JTF Warns Boko Haram Against Attacking Military Barracks in Maiduguri
In an unusual move, the Joint Task Force in Maiduguri today warned Boko Haram that any attack on military barracks in the metropolis, particularly the Headquarters of the 21 Armoured Brigade, would be counterproductive as it would massively jeopardize the security of their members in military custody.
In a statement signed by spokesman Lt. Col. Sagir Musa, JTF said its ‘Operation RESTORE ORDER’ has information about clandestine plans by the terrorists to that effect, and that it will “decisively destroy such attacks on any of its barracks within its Area of Operational Responsibility.”
It urged the Giwa barracks host community, particularly owners of houses bordering the barracks, to be watchful and to quickly alert the JTF of any suspicious movement in their area through the Operation’s 24-hour Hot Lines: 080-64174066, 070-85464012, and 081-54429346.
