Money Laundering: Governor Lamido's Son Released On Bail

By SaharaReporters, New York

Aminu Sule, the eldest son of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state who was arrested yesterday for money laundering has been released on bail today after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) filed charges at a Federal High court in Kano.

EFCC officials in Kano said the governor's son was released on administrative bail as there were no judges available to take his plea today due to "judges conference" taking place in Abuja.

Aminu was arrested yesterday at the Mallam Aminu Kano International airport by EFCCC officials after failing to disclose that he had $50,000 in his possession. He had only declared $10,000 until a search turned up extra $40,000 cash in his traveling bag.

An aide to the governor in a letter to SaharaReporters last night claimed Aminu was traveling to Egypt to cater to his daughter who was receiving treatment for a spinal cord disease in Cairo.

@Easy: They're mostly political, social, & economic wars

When battles are fought, both combatants claim they are right for what they did.

The Crusaders believed they're fighting for God but to those at the receiving end, they're terrorists

Most of these wars are not religious but political, social, & economic. For eg., the reasons given for the Iraq war are: fighting terrorism & spreading democracy.

The real reason, for your information, was to teach SADDAM a lesson, for standing up to Bush's father

Just EGO - the son doing what the father cannot do.

Will be back Saturday

Sorry, Easy!

I was at ARTICLES section, Buharis 70th birthday. I was having difficulty posting there.

Will get back to you on Saturday.

@Shaka dZulu:

The first part of my last response simply means that just like you I seek the truth and I was willing to accept your explanation on face value. Then you tell me that Mohammed himself was a war Lord who had the unfair advantage of a direct line to Allah.

I would not hold brief for the West. Frankly I don’t think they give a damn. The trouble is that when you start to point fingers about the injustices of other, your other fingers are pointing right back at you. The point here is that there is no Muslim country where there is peace and justice. All I see is inequity, strife and war. Even Northern Nigeria is going the same way. If indeed the context was in a war, why is it being used even today by Muslim sects as justification for their acts of genocide? We have witnessed time and again the bombing of Churches, after which the Boko Haram spokesman has praised Allah for their ‘victory’.

He seems a little scared, I

He seems a little scared, I wouldn't jump to the conclusion that he had dirty money on him. Of course, as I was saying to my friend John Studzinski, the press can easily provoke this feeling, he may just be anxious because of all those questions and pressure. We'll just have to wait and see, won't we?

@Easy:

8:12 does not refer to you. It's a relevation to the Prophet during the battle of Badr.

It can sure unbalance you & can easily be misinterpreted if read not in the context refered. Both the one who feels terrorized & his opposite are in error.

I am a seeker of truth with frailties, weaknesses & failures than most, But as Goethe said, "He alone keeps his life & freedom who daily has to conquer them again"

There are no original 'Islamists'. There are only the Muslims (not Islamists) or the Ummah.

@Easy: The West is Ok. We resist poaching decadence

First part not clear.

The West is GOOD in MANY WAYS except justice & Islam. It's Bush invading Iraq, Pamella Geller fixing posters in New York calling Muslims savages, Breivik killing Xtians in Norway & blaming Islam, & the Jew disturbing Europe that 54% of Palestine is givem to him(now 80.4%), & their apologists. It's stolen lands of N. Amer., NZ, AUSTR when the native is killed

So when Muslims say "Death to Amer", its the decadence & imperialistic poaching they're denouncing, not going on killings

@Shaka dZulu: It Is Good To Talk

I notice that you have chosen not to address the point I made about the war like nature of Islam. I would have been happy to be educated about the possibility that I was wrong with a good explanation of course.

Who is the West? Who are you? And who are the original Islamists? I know that I am an African. I know that I would never ever physically attack anyone over religion. It seems to me that you are the one taking painkillers over someone else’s headache. Did you not have a tradition where you come from before the advent of Islam? Was there not a method of resolving issues and disputes amicably between people? The sooner you wise up to the fact that you have sold out your African ways to Islam, the better.

