{joomplu:2481}{joomplu:2486}{joomplu:2485}Four officials of the National Union of Journalists kidnapped near Aba in South East Nigeria last week were freed earlier today. Details of how the journalists regained their freedom are still sketchy. The four men were abducted on their way from a meeting of the executive council of the NUJ in Uyo, Akwa Ibom state last week Sunday.

Its a good thing they were released. But am still insisting that the governor of that state, the traditional rulers, the AIG must find lasting solution to kidnapping problems in that state.Or they relinquish their their positions. simple!

Nigeria state is a complete failure, where police informant is sold out to the criminals or even detained by police for being patriotic bcos the police personnel are involved here again.
These 9ja journalist are like the Prophet Isaiah that was dining with King Uzziah that he was suppose to correct until the death of the King Uzziah before his eyes were opened again to corruption bcos second chance was given to the prophet Isaiah.

This Kidnapping is becoming a popular this days.
IS IT REAL OR ARE WE CREATING A FACE FOR A FACELESS CREATURE.
1 Three Journalist Kidnapped, -Loss =N=3M to kidnappers but did not pay ransom. (What were they doing with =N=3M cash on hand in the first place.

2 Alhaji Lulu Mother Kidnapped. Why was she kidnapped after wind don blow fowl yach open.
Lets talk.

@ese otaks .... hmmmmm My brother, you really struck a cord in my upper hemisphere... I don't know if it is the medulla oblongata or what parts of my brain yet.

3-Million Naira with/on them and they were all coming from Godswill Akpabio's state. I don't want to jump to conclusion or call them Brown envelop journalists just yet. But 3 million is a huge sum of money and these journalists to .................. BRB... let me go do my research and found out what happened at their retreat if any Ghana Must Go were passed around

THANK YOU, ESE. you have given me food for thought this morning.... let me ponder on it.

Journalists travelling from Uyo got kidnaped and they now claim the kidnappers took 3 million from them. How? Where did they get the money from? Are there no banks in Uyo? Is this not proceeds of yellow journalism that is plaquing the media and the nation? If these guys have this huge sum of money why did they go to lagos by air? A dosier of these journalist should be sudied closely. What if they arranged this kidnap themselves? Between the Nigerian politician, the Journalist, the Nigeria police, and a large section of the judiciary; the choice is pretty slim.

if govt can make it a case that any form of kidnapping occured in a particular locality the traditional rulers, politicians and citizen would be heard responsible it will stop more traditional rulers needs to be banished let thier be discipline at all levels

Halleluyah, i thank God for the live of the released press men. This should make an end to this international disgrace caused by Nigerians.to have achieve this their must be the following:
1.freedom of information
2,independence of judiciary
3,Politician must ready to subject themselves to fairness, equity and justices e.g Donald Duke opened up in a conferemce where he spoke extensively how elections are being rigged!!!!!!!!!!!

Let the government put in as much effort as they put in these corrupt journalist who collected 3m naira from a corrupt governor to recover that poor boy that was kidnapped over a year ago and retire Onovo and the police hierarchy with immediate effect.

Channels Television reported that kidnapping is about the biggest and most lucrative industry in Nigeria today. With over 70b naira exchanging hands in 2010 alone, this surely means it is a revenue spinner. I am pretty sure that the so called high and mighty in Nigeria are actively involved in it. For something this big they definitely no a thing or two.
If there are people to be kidnapped they should be people like the Onovo's, Babangida's, Odili's, Igbenedion, Obasanjo's and their like
Olisa agbakoba reported last week that there is no interstate route where there are as many check points like the South Eastern states but if you as much as give the police men 200 naira you would carry a human head without been noticed. So tell me how kidnapping would not thrive in such conditions.

We give God the glory, the journalists are out. however, i am stil wondering why the journalist had N3.0m cash money in their possession. could this be a bribe money from Govnr. Akpabio to stop the pressmen writing bad stories about him looting akwa ibom state. police needs to find this issue out. poor people gets kidnapped no authority of the local, state or federal government ever say anything nor come to rescue. thanks to nigerian police, but no thanks

The youth, elders, ring leaders,
political leaders
getting what anyway they can
in this wild wild country, my beloved Nigeria.
Of Dog eat Dog.
Spiritual leaders where are you.

Welcome home.

What a forlorn hope.
We are spiritually kidnapped
When we look the other way when
there is hunger,
anger and poverty
in the land of milk, honey and oil.

The youth are restless.
As the country is helpless.
Without hope, 419 is the extent of their sincerity
as they lose respect for all authority.
more vulerability
is the answer for our work and toil.

