Governor Yakowa, Kaduna PDP, Accused Of Fielding EFCC Suspect in Forthcoming LGA Elections
Kaduna State Governor, Mr. Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, who touts his credentials as a ‘clean’ governor, is facing a serious credibility challenge, accused of imposing a questionable candidate to take control of Jema’a, his local government of origin.
The candidate in question is Daniel Amos, who, along with two others, was allegedly prosecuted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in 2005 in Lagos State for collecting over three million Naira using false pretences.
Mr. Yakowa, along with the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other party top shots in the State, are accused of partnering in a conspiracy that produced only one candidate, and a flawed one, in the PDP primaries despite evidence of his prosecution by the EFCC.
Mr. Amos was arraigned before an Ikeja court on August 5, 2005, but allegedly vanished after the first hearing.
Sources in the town of Kaduna, who made the charges papers available, say the trial is unfinished and the suspects are still wanted by the EFCC.
