Goodluck Jonathan’s Legacy: Police Men Kill Three In Lagos, Two in Kano

Lagos police beating Ademola Aderinto before eventually shooting and killing him in Ogba Lagos
By Sahararareporters, New York

President Goodluck Jonathan’s order to the security services to crack down on the widespread civil disobedience has led to the extra-judicial killing of three peaceful protesters at the Pen Cinema area of Agege, Lagos, allegedly by one CSP Segun Olubunmi, the DPO of Pen Cinema police station driving a vehicle with registration number RS 101 LA. The police shot and killed Ademola Aderinlo after brutally torturing him on the street.

In Kano, the police also killed two other peaceful protesters today at the protest rallies there.   Many injuries have also been reported.

Helicopters gunships were seen hovering over the Gani Fawehinmi Park, Ojota, where over 150,000 gathered at the venue of the Save Nigeria Rally. All the protest rallies organised by the NLC and TUC terminated at the Gani Fawehinmi Park.

Currently, more than five people have lost their lives today to the brutality and constitutional rights violation of Mr. Jonathan’s security forces.

Reports of the killings infuriated the protesters in Lagos who defiantly began to curse Mr. Jonathan and to demand his resignation as the President of Nigeria.

Mr. Jonathan came to office only seven months ago, claiming to have obtained over 70% of the votes in most of Nigeria.

Life is important

People are dying since this strike started and if time is not taken more will still die apart from the ones that are hospitalize due to injury. NLC should please dialogue with the FG to keep our youth that will rule us tomorrow alive.

Let's protest insecurity not removal of subsidy

Boko Harem are killing other tribes in the name of religion but under political coloration. Yet we are mobilizing to the streets to protest a govt policy that can be reversed by just one man's statement. Fuel subsidy removal protests are influenced by the cabals that have milked us dry. They won't let our refineries work or PHCN. Say no to them. Fuel subsidy removal cannot 'kill' Nigeria/Nigerians. Boko Harem will & is doing. Be wise. Support GEJ. Think twice. Again Adams Oshimole was @ the fore front of Labour struggle some years back, where is his VOICE today. Two things: either he used us to get what he wanted or he has seen the light or truth. Pulse & Think. Where were the sons & daughters of the high & mighty agitators of Anti GEJ policy today.......

its not religious, political affiliation or enthnicity

most people frm bayelsa are taking this issue personal and thereby trivialising it.its all about our common existence.we ve not been enjoying b4 such dat they are asking us to sacrifice now..no.rather we ve been suffering while d government officials are grooving.pls we dnt need any increament now.remember dat a northerner ....Yaradua reduced d price of fuel in 2007 frm 70 to 65.jonathan is not addressing d issue of corruption which has ran d country dry becos him nd his 2011 campaign team majorly syphoned d 1.6 trillion naira for his election in d name of subsidy.

also add the fact that 90% of

also add the fact that 90% of the people that collect the subsidy cash are the big money bags in the area of the country that have been in power for so many years who are currently financing a war against the government your president is hitting his enemies in the pocket while at the same time doing something that will be very beneficial to all in the future. If you know strategy you will understand that anything that jonathan does these days has the war against boko at the heart of it so in the subsidy saga look for the boko angle and you will start to see what is going on. support your leader as his doom is yours and his success is your.

silly u

U r d idiot with ur silly information that dos nt av basis

Fuel subsidy

This is not a tribal issue, this is about Jonathan misruling Nigeria and nigerians.we will continue with this protest until our leaders learn to treat us right.it's about using our collective income to finance their greed

people will die in Vain by joseph

joseph, did you say citizens should not react to an unpopular policy taken by a govt supposedly of the poeple by the pple bcos he is a southerner? Then you are blinded by sentiments and you need to rethink. If past northern leaders have stolen is nothing to celebrate abt and that is why an objective Nigerians are Yearning for leadership that will bring past currupt leaders to book and be zero tolerant to corruption. If that is done, we won't be where we are today and there will not be only subsidy on ppetrol, but education and health. Nigeria had that wealth in abundance. Goodluck should wake and prioritize his action plans.

True

Spoken like a true and patriotic nigerian,it's evident you love your country unlike some cowards.