@Easy: That's what I am saying Easy!!

That's exactly what I am saying Easy. You've so much distorted Xtianity that it's no more recognizable.

And that's what you want to do to Islam & when the Muslims refuse you resort to blackmail & name-calling.

The day we surrender Islam to the West is the day that Islam dies, No way!!!

All the lies, violence & hypocritical STONE THROWINGS are now being exposed.

You expunged, jettison or deny any part of the Bible with ease in the name of MODERNISM. That's why you're now called nominal Xtians

@Shaka dZulu: But Is This Really The Case?

Your reply takes us full circle, back to the beginning when I pointed out the fact that the Quran does reward murder. Remember the following:

“Terrorize and behead those who believe in scriptures other than the Qur’an.” 8:12

What exactly do you think it is inviting the believer to do? Invite the infidel for Christmas party and be friends?

@Easy: No religion reward a murderer

We're going in circles.

Promises of such nature are common to both Islam & Xtianity. The equivalent of the Jihadists are the Xtian martyrs. Martyrs are entitled to special rewards for services to their faiths.

The Quran is harsh on murders & suicides; that hellfire is reserved for transgressions.

You cannot find any link in the Quran where such promises were made to murderers.

No murderer will be rewarded with anything.

Your inability to define Jihad is what's colouring your conclusions.

@Shaka dZulu Shaka Was No Muslim

Christianity is a product of Judaism and I am not holding brief for the religion since I am not a Jew. But we share a common religious heritage. Notice that I said religious heritage. I have also got my African heritage which is rooted in fair play and conversation. Let us get one thing clear; I am not a religious scholar. But if there are some scholars of Christianity that are advocating stoning, then I have to tell you that they are not Christians. They are probably Muslims like yourself who have read a few passages of the bible and have now decided that they know enough even to tell us what our religion should be.

As a result I completely and unequivocally repudiate stoning as a religious sanction. I have never known it to occur, never heard of it and never seen it advocated, except by an Islamist who thinks he knows Christianity. Christians will happily submit to circular law. The religious laws are matters between the individual and his God.

@Easy: Prerogative of Mercy isn't jettisoning the law

The act of compassion by a judge does not alter a crime or its scriptural punishment. If you're talking of changes to the Bible, then that's another thing.

If that's a law, then all violators should be deemed free.

Don't push the case of this woman. Its interpretational controversies persist even among Xtian scholars.

It's better to acknowledge the laws even the'yre if against our circumstances

The point still is: faulty interpretations, brainwashing & hero-worshiping are the cause of extremism.

@Shaka dZulu Motivation For Murder And Terrorism

"Muslims are motivated to terrorism because the Quran tells them that fighting non-believers is a duty of every Muslim and the only way to be certain of going to heaven to enjoy untold sensual pleasures is to die fighting in the cause of Allah.

If they can make it to heaven, one of the rewards all Muslims are promised is 72 virgins. The number of virgins is not specified in Quran, it comes from a quotation of Muhammad recorded in one of the lesser known Hadith. ("Hadith" is an Arabic word meaning traditions. After Muhammad's death, several collections of his deeds and sayings were assembled. These collections are called Hadith and form the second most authoritative document is Islam, right after the Quran."

@Shaka dZulu: Virgins For Murderers

If you think that any Christian is involved in stoning sinners as a religious imperative, then you must be living in another planet. Since you demonstrated a lack of understanding of my intimation that you knew what Jesus Christ thought of stone throwers, please refer to John 8:7. When the Jews tried to trap him into going contrary to their received laws by saving a woman who was going to be stoned, he answered them by saying, let he who is without sin, to be the first to cast a stone. Of cause the woman was spared.

If you believe what the Sura says about reward for the Jihadists with virgins, then we are getting somewhere. Whether they are rewarded with 72, 172 or 1, there is evidence. To reward a murdering he-goat with a virgin is plainly wrong.

