rule nigeria again SS/SE

wel u hav display ur illitracy before d public and i promise u dat dis is d first and d last tym dat u bunch of cowards wil eva rule dis country again.and let me tel u dat dos people u called vampires wia d one dat made this country we called Nigeria and certainly dey wil stop all dis none sence.

EFCC

If I may ask, "who owns the EFCC, President or nigerians? So, it is who the president ask the EFCC to go after that they pursue. What a pity, Nigeria sucks!!! EFCC has become an arm of the presidency. When is Nigeria going to have a fair & free EFCC, National Assembly, Police Force, and most of all Judiciary. For a president to interfare with the judiciary, by sacking a judicial officer, Nigeria democracy is damn for failure. In a democratic society like US, this can not happen. President hand pick people into offices, he appoints the EFCC boss, the INEC boss, Chief Jutice of the federation, IGP, and even in the military. These are institutions that are not suppose to be politicise.

hahahahahaha.....i still dey laugh oooo

Wait ooo, is this not Nigeria, ehen now it is. Seriously minus joke, what would you expect if your house is dirty and someone comes along to tell you that your house is dirty, and you wave off the idea, who looses you or the speaker?. Now look at it this way, who give a damn?, You Nigerians, because you are the chairs, tables, carpet, curtain and the rest, you must give a damn, but if your head doesnt give the "damn thing", about the house to be cleaned, then sorry OO. Dino we know like the noise maker wanna be, but on the contrary we all give a damn at least we know we should, but your President doesnt give a damn.

niger

Niger deltans like deri d dog are toothless dogs they only bark but can't bite. Ogogoro and crayfish

Lets fight corruption without ethnic sentiments

I feel so ashame when misguided peanut heads from SS try to trivialize and ethnicize national monster, corruption.

No wonder SS is the most backward region in the Nation... We celebrate Thief James Ibori

Y b sentimental ova issues

Am so surprise at mr. Dino's write up,, @ least u should hav carried out a proper investigation before writing dis article,, Is it a crime for a minister to own a mansion and plot of lands? Was Orubebe a poor man before he became a minister? How much was in his bank accounts before he became a minister? All these are the 1000 n 1 questions u should hav ask yourself before coming up with dis your cut n nail story. It is only wen a Nigerian man is no longer relevant in a Government that he or she criticises d government frequently. Pls mr Dino tell us what did u do with all the consistuency project money that were given to you wen u were an honorable member of the house of representative? Hahahaha shebi no ansa... U c,, abeg wash ur mouth very well before u tell somebody say he mouth get odour...

I thought?

I thought the last NASS members under former pres OBJ totally removed the power of efcc and icpc from the president because of how he used the anti-corruption agency to witch-hunt his passive enemies.why are they waiting for GEJ directives before they can investigate erubebe?without total a revolution against these politicins nigeria will continue to be drowning.

In support of Deri & Akpos

The Yorubas and the Hausa/Fools-lanis have realy done a good job in brainwashing us the SS/ND about the Ibos. Meanwhile they use the money generated from SS/ND to develope the SW and the North, creating Yoruba and hausa/fools-lanis rogues billionaire. Tomorrow they will claim that Awo and Ahmadu bello did it for them. Building super h-way b/w Ibadan and Lagos, dumping all the money generated from ss/nd in abuja for the past 30yrs. Meanwhile it takes us 4hrs to travel from PH to Brass. They won the civil war using us, and for more than 40yrs after the war what have they done for us nothing. Please Orubebe, steal all you can it is your money if they don't likethey can go to hell. Akpos I support you all the way.

PROPERTY

What about the ones for Petroleum minister and others?. The presidency has not approved their probe. Shame to Nigerian nation!

RE: DERI

@Deri you are a bigot... We are not discussing ethnic politics.. we are discussing real issues that is burning the country which is corruption. If the basic infrastructures are in place in Bayelsa and other south south regions.. The Helicopter crash would have been averted. You region is backward in terms of development and you dont see nothing wrong with that. Steal all you can and use the money to develop SW and Abuja... You are supposed to advise your people in power to develop your region and other parts of the country instead of amassing wealth for themselves. Its a pity Azazi and Yakowa died in that crash. I know other politicians would have forgotten that by now..

Reply

it bis not fair for any Nigerian to cast aspersions on the person of President Jonathan.
The man has ensured that his house is put in order. the issue is that most of these things are mere allegations and are not proven, yet.
The other time Dino raised the issue of non-existence of contracts, journalists were taken to Niger-Delta to see for themselves. It was indeed TRUE that the projects existed and are still existing.

No country in the world has ever fought corruption on the pages of newspapers, airwaves or online platforms. I can sense a mischief and unwarranted anger directed at the executive.
By the way, hs Dino not learnt any lesson?

