Jonathan Sacks Onovo and Director General Of SSS, Gadzama
President Goodluck Jonathan has carried out far reaching shake up of the police and the intelligence services today by removing the Inspector general of police, Ogbonna Onovo and replaced him with Hafiz Ringim
. Mr. Ringim will act as Inspector general of Police pending his confirmation by the national assembly. Also removed is the director general of the State security Services, Mr. Gadzama. The yar'adua era SSS director was noted for harassing online bloggers. He is replaced with Ita Ekpeyong.
More to come>>>
WHAT WOULD YOU GAIN
@Tony Canada is it fair to accuse a man without evidence, pls l need you to prove the crime commited by the Commissioner of Police, lagos state if you are unable to prove it then l sentence you to dryness and sealing of your lips for life. To other writers l say the day Nigerians grow up and not be ethnic or religion concious then this country will move forward. ONE NIGERIA ONE NATION. SEVERAL ETHNICS FALLEN NATION
noyhing for the north
@ Umunna Timithy = its either you are an illiterate trader or a coward hinding his identity. see your writing, and you have the effontry to call others illeterate. Shame on a useless man like you.
Northern Cabal, Power Drunkeredness And Rudderless Vision
We are Nigerians alright, just like in the Animal Farm, were some animals are more equal than the others. I hope the this gworo chewing and cattle rearing mallam would understand my dogon turenci, big grammar. I was born and bred up North and grew up there, attended the respected Igbo Union Grammar School, and also accepted into St Paul's College, Zaria, which later changed it's name to Barewa College. I know the North very well, and most of my friends are from there. However, how mallams have doggedly hung unto power as if it's your Divine rights is very troubling. Mallams have ruled our country for 38 years out of 50, yet, it remains the least developed, least educated and the poorest. You know why? Nemesis and Karma. One of the writers hit the nail on the head. Mallams are well known to be first class looters of our Treasury, and that why they always want the Finance Portfolio and CBN. Not only that how come they are the ones involved in illegal foreign currency business?. Few of my friends attended the same university with me here in the States, the likes of our High Commissioner to South Africa, whom I used to teach at the University, another Nigeria's former Ambassador to Japan, and retired DG in the Foreign Ministry, former Kaduna Military Governor, the list is endless. These men in a way are decent, but we had our disagreements. Thus, moved on. I'm a southern, an Igbo who would have been at the corridor of power were I to be a mallam. I don't regret it. Igbos fought a necessary war of survival which infact was to be a war to annihilate Igbos. I can assure you that today, there's no ethnic in Nigeria that's capable of doing what the Igbos did back then. And the societal ills that became the bane of the war is still much alive with us today. Now someone mentioned the Yorubas, yes they enjoyed free education while Pa Awo was the Premier of Western Nigeria, and had the highest number of graduates as early as in the 1930's , but 20 years later the Igbos have caught up and even surpassed our Yoruba compatriots through sheer of dint of hard work. Where's mallam in all this?, still not ready for our independence. Yet in 1960, Whitehall handed over to a half baked mallam. I could go on and on about Nigeria's political history which has been distorted to favor a section of the country. Mallam should bury their heads in shame. they are responsible for Nigeria's woes. For example, why is it expedient to appoint an Igbo or Yoruba to finetune our economy after mallams have looted the economy. Gentlemen think about this.
RE:ONOVOS REMOVAL IS OK
Why must Nigerians play the ethnic card when somebody is removed from government? Corruption in Nigeria is not exclusive to Igbo, Yoruba or Hausa. When it comes to national cake sharing, no tribal sentiment is employed by the 'sharers'. We are all guilty because we never love the country - Nigeria.
JIMOH IBRAHIM SHOULD HAVE BEEN REMOVE ALONG WITH THE SERVICE CHI
Appointment of Jimoh Ibrahim chairman of the Corporate Affairs Commission was, in the first place a mistake. A mistake because the former president who appointed him did not have sufficient security report on him; he merely relied on what his thiefing cohort, Aonduaka (I don't know the spelling, but I mean former Minister of Justice or was he Minister of Injustice?). Jimoh merely used his position to perfect all his fraudulent companies, especially the ones he has used to defraud Nicon Insurance.
