Ibori's Money Laundering Case: Wale Babalakin A No Show In Lagos Court

Wale Babalakin
By SaharaReporters, New York

Lagos businessman accused of helping jailed former governor of delta State, James Ibori, to launder millions of dollars diverted to buy a private jet failed to show up before a Lagos court judge today.

Mr. Wale Babalakin could not be arraigned in court today as the Economic And financial Commission (EFCC) could not produce him before the judge.

However, Mr. Babalakin attorneys claimed that he was "too ill" to attend today's court hearing and thus pleaded with the judge to postpone his arraignment till a later date.

Saharareporters learns that since his planned arraignment, Babalakin has been moving around in Abuja, accompanied by his father to prevail on President Goodluck Jonathan to stop his arraignment by the EFCC.

The trial judge has adjourned his arraignment till December 12 2012.

Buhari/IDIAGBON regime tried

Buhari/IDIAGBON regime tried to put Nigeria on the right path but babaginda and his corrupt and greedy team did not allow the regime to last. Nigerians believed in Buhari/IDIAGBON, not Buhari alone. He, Buhari was part of Abacha's looting govt, that shows that we can't trust him. Unfortunately uncle Idiagbon is no more. That was the only man that we could trust.

HIS COMPANY SPEAKS VOLUME OF HIS CHARACTER.

Kusheshe has built a name, earned his status, garnered charisma, but appears to have traded off character. What with his relational bond with, Ibori, Saraki Bukola and his advocate Sanusi Lamido? He is an anything goes man. If found to have done the crime, he should gladly serve the term father or no father. May we know more of our crooks called businessmen. As a Senior Advocate, he knew what he was doing at every point in time. Baba should leave him to answer for his actions without thwarting nor perverting the course of justice with prostration.

@SAM AKA Remi

Anybody that is afraid of Buhari's Presidency is a rogue. Only a thief will be scared of his government. Awon Ole JATIJATI!!!! Oponu Ayirada!

A show of judicial grandstanding!

This is only a show of judicial grandstanding similar to what happened in the Dimeji Bankole's case! At the end everything fizzles out into nothingness. This is only a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury and signifying nothing. In fact Nigerians are increasingly becoming mad and crazy at looting and plundering public funds and daring anybody to interfere! This man's lassitude and lackadaisical approach at handling the Lagos-Ibadan road contract was only deliberate, for he was intent on getting as much unearned money as possible from government, not minding the serious collateral consequences of the mass deaths resulting from neglect of that road! May God have mercy on us! Influential people from his zone will now pressure Jonathan to give this man a relief! What a country!

Ridiculous Nonsense

We need a consensus builder not a hardliner like Buhari. I will vote for Jonanthan again if Buhari runs again and by the way why is it only Buhari? or is there no other principled men out there? Why dont you guys champion people like Ribadu, fashola, Sanusi etc.

@Sunday njokede. Buhari was & is never a saint.

But buhari could not help prevent abacha from stealing/looting our treasury between 1994 and 1998. He (buhari) rather joined him (abacha) in the looting sprees

Vote Buhari President 2015 To Stop Corruption And Looting!!!

This would never have happened in a Buhari government. Everyone would have been on a straight line for the betterment of society. This is Jonathan’s regime and the rich and famous just do as they chose. They are all above the constitution. If it were a poor, miserable man or woman the EFCC could have been able to bring him to court.

When will he kiss the dust

When will this fine looking Nigerian going to kiss the dust for chopping too much?

Nigerian Factor

Suddenly, he is sick. What a joke country.

A failed Justice System, A Failed State !

"Babalakin has been moving around in Abuja, accompanied by his father" and bargaining for the "price" for his freedom. Simple. That's Naija for those who see a future in that jungle, and those who think it's worth another 52yrs. of co-corruption. Nobody has a right to question the government they voted into power. Once elected, power becomes absolute! Accountability dissipates. Hustling Abuja for reprieve knowing that Justice is for Sale. Afterall, a $12bn stolen funds case just got tossed out the windows, Babalakin will survive, he has Daddy's "moral support" and Dumbo is a "listening" President. He's the Kingpin of Corruption himself. Thugs ignore the courts while "talks" continue, it would have been a surprise if he showed up in a Lagos Court, ke! Next story jare!

Abani-eda!

Abani-eda!

just another day

Its just another day in the hopless cesspit of cprruption that is eating away at our national identity.
Whos going to jail who?
The judge wey dey fill im pocket?
I dont think so.
Maybe an orange seller will be fined for some fake crime, but certainly not MR BIGSHOT wey help loot the nation.
We have no hope in the courts.
They dont exist to jail corrupt BIG GUYS.
Why not just close them to cases of corruption and leave us to reality?

BABALAKIN:MAKING FUN OF THE MEDIOCRE LEGAL SYSTEM.

"HE WAS TOO SICK TO ATTEND",What a country?well going by records,he has cornered enough money from the corrupt system and he is capable of making the Judge look like a monkey.
Many like the Sarakis and Bankoles have done it in the past and walked free why not him, after all he has the connections and the cash to run rings round a spineless Judiciary which has no credibility.
Mark my words, this one more case which will be flushed down the drain-pipe,Nigeria is one huge joke of a "country",was he admitted in a hospital,if so, since when and what was the nature of the sickness, why must the Judiciary be pushed around by the rich and connected in a country where commoners are detained without trial for very minor offences for indefinite periods, where prisoners live in sub-human conditions while awaiting trial indefinitely.
This preferential treatment for rich thieves will crash this Nation.

Jail he belong

This man Babalakin should be made to spend Christmas in jail for toying with the law of Nigeria. The friend of a thieve, is a thief.
