Mohammed Morsi Sworn in as Egypt’s First Democratically Elected President
Mohammed Morsi was formally sworn in as Egypt’s first democratically elected civilian president at Cairo University on Saturday. On Friday, Morsi took the oath of President in front of thousands of cheering people. at Tahrir Square.
Morsi is a part of the Muslim Brotherhood party and won Egypt’s first election five days ago by 51% to the 48% gained by rival Ahmed Shafiq.
Morsi has vowed to be inclusive of all Egyptians, including protecting the rights of women and the country’s Coptic Christians.
