First of all,many of those in prisons in Nigeria do not deserve to be in prison,while many who are free and respected in society deserve to be behind bars.In Nigeria only the poor go to jail,there is no elaborate payroll system and accused persons spend more years awaiting trial than the total sentence for their alleged crimes.
The conditions in Nigerian prisons are mostly sub-human,the prisoners are fed and kept like pigs and prison deaths are hardly investigated while communicable diseases are rife.
Our private jet-loving politicians don't have time for motorable roads,hospitals,or a qualitative educational system so our Prison system is the least in their priorities.We will remain in the jungle system for long,our wicked establishment have little or no human feelings,Prisons are correctional institutions in most civilised countries,in Nigeria it is a slow death sentence.