Who owns the money ? Is it Nigeria or SS&SE money?

SH and the rest of the countries should get it sunk deep into their porous brains that the oil & gas wealth belongs to the SS&SE and not the entire continent. Therefore, Orubebe can spend it. Do u expect a cowardly Yoruba or vampire Hausa to spend it?

Take a look at the statistics of Regional contribution to the Continent's treasury:

1. South South(SS) ---> 62%
2. South East (SE) ---> 36.5%
3. South West (SW) ---> 1.5 %
4. North East (NE) ---> 0%
5. North West (NW) ---> 0%
6. North Central(NC) -->0%

What is the use of regions/countries 3-6?

The SS&SE cannot continue with these barren people. IMPOSSIBLE. If u dont like Orubebe spending the money, get angry & stop receiving hand outs from the SS&SE.

Long live the United States of the SS&SE

Talk

Una too talk for this sahara reporters ah!ah!. But the talk talk dey helps us sha. Thank God sey we dey see where our money de go.

re

What of Tinubu and a whole lot of our ministersz,even the person that wrote it should check his records.Nigeria ȋ̝̊̅§ a disgrace,its only God will save us

Re: Orube Corruption Tendencies

I reckon this December will be a pay back time for the looters of our treasury. They are happy seeing Nigerians suffering. GEJ created Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs to loot Nigeria treasury, if not, he knew we already have NDDC. Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs has no visible office in Niger Delta. All that Orubebe is stealing is just a drop in the ocean compared to what he steals for GEJ.

And The Beats Goes On.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Our Nigeria and our people. We wake up everyday to read or hear of all these monumental allegations of abused of office yet, life goes on.
When will the people ever summon up courage and say, ENOUGH IS ENOUGH???????
Nothing is moving in the land but corruption. Leaders are supposed to be proactive in making sure their people reap the dividend of democracy but ours is for the leaders to keep reaping the country dry.
Morals and Ethics have all been thrown to the wind by our leaders. SHAME SHAME to these sets of leaders and the people who are too weak/scared to question them about accountability.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Dino is an agent of tinubu

Is @Deri real in his comments when it comes to corruption or s/he is only being provocative in his write-ups. S/he seems to be on the side of corrupt especially as it relate to the president or members of his cabinet especially those from his stock, Ijaw. It is not a secret prez Jonathan and his administration is corrupt. Everyone knows this fact so why is @Deri singing praises of corruption whenever it is mention. Corruption knows no ethnic group. Maybe @Deri has dementia that s/he could not remember when Gani took Tinubu to court. This administration is stealing the future of Nigeria (the kids born now and those yet unborn). As someone from the Niger Delta, I am very disappointed in Jonathan for his aiding and abetting corruption. This nonsense has to stop.

NO SURPRISE!! THIS REGIME STINKS ANYWAY

@DERI,I expect you to disprove the facts stated in the above allegations of massive acquisition of Abuja properties by a civil-servant who is close to the President,Mr Dino's political inclination is irrelevant here.
When the day of reckoning comes,the thieves will vomit all they have stolen,I have a firm believe that it will happen.

God go punish dem all.

No wahala. As dem cum, na so dem go go. Dem no go carry anytin go heven or hell. all na vanity.
Gej, u fall our hand. Na only Baba God go answer una.

please.

MR DIN NICE WORK.BUT CAN YOU GO AFTER TINUBU TOO.KEEP IT UP.

Wait

Leadership in Nigeria is an opportunity to steal as much as you can. It is an invitation to come and chop and don't think the minister should be crucified even though corruption is a crime. Any angry person should wait for his turn for there is more than enof to go round. SAY NO TO CORRUPTION.

@Deri: Monkeys have more brains than your aborigines !

@Deri

Shame on you ! Even your Aborigine brothers keep stealing and using the lot to develop Abuja and yet no motorable road in Bayelsa to your villages hence the helicopter had to crash after 15 flights !
Monkeys have more brains than your aborigines !

We all knw d level of

We all knw d level of corruption in d Govt, but dis reprot dd not tell us dt Mr.Orubebe stole d money he built d properties with neither dd he acquired d property in a suspicious deal. Or is it a crime 2 own a property now. I think Melaye should do more 2 investigate d source of money 2 make his audience bliv dt Mr.Orubebe is a thief.

Why People from SS Only.

The vilified Alams, Ibori and all SS officials. Is corruption only endemic in the SS. What about all thye Northern State Governors past and present and ministers past and present. Anytime any bank fails then all will know that it must be owned by SS people as was confirmed by former NSA Gusau. Probe all ministers and military administrators from IBB era to date and we know you are being fair.