Because he is a daft, he started meddling into the day-to-day affairs of organisation without considering his limits as norminal chairman. This led to a three-day warning strike by the staff. What a shame? This is enough for Mr President to immediately fire him and institute an enquiry; including an inquiry into his activities in Nicon Insurance, Wema Bank, BPE etc. Ask NDIC, CBN, and staff and former staff of Nicon Insurance and Nigerian Re.
young man go back to school
young man go back to school and get your grammer right, your are just a road block police man, you cant reason from your brain, sad and unfortunate for you and your genaration
RE:ONOVOS REMOVAL IS OK
Coward! Why hide your identity, when you label the Igbos as the most corrupt tribe in Nigeria you must have your head examined. For the past 50years of Nigerians existence, the Igbos have only ruled for less than a year(Gen. Ironsi), other rulers have come from other parts of the country and yet Nigeria is known as one of the most corrupt state in world.Who is responsible, Igbos? Try and get your facts right, COWARD!!Remember all previous IGs had corruption issues(Tafa, Ikiro etc), were they Igbos, but no Igbo man is cruciffied them. Novo was not removed because of corruption charges.
IT IS ALL ABOUT COMING ELECTION
Come to think of it, the only plausible reason for the removal of IG and the appointment of an Igboman as army cheif of staff is to strategise for the coming election.
I think Mr Onovo will be the happiest man to be releived of the "nightmare" called policing corruptible nation as Nigeria. Put simply, there is no antidote for kidnapping and armed robery in this country as long as vast majority of the youths are unemployed.
9JA We Hail Thee
Nigeria is s country where anything goes. My only fear is that people that are appointed or elevated into some sensitive national positions will start doing their job in a way that they don't know when they could kicked out of office. Imagine Remi Babalola, former Minister of State, Finance was relegated and disgraced just because he said the truth. "nigeria is a very funny country u know". WHO IS NOW THE ANGEL?
maina must go
How are the mighty fallen, the beauty of machinations, extreme fundamentalism is exposed in high places, once upon a time maina a GOC in jos held sway, talked uncultured, sure his days are numbered, good nigerians join in this campaign to save plateau people
ONOVOS REMOVAL IS OK.
IGBOS are worst corrupted tribe in Nigeria, provided money is involved in any matter, an Igbo man will be behind you. Imagine Babangida, he went to Anambra to start his campaign. Why not Kogi state?.You shameless Igbos have did you pay before Onovo was appointed?, did you care to know his relationship with his junior officers?,. Onovo is gone for ever no more.
Nigerias Talk As One
When will Nigerians start thinknig and talking in the interest of the country instead of all this negative tribal stuff.
If you must critise someone be objctive about it make your point and stop dragging tribalism into it.
why tribal sentiment??????
we are here to work together to bulit up nigeria, not to talk about who is I.G. the tribe he belong who should not blame the I.G. THERE is alot of challenges he face during is tenure.let him be
RIGHT CHANGES
I HOPE THAT THE NATION WILL EXPECT MORE CHANGES IN THE BODY POLITY AS WELL AS TO SANITIZE THE SYSTEM ESPECIALLY AS IT CONCERNS FIGHTING CORRUPTION.HOWEVER,THOSE FOUND CULPABLE SHOULD BE BROUGHT TO FACE THE LAW.
Riging of 2011
This is the beginning of election rigging.
EXCELLENT DECISION
I THINK IT WAS A RIGHT STEP IN THE RIGHT DIRECTION.GEJ PLEASE RIDE ON.
And the daft president thinks
And the daft president thinks that it is Onovo's fault that the country lacks a proper database, good health care, standard educational institution, good road, industries to engage the jobless, sufficient prisons for corrupt leaders, accountability on the part of the so called leaders.
does he expect onovo to provide all these? half baked measures such as taking your reserve to train teachers who are underpaid have not been paid for months cant solve the enormous problem this country is faced with
Plateau State GOC Next on list...
Excellent work President Jonathan! PLEASE DON'T FORGET to SACK Major General Saleh Maina, the General Officer Commanding third Armoured Division, JOS. I'll keep reminding you my President...
Plateau State GOC Next on list...
Excellent work President Jonathan! PLEASE DON'T FORGET to SACK Major General Saleh Maina, the General Officer Commanding third Armoured Division, JOS. I'll keep reminding you my President...
Onovo was a waste basket in uniform!
Okiro was one police man who was abused from pillar to post here. None gave him the chance to prove himself worthy of the uniform or the socalled unthinking south south epulets, that he adorned his shoulder with. Then came the turn of Onovo. Onovo was even preferred to Okiro. But Onovo turned out to be one of the worst police officers that, Ribadu was quietly aspiring to take over from by hook or crook. Hope we are not being told here that, late UMAYA sacked Ribadu because of his second term....Now that GEJ has removed the waste basket in police uniform from the South East, we have them claim that GEJ did it because of the forth coming elelctions. Its only an empty unthinking tribal head, that wld reason that way. The kidnappers were operating in his territory at will. Yet it took a presidential order and will to end it. When the president deployed troops to the South East, to stem the rising tide of kidnappers, he did not do it because he wanted to win election then abi? Wake up man!