The politicians,
elders,community leaders,
Imams, preachers have lost their soul.
As morality and spirituality
is replaced by money love.
Who will enact and enforce the law.

Governors, Chairmen, community leaders
where is your authority,
In this rat race of looting, rigging and kidnapping.
where jungle justice
now has the right of way.
in a land we are all handicapped.

Who will speak
for you and me.
Who will stand for the youth, the poor, the weak.
Who will right the wrong of the society disenfranchised
A society, short on hope and long on crime.
What a forlorn hope.

Elmango meat.

419, kidnapping and what next signs of a failing state, may GOD save nigeria.

God bless u ALUKE DANGOTE, u spoke my mind also,if these journalists have been shouting about this kidnapping and other social vices including corruption, maybe they wouldn't have fallen this victim, the chicken is coming home to roost.
The Nigerian journalists are also part of the problems we are facing in Nigeria today, the most important function of journalists is being a watchdog to the government of the day and check their excesses, but what we have in Nigeria are journalists that collect money from the government and the criminals(politicians)to sing their praises on the pages of newspapers and other media. The Nigerian journalists dont report on the evil that are being perpetrated by the governmnt neither do they say anything on other social vices bcos they know that it is an indictment on the government of the day-their masters, stupid Cowards.

In Nigeria, we're all pretenders. Kidnapping and all other social vices will stop only when the govt will do the right thing. How can you pay your workers monies not good enough to live as a dog ? Worst still you gave them guns to hold and protect lives and properties. Tell me one person with such opportunities and not exploit it. Nigerian politicians collect official one month salaries that civil/public servants might not collect for thirty - five years. How funny ? Salaries and wages commission wake up and do the right thing to stop kidnapping. No public sector worker is happy with his/her salary. Just take a sample survey.

The kidnappers would have heard enough ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and oti ohhhhhhhhhhh. we have paid so much to these kidnappers to release either a family member or friends. Three of my friends have been kidnapped between Oyibo and Ihie in the last five months and a reasonable ransom paid for there release. Since the government has been insensitive to the plight of the governed, what hope do we then have? My advise is that the Nigerian police should be overhauled. A lot of criminals have grown to the ranks of DPOs. So much crime under the watchful eyes of these so called DPOs.

Ordinary Nigerians that live in Nigeria will tell you all is well, don't blame them because they do not know, you really have to travel out of Nigeria as in overseas to know whats really happening in Nigeria, so who do you blame for that? So-called journalist of course they don't report those kinds of stories, the chief reason? the papers are owned by the same corrupt politicians or the so-called journalist are in on the take as in kick-back so nothing gets reported--- but thank GOD to SAHARAREPORTERS you all will remain blessed, most of this information are now available online --- my only concern is how many Nigerians have access to internet and for those that do, the majority either use it for chatting or 419 rackets-- please goto http://www.saharareporters.com if you really want to know whats happening in Nigeria, that's my take and am sticking to it

I know people will not like what I am about to say now, the truth of the matter is that their death on the hands of the kidnappers would have meant more to Nigeria as nation than their safe release, these are the same journalist that have been lying in bed with this corrupt politicians, so-called traditional rulers and supper corrupt Nigerian police officers.

This is exactly why we have been screaming our lungs out about the shame of kidnapping.Maybe a conference on corruption and Kidnapping should take place and recomendations by the participants taken note of by the Fed.Govt. for implementation. The lives and safety of both Nigerians , tourists and businessmen in Nigeria is at stake. The people who sponsor these miscreants must be flushed out and dealt with in short order. We are tired of this lawlessness in our society and govt.

Every State Governor in the Southeast like all the states of Nigeria collects N7o million every month as security vote. That is money they are not supposed to account to anyone. Now, if I may ask, what has the governors been doing with the funds? Is it as my friend in the UK said that it is a means at satiating them not to put their hands in the state treasury like Ibori and Dr. Odili.

I will implore here that every State Governor including the businessman, Mr. Peter Obi, of Anambra State who has been nonchalant about this kidnapping to deploy N35 million of this security vote monthly to employ, equip and train at least 5000 men and women to secure lives and property in the state rather than use it to buy up all the shares of Fidelity Bank..

It's good to hear this, but the Big Question is if our government will be sincere enough to tell us how they pay as ransome to effect their release. This ransome payment will only promote and Breed more kidnappers.

It's good to hear of their release, But the Big Question now is if our government will be sincere to tell us how much was paid to free them. This is the exact area where they have failed,as this ransome payment always promote and breed more kidnappers
