IBB’s Day Of Reckoning Will Come, Says Vatsa’s Family-The Nation

By military rule, Vatsa had participated in a coup to kill his friend, if the coup succeeded, he , Vatsa would have come out with a sentimental excuse that he did it in the interest of the nation, BETRAYER is BETRAYER. Loyalty is absolute no matter what! If OBJ had succeeded in killing Abacha in those days of 1995 coup, he would have said he did it for Nigeria and take undue credit, but when it leaked and he was arrested, he denied like a coward that he was framed up. God bless the soul of Gen. Abdulkarim Adisa, of Ilorin, even though Diya another man from Ogun State denied being involved in a coup, it was obvious that by Military standard and practice, a coup was planned. Only TRUTH can make a man excel. When elders tell lies, what future for a nation? Maman Vatsa's people should face the reality and know that their son of father had committed sacriledge and went in for it. There is no partial loyality, it must be total and absolute. IBB was VATSA'S best man and not the other way round.
We still stand to question if there was really a coup or where those men executed based on allegations which the government of the day Trumped up based on weak circumstantial evidence and evidence induced under sever torturer.
Till date , the apologists and supporters of that government have seemingly failed to show concrete evidence of the modus oparandi of the alleged VATSA COUP.

Planning or conceptualizing a coup was not regarded as the same as actually carrying it out (as was the case with Dimka and others in 1976).
If we must now rationalize on this, Abacha ran a Military government and equally charged others with attempted coups!So please tell us clearly why where they not executed and acid poured on their remains like was done to Vatsa and others? is this Military law? or a law put in place by a government which was determined to get rid of those men for reasons best know to them!

It's always good for us to state facts as they are and not try in anyway to distort history!For this we all collectively owe to posterity.
The law indeed is no respecter of persons and is applicable to all!But in the course of trying to understand what went on we must be open minded and not try to distort facts.

The Treason and Other Offences (Special Military Tribunal) Decree of l986 empowered the AFRC to constitute special tribunal to try military and civilian personnel for any offenses connected with rebellion.

The military laws holds supreme in the armed forces and a coup which is unsuccessful is punishable by death, irrespective of friends or foe. Vasta was implicated in a botched coup and we as civilians have no locus standing to know who is innocent or guilty. The military tribunal has judged and punishment metted out according to the dictates of the Law of the armed forces. If he is innocent, let God be the final judge between IBB, his tribunal members and Vasta. If he is saying he is sorry for killing a friend, well let us accept it but it does not exonerate him (IBB) for other wrongs he has done to our nation. if someone plots a coup, let me or her die because it is them who made the law and stand by it. he cannot forgive him because he is a friend, best man and colleague. what about other coup plotters?? Nothing good can come out of IBB. I think Nigerians are unnecessarily sentimental over this Vatsa issue. My dad was a Military man. I lived in the barracks. I understand Military laws, ethics and traditions. The Military is NOT a place for sentiments and emotions- soldiers are not wired that way.
The questions we should ask are simple: 1) Did Vatsa plan a coup or not? 2) Is coup plotting a treasonable offence or not? 3) What is the punishment for coup plotting? Answers: 1) YES. 2) YES. 3) DEATH.
I honestly don't see what IBB did wrong here- Vatsa being his best man is a non issue! Maybe IBB should have spared him because he was his best man and executed the others...?

We have said it before: it is only Nigeria that the likes of the self proclaimed evil devil like IBB will still be talking. But it is good. The torment of the devil has only just begun. He even dared to declare he was interested in becoming the elected President of Nigeria; a country he has mistreated and maltreated!

Divine justice may be slow but it is sure. Let those who know him advise him to make peace with the Almighty Creator who has promised forgiveness to all who genuinely repent. IBB took Nigeria back more than a hundred years.

To the Vasta's family, my advice is to try and forgive and allow God to have His way.

It's clear that Maj.Gen. Maman Vatsa was involved in a coup. For anyone who understands politics, it was clear he was not going to be spared. It was all politics. Politics is all about power and power, all about politics. He rolled a dice and lost. There was hardly anyway his life would have been spared, under the circumstance. Otherwise, others would also have tried to topple the government. It's got nothing to do with constitutionality. It happens all over the world. Let's remove emotions and let bygone be bygone. Who among you all running your mouth would have acted differently, were you at the helm of affairs? These are state issues, go read your books on history. Let's not be childish.
