OCCUPY Lagos: Nigerian Activists Protest Over LASU School Fees &Planned Removal Of Fuel Subsidy
Civil society activists and labour unions are currently protesting the harsh economic conditions in Nigeria. The actiivists told Saharareporters in Lagos today that they have began a series of protests that would lead to a massive showdown with the Nigerian government in the new year.
Today's protest is being led by the family of late fiery Nigerian attorney Gani Fawehinmi. His son Mohammed and first wife, Ganiyat are leading activists in a protest that started in Ikeja Lagos.
Human rights attorney and the President of the West African Bar Association (WBA) Femi Falana has deliverd an address. The ongoing protest will address the introduction of exhorbitant school fees at the Lagos State university and the widely unopular plan by the President Goodluck Jonathan to remove fuel subsidy.
schools
I think that Nigeria needs people with a social justice degree which could help with new reforms to improve the system. Nigeria needs a lot of help at the moment because the current regime is corrupted.
Elelbi must go
Fellow nigerians, we hav just been negligent of dis man right from the on set. His name is "elebi"(hugry man)and that's why he allocated 300million to just his feeding....I mean, that's uncalled for and that probably explains why his wife that has been eating so much cannot make a correct sentence. My take is "Badluck ELebi" mus gooo!!!!
Go!!!!!!!
BadLuck ELebi Jolantern...you r a loser and must go.
fuel subsidy
the problem with Nigerians is inpatiant.our visionary leader has dream big for the contary, what we have to do is to embrase the idea and work as, a team to achieve this dream. the problem with us, we are not capital intensive that is to say every individualthat has the capital to invest in the oil business is free to do so,is not now left to the hands of few pin criminals. this my comment
fuel subsidy removal
The removal of fuel subsidy is far too good for the economy but on one condition, that is, if the three tiers of government are show example of cutting dowm the cost of running government. This is the bargaining TUC/NLC should be putting on the table before the FG.In addition,we should adopt true federalism.
GEJ must go
Buhari cried foreseeing this! As for me I have no complain
I did not vote for GEJ knowing him to be empty. Next time
the opportunity comes be guided by sentiments instead of reason.
Pastors and traditional rulers have collected their money now
Let the congregation pay for their SIN GEJ
Fuel Subsidy Removal
My advice to the govt is to follow this policy with reduction of wastages in govt functionnaries' recurrent expenditure and also fight corruption to a standstll. Nigerians have lost confidence in the govt, therefore, govt must restore that confidence back as soon as possible. God bless Nigeria.
Arise Nigerians
For the 1st time all nigerians are speaking with 1 voice. Let's fight this issue of fuel subsidy removal and the prevailing corruption that have eaten nigeria deep. Enough is enough. Keep all sentiments aside and fight this great war. Nigeria must be left alone.

Welfare State
Welfare followers led by welfare leaders! Go and occupy the NASS and stop corruption.
Oil subsidy by azz; the oil na ur own? The poor people of South South wey get the oil dey suffer, Lagos resident wey dey drive BMW dey cry for oil subsidy.
2012 Budget Is Full Of Fraud&Waste When You Take A Deep Look
So much waste in 2012 budget, gej wants to waste money on lot of things we can do without yet he wants to remove fuel subsidy instead of fighting corruption in the fuel subsidy and in the NNPC, he plan to spend ridiculous amount of money on fleet of cars while many world leaders are cutting down on cost of governance plus another N11.2 Billion on travels in 2012.
New Year
Happy New year n many mre years of peace n unity to our father land Nigeria........
jonathan declare state of emergency
Fashola and Lagosians
Mr Governor what is happening, why are you betraying yourself? Don't turn yourself to public enemy number one, IBB would advise you on that better.
The same goes for Mr President Goodluck.
belated
The protest by this activist is well belated
This is coming while majority has lost admission
In lasu and the populace has lost confidence
In which the govt has started the execution
Of said removal.
Protest
The subjects of the protest are not related in any way. LASU fees increase is a state affair, while FUEL SUBSIDY removal is a national affairs. This approach will yield little result and would not attract much supports from people. The protest could be broken down into two and staged in two different dates. Moreover, the finance minister from World bank started d fuel subsidy thing, so the protest should be aimed at removing the finance minister. This will force govt to back down on d fuel subsidy issues
FEMI FALANA; GANIYAT & MOHAMMED FAWEHINMI: LEKKI TOLL FRAUD!!
Femi Falana; Ganiyat & Mohammed Fawehinmi, et al, what about the Lekki Toll Gate Fraud? We are not against tolling but vociferously against treacherous exploitation and insensitivity. There must be no double standards!!
occupy Nigeria
Let us now move to other states by occupying Nigeria.Enough is enough, let us take our protest to every city and the Fct.we are saying,no to corruption, insecurity, bad governance, poor educational infrastructure, power outage, unemployment and other negatives that bedeviled our nation.
This is the beginning of the
This is the beginning of the end for this administration.
He have ears let him hear
Subsidy removal
Fact is that we are not as foolishly
Foolish as they think. Jonathan did not
Mention this during his campaign. Is he a
Wolve in Sheep's clothing? He has failed
Nigeria beyond redemption by this barberic
Act of his.
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD NAIJA
More grease to your elbow Lagosians !
Say NO to Lekki Toll gate!
No mention of the illegal 'road block' Lekki Toll-gate?
Please why are lagosians not living around Lekki axis turning blind eyes on the Toll gate issue? Lekki Toll gate must be resisted in all ramification!
If you guys should revolt of the fuel subsidy removal then you as well should revolt on the Lekki Toll-gate, otherwise if the lekki Toll-gate is allowed to stay then fuel sunsidy should allowed to be removed. Both are the same thing!
I support this protest most especially the LASU school fees increament!
Fashola/Tinubu are a disgrace! Shame on them!
