Gunmen boarded an Exxon Mobil oil rig offshore Nigeria on Friday, attacking and wounding one worker on board and abducting another, the local unit of the U.S. oil major, Exxon Mobil said.

Mobil Producing Nigeria (MPN), operator of the joint venture with the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, confirms that in the early hours of Friday, some armed men attacked a supply vessel near one of our platforms, offshore Akwa Ibom State, Gloria Essien Dannar MPN spokesperson said.

One person on the vessel was injured, and another "was taken away to an unknown destination", the spokesperson said. "The incident has been reported to security and relevant government agencies."

Mobil operates the 960,000 barrels per day crude export terminal off Ibeno shoreline in Akwa Ibom.

Abduction

That is a very sad situation. Abductions happen all the time, and a lot of them get unnoticed because of their frequency. There are times when people seem less human and there primary focus is on themselves and not of the needy world around them. In the end I do believe things we start turning around for the better. new trend

CHRISTIAN MILITANTS

Christian militants again! Hungry people.
Go to school, get skilled n get employed.
Ogogoro, shekpe, cowtail, egbo, weewee, marijuana, cnoko, coca, cultism, no go give una employment. Lazy craps!!!
Na so, our gals full Abuja Hausa/Fulani n Yoruba dem dey f--k freely.

Don't Point Fingers In Wrong Directions

On the issue of who benefited or not, let us be clear that Yoruba people never depended on oil be the one in their own backyard or the one elsewhere. Our progressive nature, peaceful lifestyle and desire to be educated and maximize our potentials has nothing to do with Oil.Eko that you mentioned is Lagos! I cant remember when it became SE property. Also, free education by the late sage Obafemi Awolowo was financed using proceed from efficient leverage of the proceed from the Cocoa business.

On issue at hand, let us be clear that Akwa Ibom people or any other people all are involved in Oil dealings with the companies. The oil field in question is located offshore. What it simply means is that no farmer will rant over farmland destruction!

Akwa Ibom people should

Akwa Ibom people should renegotiate with the oil companies so that oil money goes straight to the state government. Hausa Fulani Yorubas have benefited enough from SE, SS oil. Eko and free education were hand to the Yorubas while Abuja and free everything including trained graduates were handed to Hausa Fulani. What did SE, SS get in return? SE got genocide and exclusion while SS got terrible neglect and insult from Hausa Fulani Yoruba.

The Abduction

I really used to be concerned about the people kidnapped or hurt in these skirmishes. I have finally figured out that both the oil companies and their Nigerian partners
cares less about the indegenes of their areas of operation.
Everybody is out for the dollar and to hell with every one else. Therefore I may have empathy for the individual but at the end of the day, Exxon must have taken the risks in consideration in her decision to be in the Niger Delta. It must be very profitable and worth the risk.
Meanwhile Nigeria's leadership sees and hears nothing but dollars.
I just wish I cared for the place like I use to. It should not be that difficult to treat others as you would like to be treated except within Nigeria's leadership.

shame

Nigeria how long will this continue
