Nigeria’s Richest Pastor Oyedepo Puts Private Jets Up For Sale- Forbes Blog

High-flying Bishop Oyedepo
By Mfonobong Nsehe

Nigeria’s wealthiest pastor, Bishop David Oyedepo, has reportedly put two of his four private planes up for sale.

According to a report in the Nigerian media, the venerable clergyman has become overwhelmed with the colossal costs of managing four planes, and is said to have taken the decision to sell two of them. It is not yet known which planes he’s looking to sell.

Earlier this year the bishop announced his latest acquisition- a $35 million Gulfstream V Jet. He also announced plans for a private aircraft hangar. Before he acquired the Gulfstream V, the man of God owned a Challenger 604 and a Gulfstream IV.

Oyedepo has accumulated a vast fortune through his extensive real estate holdings, a publishing empire, and interests in universities and high schools. In June, I estimated his fortune was roughly $150 million.

I called Oyedepo’s church earlier this morning to confirm the story. The phone rang, but no one answered.

Please this is the inernet, i

Please this is the inernet, i am not here to defend oyedepo, but everyone should go back to the bible and read what happened to the man and his followers that opposed moses. dont be caught in this web of critisizing pastors or leaders wether or not you think they are fakes. let God judge all of us, those calling him names, please dont do that again and find a way to confess that. i dont know oyedepo from anywhere, but all i know is that there's a curse on someone critisizing leadership wether religious or circular.

everyone beware

Shame on Oyedepo

Its high time he wakes up to support humanity before he departs this World. I wonder if only he is going to leave this world with a metal coin. Its all vanity and what matters most is securing a face in Heaven. The best way to achieve this is to help less previlage and provide care homes for the elderly in his church. He should learn from the story of Jesus Christ and live life as if he is going to die the next minute. Over 78% of Nigerians living in Nigeria has big issues with their faith. May God guide and protect all the sane people in Nigeria.

Lies and half truth

This writer Mfonobong Nsehe has proven severally to be liar all round. He once wrote about Nigerian pastors and their estimated wealth by sitting down around his computer typing whatever figure came to his mind.
If he is knows his information well, he would have known that:
i)winners chapel of Bishop Oyedepo already have a private hanger since last year. A common knowledge to anybody around the airport
ii)the church only has TWO jets and not FOUR.The first one bought in 1996 was later traded in for another one some years after, while the second jet was bought last year.

Please young man write on things that will add value to your readers and not trash.ji

who is this Anaruagu?

No matter what, no man is allowed to speak evil of another in this way. What you don't know should not destroy you. If it is 419(scammers) that is using a jet, you will hail him. Please be careful in matters like this especially as it relates to "Men of God" Hebrews 4:13. Have you ever had that he manipulated his followers or he forced them to contribute to buy the jet? Can "evil man" as you said so revolutionalise the educational sector of a nation. Many of our schools which include the one anaruagu attended(if all he did) were in comatose b4 Covenant University came to being. I am not a member of his church but I know he is contributing his own qouta.

God is not a Poor Man

Bros, you have your choice. Are men of God supposed to be paupers begging for alms before they eat? If he had simply been known as a business man, would you castigate him or call him fraud? What do we say or do about people who enslave us through several business empires with active of support of Government and who ensure that prices of commodities remain high and NEPA never works in Nigeria just because they import generators or own import licence for fuel? Let us appreciate God for what He has done in his life and others like him. Men of God should be the richest in the world becuase God is not a poor man.

haha... how foolish - there

haha... how foolish - there is no suggestion he took money from his congregation. really? he owns the congregation. he owns the church. he has made all of his money and investments from proceeds from the church. there is no separation of his own money from that of the church. it is one and the same. don't delude yourselves, churches in Nigeria are businesses and the earlier the government begins to tax their income, the better off for the economy.

Not so

When I was in School a couple years ago, I began to attend Oyedepo's church. A couple months later I smiled to my stockbroker and bought shares worth a hundred thousand naira - as an undergraduate.

Oyedepo is a tried and trusted man of God, in Living Faith Church, like many other charismatic cum pentecostal churches in Nigeria, they preach the gospel of emancipation, freedom, righteousness and breakthrough that Christ brought. It may be difficult for the stereotyped mind to understand, but Christianity is not a religion for the indigent or those who wallow in squalor alone, in Christianity, you manifest at the level of your faith.

So before you nail the man of God you should understand the biblical principles of faith, obedience, sacrifice and righteousness.

HE WANTS TO PLAY SAFE

He want to play safe now by discarding some of the jets. Since some of these pastors has turned churches to money making centres, I believe the church goers should be asking for their dividends.
These pastors are stupidly too rich in the disquise of man of God.

JUDGEMENT

FRIENDS, IT IS EASY TO JUDGE. DONT OCCUPY GOD'S CHAIR. LET GOD JUDGE.

Pastor's wealth

The Pastor preaches God,s Kingdom and he lives by example of what he knows about the unmeasurable wealth of God. After all the kingdom of God is the richest of all riches. Followers therefore should realize that it is thier contributions that this Pastor is living on, rather that assisting those in need.

Dont be surprised some brain

Dont be surprised some brain damaged idiots will come here to defend him or better still misquote the Bible. Fraudsters in the houses of God. The last time I was in Nigeria, I chose not to attend any church, and I dont think I will again. If I should, I will either go to Catholics, Anglican, African or better still attend the traditional Osun or Shango festival to worship.

stop spreading rumours

Sahara reporters! Please endeavour to confirm your stories before broadcasting them. Rumours are just as fake as the people that start them. Gosh!

Hmmmmmmmmh!

Na wa o! God please judge all of us o.

Touch not My annoited

I am not a member of his flock but from what i can read from this article nothing mention that he took money from his congregation. "Oyedepo has accumulated a vast fortune through his extensive real estate holdings". there is nothing wrong with a Pastor running his own business besides being the head of a church.

THIS IS OBSCENE

Obscene

Please call this foolish EvilDavid Oyedepo, man of the Devil.
Shame on our people. Amidst the worst type of poverty among church members and society in general, these pastor deep down in their hearts believe that it is okay to steal from the poor folks in the name of religion.

This is Obscenity ate its crudest form.

I hope the church members

I hope the church members will open their eyes and question whether this is what being a pastor is all about
