By SaharaReporters, New York

The Federal High Court in Abuja yesterday adjourned until April 10 the trial of seven terror suspects.

Usman  Sani, Abdulrahman Musa, Mahmud Mohammed, Kabir Mohammed, Umar Danjuma, Ibrahim Musa Abba  and Abdullahi Lawan are facing a 13-count charge of various offences under the Terrorism Prevention Act of 2011.

According to a press statement by police spokesman Frank E. Mba, the suspects were responsible for the bombing and robbery of the Alkalari, Bauchi State branch of Union Bank of Nigeria July 8, 2011, during which they stole nearly N18 million.

They are also accused of attacking and bombing the Alkaleri Divisional Police Headquarters, as well as attacking and robbing two banks: Intercontinental Bank and Guarantee Trust Bank in Azare, stealing a total of N36,446,750.

The police further allege that the suspects killed four persons, including three police officers, and were in possession of assorted types of dangerous arms and IED materials.

At their arraignment, the court could not take the plea of the suspects, as none of them had a lawyer.   The court therefore adjourned proceedings in order to enable them secure legal representation.   They will remain in prison custody until then.

Meanwhile, the seven suspects have been remanded in prison custody to enable them secure the services of legal practitioners of their choice, in exercise of their fundamental human rights.

“The Force hereby reassures the public that everything within its ability will be done, to ensure that the suspects are diligently and conclusively prosecuted; as this will serve as a deterrent to all criminally minded persons in the country,” the police said, appealing to well-meaning Nigerians to assist security agencies by volunteering useful information about the activities of criminal groups or individuals.

Corrupt judges

When ever I read about crime in Nigeria, it is about arrest and bail of these hardened criminals, they are always granted bail, there is never a report on trial and conviction, there is a death penalty in Nigeria for armed robbery, but yet, within the last five years, only one person has been put to death by the Nigerian court system, where are these arrested kidnappers. Are they ever punished? And how come that nobody ever reports on the trial and conviction of a kidnapper? Ofcourse they know that they can always bribe the judges, the Nigerian justice system is putting every ones life in danger by letting armed robbers and kidnappers back on the streets.

Sahara Reporters is the best

Sahara Reporters is the best site :)

De Muslims are sick set of ppl.

De Muslims thinks dey can win but dey should thank our God who taught us how to Love our neighbours if not we would have taught d muslims dat we are not afraid of dem.wat kind of religion tells ppl to kill 4 glory dat is barbaric n not religion.

THEY ARE HAPPY BECAUSE OF 72 VIRGINS

They do not have any remorse because Mohammed has rewarded each of the animals with 72 virgins. Faroulk,a northern Nigeria muslim who is a body guard to Mohammed in the US pententiary can confirm this. Besides, their judge will soon release them because they are northerners and muslims.

NO EVIDENCE

The judge will soon rule that there is no evidence to prove they comitted the offence. After all they are muslims and carrying out the work of their arab god, Mohammed. You will see the outcome.

SEE THEM NOT BEING TROUBLED

WHY IS IT THAT THESE GUYS DON'T SEEM TO BE TROUBLED AT ALL SEE THEM WELL RELAXED ABI THEM DEY COME ACT HOME VIDEO FOR US TO SEE I GUESS THEIR SO CALLED HOLY PROPHET MOHAMMED ENCOURAGES ISLAM TO CARRY GUNS AND BOMBS TO KILL AND DESTROY EVERY WHERE,MUSLIM ALWAYS THINKING THEY CAN FIGHT NONSENSE PROPHET CALLED MOHAMMED.

Whos fooling who

`why bring them to court without a lawyer?
Maybe in a few years time they will be given these so called rights if anyone remembers.

Rule of law

This is rule of law in action. I hope the murderers of those 100 corpses found floating in Ezu river are reading this! Unless the nation rises and one voice demand to know how those corpses were found on that river, we are done for and will never lay any claim to civilisation! It is a big shame on our nation!

May God Almighty curse the person that wrote degaratory

The person who ever wrote degaratory remark against our holy prophet shall never be in peace with his family forever, and slowly God wrath shall be unto him

THEY EXPECT TO GO HOME SOON.

The body language of these suspects tells me they don't expect to be in custody for long. And I believe they are right. There lies the absurdity of our legal sytem that can be easily manipulated. So sad.

A good step in the right

A good step in the right direction; find them guilty and execute them.

we will soon be told they escaped from police custody-again

See d Malians and Chadians comfortably seated in court are all smiling-happy at the number of 9jas they used their leprosy infested fingers to kill in d fulani north. Aware they will be freed or given very light sentences--Unlike Ebi the Ijaw man who was sentenced to life-for not reporting an incident he knew nothing about to his state governor-to governors whose garment can only be touched-when out to beg for our votes-Not after they have been sworn-in by d same alawada judges-to report a case to security agents who often turn complainants to accused persons! Haba? And because of that an Alkali judge would destroy the life of a youth? Cause he has no Maharaja, sultan or emir of Gwandu-who can lobby Buhari to assist him effect d release-of dis dogs from Mali? Again dis baby pancake trail would end with the court asking them to be jailed for 3 hrs again! Or be told they all escaped from police custody-@ d next hearing!
