Daredevil Robbers Kill Six Police Officers, One Soldier In Delta

By Amour Egodibie Amour for SaharaReporters, New York

Barely four days after the Delta State Commissioner of Police, Ikechukwu Adube, paraded some armed robbery suspects and announced the seizure of dollars worth N3.9 million, some daredevil armed robbers today unleashed horror on the Ibuza community in the Oshimili North local government area. The robbers, who reportedly numbered eight, left a trail of death that claimed the lives of six policemen, including a Divisional Police Officer, as well as a soldier.

One of the police victims, Tim Chibukewe, was the DPO in charge of Abraka. Another police casualty, John Danladi, was described as “a popular crime buster.”

Several eyewitnesses said the armed robbery gang stormed Ibusa town in a red Toyota Camry and a bus and held the town hostage. They raided two banks, carting away a huge but yet undetermined amount of cash.

A police source said that law enforcement agents stormed the scene of the robbery and exchanged gunfire with the robbers, killing five of them as the others escaped through Ogwashi-Uku.

We learnt that Mr. Danladi, as assistant superintendent of police, commanded the anti-robbery squad. Mr. Danladi, who was reportedly ordained “an evangelist” two days ago at the Tree of Life Church Ogwashi-Uku, led the anti-robbery squad that chased the criminals to Igbodo along Benin-Agbor-Asaba expressway where the police officers lost their lives to the robbers’ superior gunfire.

SaharaReporters learnt that the robbers also killed another man simply identified as a pastor. The man reportedly died during the robbers’ raid on a bank.

The Abraka DPO reportedly lost his life when he ran into the robbers at Igbodo on his way to Asaba.

One eyewitness source told SaharaReporters: “It was also in my presence that one of the robbers was killed by the people. The suspect was in the midst of several people and was shooting into the air while looking for an escape route. But he ran out of bullet and the people cashed-in on that to attack him. They hit an iron rod on his head and he fell down before the people set him ablaze. Another member of the robbery gang was also burnt by the mob although I can’t tell how he was killed.”

Other witnesses said the exchange of gunfire during the robbery was like a scene in a commando movie.

“In fact, this place was turned into a war zone of some sort as the robbers exchanged fire for fire with policemen. I have never seen this kind of situation in real life before,” said one source. Another witness said, “I must commend the police for rising to the occasion. The police blocked all the exit routes and confined the robbers within the town where the exchange took place. We were practically picking bullets from the ground.”

The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, Charles Muka, confirmed the tragic event. However, he stated that only four police officers were killed, adding that a soldier also died. He disclosed that five members of the robbery gang lost their lives during a gun battle and that the police recovered bags of money and ammunition from the fleeing hoodlums.

The bodies of the police casualties were deposited at a mortuary.

Mr. Muka stated that the police had spread their dragnet to track down the robbers who escaped.

Meanwhile, Mr. Danladi’s death has thrown Ogwashi-Uku into a state of mourning. Many residents of the town described Mr. Danladi as a man with a reputation for combating armed robbers without fear. Mr. Danladi had received several awards from various institutions and the state’s police command for gallantry.

We said it, that these religious bigots will metamorphosis into armed robbers in the South. May God help us from the North. They will use any means to destabilize Jonathan’s government. As soon as Buhari spoke we knew something like this will happen soon. Northerners, why are you so destructive?

CHAOS AND ANARCHY HAS OVERTAKEN MY COUNTRY:GOD HELP US

At this point in time only divine intervention would do,young men are unemployed after graduation, the politicians from A-Z are robbers by other means, the police is under funded and neglected, the judiciary is conniving with politicians, the legislators are concentrating on thier plundering through thier immoral salaries and allowances, universities, secondary schools and primary schools are in a state of dillapidation and criminal neglect, where will one start?
These brave officers have made the ultimate sacrifice while the idiotic politicians engage in thier embezzlements, contract inflations, bank loan frauds etc.May God grant these officers peace and give thier families means of survival because the government will forsake them, they just dont care.

Of Cops and The Law.

I doubt not 1 among U know John Danladi well enough to give condolences. May his soul rest in PEACE, but actually d man was an overzealous cop who often time took d laws into his hands n murdered so many innocent young men extra judicially. From Delta State University, Abraka to Ugwashiukwu Poly, d lives of so many innocent students were prematurely taken by ur so called crime buster all in d name of his self styled anti-cult crusades. Dsame way BH exleader Mohamed Yusuf was murdered extra judicially n 2day cops re paying with their lives so John Danladi died by d gun he so often used in his extra judicial escapades!

May God help this country

This is clearly the fallout of decades of failed leadership. No jobs, no infrastructure to start and sustain small business, corruption everywhere. A combination of all these has eaten deep into our psyche making every able bodied man and woman resort to and think that looking for shortcuts to make it in life in the ONLY way out. May God help this country. The galant security men that lost their lives should honored.

Danladi - The Great!

What a gallant officer! His popularity was infectious; his courage was celebrated; his fame was wide. Even in death; Danladi will be celebrated. Mark it; It is only just the beginning.
I personnaly know him. He was a dedicated officer who was on duty 24 hours a day, seven days a week. He was a one-man patrol team, a crime burster per excellence! All he lived for and eventually died for was to make the society safe for everyone. A post-humous GCON is a well-deserving honour for him.
Adieu Danladi! Heaven is made for people like you. No wonder your glorious call came a day after your ordination as a church Deacon. Adieu Danladi! Go take your place in heaven.

Should I Do A Paternity Test?

RIP JOHN DANLADI

I got a call from my cousin last night informing me of this tragedy, the demise of a great policeman,John Danladi, who has been outstanding in combating crime. A brave and fearless cop; had finally laid his life down, so that our people can sleep without fear. Unfortunately, I have not met him in person, to salute his bravery, commitment to duty and fearless posture in discharge of his duty. The security authority should take note, that criminals will want to return Ogwashi Uku to their safe heaven, now that Danladi is no more. Adieu John Danladi.
