NDLEA Impounds 66kg Of Drugs In Bayelsa

By SaharaReporters, New York

The Bayelsa State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) seized 66.4 kilograms of drugs and arrested 132 suspects between January and June 2013.

The Commander of the NDLEA, Frank Hanachor, who disclosed this while doing a stock-taking of the command as part of activities in Yenagoa to mark the World International Day Against Illicit Drugs, said the suspects comprised 106 males and 26 females.

Breaking down the half-year haul, Hanachor said it comprised heroine, 39 grammes; psychotropic substances, 366.6 grammes; and cannabis sativa 65.989 kilogrammes.

In addition to the arrests, he said the command also carried out public enlightenment and drug education in schools, as well as general counseling on the dangers of drug addiction and trafficking.

Hanachor expressed displeasure over the indisposition of the Ministries of Education and Ministry of Women Affairs in the state to accept the agency’s proposals for synergy on the problems of drug addiction and trafficking.

He stressed that the drug menace is a social problem that requires the collaboration of all stakeholders to tackle.

'Junkurukuru' journalism...journalism by bad belle. Wat of Kano?

This is pure 'Junkurukuru' journalism...journalism by bad belle...if it were not so, then where is the report of the other countries in continent Nigeria?

...Why not report on the half year report of NDLEA in Lagos, Kano, Ibadan, Ogun, Kwara, Sokoto, Kebbi, Katsina etc? These are all border locations & SR even in its myopic state, knows that border locations like most states named above have the highest concentration of drugs. In any case, which is easier to smuggle, drugs of anti tank weapons found undergound in Kano? Where is NDLEA report for Kano? What about the Bokostani border towns that were controlled for years by boko haram? U mean no drugs passed through? Haba SR, una think say pple no dey think? But u must report 'evil' from the oil producing states. Nonsense.
My oil & gas is regional, not national, certainly not continental. Long live the oil rich United SS&SE Republic.