@Easy: QUOTE the 72 for me

The Scriptures whether Old or New do influence the behaviours of its adherents. So, if you start saying they're old, I just feel you're disowning them b/c they didn't favour you here.

You still didn't answer my question: quote the Quran and point out where the 72 virgins you often refer to were mentioned.

About sensual paradise. All I know from my growing up as a Muslim was that physical sex as we know it here ceases with death.

It's a spiritual bliss but definitely not this earthly sensualism.

Not the eldest son

The reporter has it wrong

Aminu Sule is not the the eldest son of Governor Sule Lamido of Jigawa state. That honour goes to Jason Sule Lamido who lives in UK. He looks like his father so nobody can argue the fact. Aminu on the other hand looks like his mother Rabi
For those who asked Aminu is 35 years of age

@Sensual Paradise

But what hapened to my explanation of the old laws and the coming of our Lord esus Christ, have you simply chosen to disregard them? I do not want you to shut up, I simply want to have a meaningful conversation without any pretentions.

"In Islam, the concept of 72 virgins (houri) refers to an aspect of Jannah (Paradise). This concept is grounded in Qur'anic text which describe a sensual Paradise where believing men are rewarded by being wed[1] to virgins with "full grown", "swelling" or "pears-shaped" breasts." Thus shall it be. And We shall pair them with companions pure, most beautiful of eye.
—Quran, sura 44

@Easy

Below this news, there's Bauchi & Gumi arguing about interpretation.

If you want any Muslim to shut up, just quote the Quran for him

NOW, my challenge is: can you quote where in the Quran these 72 virgins are mentioned

You disown the Old Testament, but you felt free to go to any source when it's Islam

The Bible too condone stoning & violence on women.

DEUT: 22: 20-21

20. If it's true, the girl wasn't found a virgin
21. Then they shall bring her to her father's doorway & STONE HER TO DEATH

@Supporter of Sahara Repoters

I understand your fears, but this is so wrong, it is incredible. You are hurting the country by trafficking out currency. Please take a moment to think about what you are doing.

@Shaka dZulu It Is Good To Talk Without Dictating II

I see that you have quotes passages of the Old Testaments to support your claim that they are similar. However, I must point out to you that the coming of Christ Our Saviour changed the law. While the 10 commandments stand as the received foundation of Christianity, he encapsulated all the laws into one when he commanded us to love our neighbours as ourselves [Matthew 22:36-40]. He never fought a war. In fact when one one his disciples tried to fight back, he performed one of his last miracles, by healing the wounded soldier.

@Shaka dZulu It Is Good To Talk Without Dictating. I

I do understand that there are historical narratives and dimensions to the Holy Bible. I quite agree with you that virginity in the bible is used as a virtuous state, a state of ‘purity’. It is therefore used as an aspirational position, worthy of veneration and adoration. However, this cannot be said of the reference to virginity in the Quran. Promising the Jihadist who dies in the cause of killing innocent people 72 virgins is contextually different. It arouses the canal instincts of being the first man there, the bragging rights and everything that is wrong about the treatment of women ... like a piece of meat. Even if the Jihadist was to have his prize, what would happen to the erstwhile virgins? They would probably be stoned to death with the likes of you presiding. Needless to say, you already know what Jesus Christ thinks of stone throwers.

@THNK2WICE

“…they were made to believe…”

If Rev. King could flog & burn hands of educated people, then you know something is wrong. So, brainwashing & hero-worshipping can happen irrespective of your status or religion.

If you think those Biblical verses are old & can’t influence present behaviors, then you’ve missed it. A.V. Breivik, a Norwegian Xtian terrorist bombed govt buildings in Oslo killing 8, and then went on a mass shooting at a Labour Party Youth Camp killing 69 teenagers. These could all be Xtians. And his reason: ISLAM IS TAKING OVER EUROPE. How absurd!!