Subsidy

Everyone(the past leaders & the present leaders) & most of all YOU & I are all culprit to the Nigeria today, not this pretence in the of strike & protest is the way forward.

IFEANYI HOW MUCH WERE YOU PAID?

HOW MUCH WERE YOU PAID TO DO YOUR MASTER,S BIDDING? YOU MUST understand that in a war situation, people have no choice and therefore are forced by the situation to devise many ways to survive.
In our present situation and if going by precedence, the issue of suffering to survive should not arise at all. I will not be suprised if you are unemployed and have fallen prey to becoming a mecenary to GEJ for a reward of a pittence. This is not a forum for people like you. You can go to NTA. Shame on you !!

The timing is bad that's all part 4

If NNPC can emlploy Bomb detection dogs and pay 8 million naira per month for each dog which are 4 or 5 in number, aso rock garden maintenance can cost 200mill monthly, Dame patience can spend 500mill to renovate her office and Deziani collect $8 per metric tone of imports on deisel of about 30,000 mt per shipment from the same cabal members she claims to be fighting against Then how can we trust them with our blood money.

SOUTHERN NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS

SOUTHERN NIGERIAN CHRISTIANS DISGUISE THEMSELVES AS MUSLIMS AND DETONATE BOMBS AND BLOW AWAY CHURCHES AND KILL INNOCENT WORSHIPERS UNDER THE NAME OF BOKO HARAM. ALL THE PEOPLE CAUGHT SO FAR PLANTING BOMBS IN CURCHES AND ELSEWHERE ARE SOUTHERN CHRISTIANS. ITS TIME FOR THE WORLD TO KNOW WHO THE REAL BOKO HARAM IS. THE PRESIDENT WHO MUST BE DEFINITELY AWARE OF THE SITUATION KEPT MUTE OR SILENT OVER THE ISSUES SINCE HE KNOWS THE GUYS BEHIND BOKO HARAM ARE HIS PEOPLE; TO LOOK GOOD IN THEIR EYES HE USES THE NIGERIAN POLICE FORCE AND MILITARY TO EXTRA JUDICIOUSLY KILL INNOCENT PEOPLE. I BELIEVE THE PRESIDENT MR. BADLUCK SHOULD BE HANDED OVER TO THE ICC IN THE HAGUE. NOW TO YOU MY FRIEND, HOPE YOU'VE REALISED THAT YOU ARE INDEED THE IDIOT? IDIOT!!!

Who is this guy?

What are you talking about going back to the era of fuel scarcity! You are obviously the most ignorant, insensitive and by all means illiterate person so far. What has gej done since he came to office? Bush man! Maybe they paid you to comment. If only you had any idea you wouldn't dare put that write up. Sell out. So all of a sudden the executive have become geniuses and they've figured out how to solve our issues.

The timing is bad that's all part 3

If a group that started as a nusance in 2002 and fighting with bows and arrows, had their leader arrested twice and released then finally arrested a third time just to be murdered in police custody suddenly turn into a tool of national division and diversion from national issues such as subsidy removal then how can we trust this Govt with our blood money

THIS IS WICKEDNESS

GEJ does this please you? The slaughter of innocent people just because they r defending their rights?this is wickedness

oponu

you r definately a fool that has probably never worked for his meal, since all u av 2 do is kidnap people..4 us who dont many eat twice a day b4 now when d cost of tins hav doubled how u won make we chop? D money na wetin dem go use am do but chop am? No electricity, no job, no water, high cost of transportation, no refinery, bad livin condition, boko haram, we get oil 4 our country but dem want make we dey pay d same rate as those that dont... So leave ur sentiment and say d truth.

The timing is Bad that's all part 2

If deizani travels by chartered flights, has refurbished her office to include a jacuzzi, collects kick backs from the crude oil litters, and more importantly the very importers that she and her colleagues claim to be Condeming and had 40 billion naira presented as her contribution to Goodluck/ Sambo campaign how can we trust this Government with our blood money

This subsidy thing..