GROW UP IGBOS
Since the removal of onovo a few hours ago,the igbos have being writing all sorts casting aspersions at him. abeg shame nor dey catch una? how many people don talk about theirown. for your information maybe your memory is very short when okiro was in charge how many kidnappers did he arrest from his state rivers. please shut your mouth and be objective, the president only did the changes to enable him win elections and not because he has the interest of 9ja or any tribe in 9ja for heart.
lagos comissioner should go...very corrupt Akpoyibo
i will be glad if Akpoyibo should go, he is the next thief to go please presido
NOYHING FOR THE NORTH
WHO DO YOU THINK WILL BE ABLE TO MAN NIGERIA?THOSE BUNCH OF IDIOTA FROM THE NORTH?WHO DO YOU WANT TO MECTION THAT HAVE NOT FAILED?WAS IT THE DEAD MAN THAT WAS BROUGHT??YOUR ILLETRATE OF NORTHERNERS TO RULE NIGERIA??BETTER YOU GO LOOKING AFTER COWS,OTHER THAN SEEK POWER.....ABOKI
fools
ALL OF YOU WHO HAVE SAT TO WRITE OR CALL IGBOS NAMES ARE THE GREATEST FOOL OF AL COS WHEN A PERSON MAKES A COMMENT COMMENT ON THE PERSON NOT THE ENTIRE IGBOS SO ALL YOU GUYS ARE BAUNCH OF GOATS...........EWU GAMBIA
Onovo's Removal is robbing Peter to pay Paul.
Onovo of other security chiefs removed will have most to regret. He has been on his duty post for barely a year. In that period, Onovo was confronted with Boko Haram riots, Jos mass killings, Yar Adua cabal saga, South-East kidnappings and Anambra State governorship elections. In all these situations, individual opinions might differ but i can say that Onovo did his best in very challanging circumstances. If President Jonathan wants to really re-shape security services, re-considerations should have been given to Onovo becuase he was just beginning to settle-down to work. The new acting-IG will start all over again and could be removed next year to make way for another officer. In all these dramas, what is happening to EFCC leadership, FRSC, House of Rep Speaker with fraud allegations..These ones are not necessarily essential part of winning strategy for 2011 elections. Posterity will surely judge Onovo, Jonathan and the rest of us.
Finally, the wounds of the
Finally, the wounds of the civil war have been healed with the appointment of an Igbo man as army chief. Good move GEJ.
Waw.. crucify him, crucify him....!!!
While many a cheering the removal of Mr. Onovo, ( Whom I personally think is just like the ones before him but not in anyway worse). Who will be the next after Onovo, an angel? You guys should get real, Nigeria is a dead case, A no man's land, period!
People tend to forget that there are serious plot to rubbish any Igbo man that is stupid enough to jump into the wagon of a sinked Titanic called Nigeria.
Yes Onovo is incompetent as many will jump into the conclusion, but did anyone ask under what condition did he work? Was he there as a ceremonial IG. like 'Zik', or was he just starved of fund so he could fail?
Not long ago the so called 'jet flying' Jonathan, dash almost =N=90 Billion to Jaga jaga of INEC. for yet another round of joke called election. Yet the police force they all want to perform wonders is not getting any thing worth buy sweets.
Some ignorant people are now throwing all sorts of shit on this man, yet the ones before him that looted Billions are celebrated as heros.. What a shame!!!
Nigeria is just a dead carcass that the evil vultures (cabal) are feeding fat on! Its splitting is long overdue!
this igbo man and stupidity
Igbos are the most tribalistic people in Nigeria, so u are simply talking rubbish shelve it.
GJ stop deceiving yourself
GJ, we know were you are heading to, stop deceiving yourself, election will come, get ready for the fight, those so call Northerners who are seeking for you to contest are only deceiving you, non of them can give you his WARD not to talk of their Local Government. change Service Chiefs one million times the story will be the same in Jigawa,Kano,Sokoto,Zamfara,Bauchi,Yobe,Maiduguri and many more. NO to Johnathan NO.
I can comment only on the
I can comment only on the IG's removal. Onovo is the most incompetent IGP Nigeria has ever had. He is long overdue on that seat. equally worse is his replacement. AIG Rigim has been the AIG in Umuahia(Abia), capital of kidnapping in Nigeria. How come he has done nothing in Abia and the eastern states' security situation? Seems business of kidnapping will continue as usual. If he couldn't stop it while residing in Abia, he can't living in Abuja.