Terrorism doesn’t have to be religious. It can be ethnic (OPC), or resource-induced/’oily’ (MEND). It’s religious in the North b/c Northerners (both Xtians & Muslims) take religion as paramount.

What is needed is a multifaceted approach, not abuses that make the whole Muslims feel under attack.

Declare what?

Look Nigerians, I run my business in Nigeria but live in a foreign land. You want me to declare the foreign currency with me and have those officials at the airport murder me. Give me a break. I go through Lagos airport all the time without declaring for fear of those officials robbing me. My business is genuine and my money is as well but just won't declare it for you know why

Administrative Bail?

Can you imagine he was released on administrative bail. It's because he is somebody's child otherwise, if it were my Child am sure he will be thrown to jail and wait for the judge to come back even if he is on leave of one year talk less of just judges conference that will end on Friday. Any way it's the begging of their end. We will keep on telling our creator to deal with them for us. A School drop out with $50,000, while a masters degree holder is looking for what to eat. "Nigeria we hail thee".

HE WAS EMULATING DAME PATIENCE

Still far less than the amount Diezani Alison Madueke used to purchase a mansion in Vienna and 20 times less than what Dame Patience was caught with at MMIA some years ago.

VERY GOOD Shaka d'Mau-Mau !

"u shall know d Truth & d Truth shall set u Free".BUT wot I expect u & other Muslims who seem 2hav a beta understndin of d Quaran is 2 Tell these Orgy-Hallucinating-Murderers that there r NO 72 virgins anywia!! Or havnt u read reports of some of those caught sayin they we're made 2beliv there are??
d portion of Deutoronomy u Quoted ws OVER 2,400yrs ago in a situation where Territories we're being fought for! Hav u honestly heard of any Xtian terrorist group in dis country?? If there were, wot do u expect they would target? Mosques or churches? How many mosques hav bin Bombd in this country??? We xtians don't go around Mass-Murdering people cos Christ even admonishes Us 2pray 4 our enemies..on d contrary, Even in this century,some like Abdulmutallabs son(underwear Bomber) could openly tell d courts he ws doing Allahs Command 2kill infidels! Kill in U.S..Kill in Nigeria..Killing EVERYWHERE!!
Its Obvious those who need further education r yur muslim BraZas..

It is not an offence to carry 50k$ or more but...

It is not an offence to carry cash of $50k or more but you must declare it at the airport, you will sometime be asked the source and for what purpose you are taking the cash to where ever you are traveling to, all of this was put in place by the united states to forestall funding terrorism and hiding ill gotten money without trace.

Stop quoting d Quran upside down...

Stop quoting d Quran upside down to suppport ur vlew about Islam which is already bereft of objectivity
Remember a verse in d the bible that reads 'the kingdom of God suffereth violence and only the violent taketh by force'.
In the above sentence from d bible, two words stand out, 'violence' and 'force'.
The physical manifestation of violence is limitless. Killing is an act of violence.
The main issue is bad leadership fueled by corruption. This has nothing to do with rellgion or tribe.
So next time focus on the main issue.

Only Niger deltans like Alams

Only Niger deltans like Alams Ibru and Ibori go to jail in 9ja-The Maharajas from the fulani North like Buhari dont go to prison in (their) Nigeria

@Easy @THINK2WICE: We've begun to do it right: BY QUESTIONING

Both the scriptures contain graphic descriptions. They're mostly contextual to an era, but are easily misinterpreted

So the interpretations is it!

There are Xtian terrorists also; & where do you think they get their motivations? The Bible. For eg:

DEUT. 20: 13-14

13. When the LORD your God handed the city over to you, KILL EVERYMAN in that city with your swords
14. But take the WOMEN, XLDREN, the CATTLE & EVERYTHING, all its goods AS YOUR LOOT. You can enjoy your enemies goods your God gave you