The real government worthy of these insults we are raining on GEJ is the govt that brought into operation this subsidy thing. They are the real fathers of corruption and lacked the intelligence to start such a project and not end it. While I am in support of the removal of this subsidy thing. I am also of the opinion that it was done unintelligibly. First GEJ should have met all the crude oil bunkerers especially the Forbes list ones and made them give back the moneys they have been making all these years on us by building refineries in Nigeria within a time frame of 2 yrs while doing this, concentrate on bringing our existing refineries back up to capacity and when all are good to go, let competition set in, remove subsidy and put a price ceiling far below even the market price of fuel today. This way the bunkerers will be made to pay and not this way that punishes the innocent common Nigerian for no reason.

May God forgive u cos ur

May God forgive u cos ur generation yet unborn will cry for mercy for what u just said.

forget me not

Let us not forget the first to be killed in this course. The youth from ilorin who was also shot by men from the Nigeria police force. We seem to have forgotten him so soon.

uneducated & very stupid IG of police

The crackdown of the indecent protesters doesn't include the killings & brutality of Nigerian citizens...its our constitutional rights to protest whatsoever we feel is not right in our great nation.its times like this that I'm not we are not so proud to be nigerians, when our fellow citizens are being brutalized and killed.....the IG of police should resign, for his failure to handle such sensitive matter with wisdom...I'm in support of fuel subsidy but the scenerios today will certainly put a doubt in my mind and millions of other Nigerians that
are in support of the removal......WHAT A SHAME!

nigeria revolution

The revolution dawn is here. Poor GEJ on easy lies the head that wears the crown. Wheather Jonathan or somebody else when the time is ripe Nigerians will totally be librated. It has been too long coming. For years now I for one has been asking 'When is the REVOLUTION'.dreaded Boko Haram Murdrers plus on necessary subsidy myopic ill timed subsidy withdrawal coupled with years of looting Nigeria treasury and unnecessary deaths on Nigeria roads and astronomical unparallels of unemployment in all the nooks and crnies of Nigeria finally gave birth to this revolution. We should. Stop calling it subsidy protests. Call a spade a spade and not just an ordinary garden tool.

ashame of themself

I was very disappointed by some people comment here, coz they are completely ignorant about what is happenin here in our country.

The timing is Bad that's all part 1

Gentlemen "for the removal" open up your minds. Currently 800mill is being spent to protect delta state pipeline every three months, 400mill on Rivers state & 400mill on Bayelsa, EVERY 3 MONTHS! The likes of TOMPOLO in delta, ASARI in rivers and BOYLOAF in Bayelsa are sharing this loot with Deizaniand and the NSA. This money is not in the budget but paid by NNPC. Simply for manning this lines with their boys who still vandalize them. How can we trust this Govt. to entrust them with our blood money

gone through the comment and see fools hailing the president

FORMER PETROLEUM MINISTER ON FUEL SUBSIDY REMOVAL
1) One barrel of Crude oil = 42gallons or 159 litres
2) Our Refineries (i.e 4) Installed (combined) capacity = 445,000 barrels per day
3) Actual refineries capacity due to ageing equipment = 30% i.e. 133,500 barrels per day
4) 133,500 barrels = 21.2 million litres
5) Local required consumption (F.O.S) = 12millions litres
6) It means that even our MORIBOND refineries can actually meet our local consumption need of petroleum.
7) The cost structure of crude oil (i.e. Qua Iboe Crude Oil) production;
Findings / development – $3.5
Production cost – $1.5
Refining Cost – $12.6
Pipeline/transportation – $1.5
Distr/bridging fund Margin -$15.69
True cost of one litre of petroleum anywhere in Nigeria;
Total sum cost = $34.8
1ltr cost = $34.8/159 litres = $0.219
Naira equiv. 0.219xN160= N35.02k
Add Tax N5 + N35.02 = N40.02
9) Let FGN refute the above composition and if not, they should tell us how they came about N65/litre.

@ifeanyi

You must be an insane brother related to Jolatern's Olodo wife.
I don't want to believe a sane nigerian will be sayin what u just wrote unless he is absent of common sense.

One the by His Grace the truth will be told about the Biafran episode.May I know how old you are. Ask your parents tell you the truth about Biafra and the current killing of Southerner today in Northern Nigeria. If you like what is happening today, then you will know what happened to why Biafra and the 20 pounds handed to some of them after the civil war.
