Okonjo-Iweala Fails To Win World Bank Presidency

Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala
By SaharaReporters, New York

As expected, American nominee Jim Yong Kim has been named the next President of the World Bank according to sources within the bank. Mr. Kim was nominated by United States President Barak Obama last month to replace Robert Zoellick, who has held the position since 2007.

Earlier in the day, Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala surprisingly admitted she did not really expect to be named to the coveted position.  She told journalists, “You know this thing is not really being decided on merit…It is voting with political weight and shares, and therefore the United States will get it."

Her defeatist remarks belied the tremendous energy she had put into returning to the bank as overall boss, but she tried to put a happy spin on it.  “We have won a big victory,” she said. “Who gets to run the World Bank – we have shown we can contest this thing and Africa can produce people capable of running the entire architecture."

With the distraction of the World Bank presidency contest now out of the way, Mrs. Okonjo-Iweala returns to Abuja as Nigeria’s Minister of Finance and Coordinating Minister for the Economy, a position where, many Nigerians feel, she needs to earn her credibility by snatching the economy from the ruling People’s Democratic Party, which is known to have ruined the entire architecture.

okonjo

Until the nation Nigeria wake up to the reality that the giant of Africa is currently in utter darkness and the likes of Okonjo Iwuala do something about it, the nation will keep reeling under some pains. The bible makes us to understand that in the beginning was the word and the word was with God and the word was God, in him was life and the life was the light of men. Light is synonymous to life, a nation without light has no life, no wonder the first thing God created in the beginning was light. Okonjo should wake up with a sustainable electricity agenda to prove she deserves her current portfolio.

It is even better that she

It is even better that she didn't get the job at the WB. Let her stay here and make a name and history by revamping the Nigerian economy, or let her ruin herself by joining the lootocrats and be branded a failure like the others. Only time will tell which side she'll fall on. Last time, she was moved from finance to foreign affairs, hope she will be allowed to stay in finance throughout the life of the administration, that way we can access her and know if truly she deserves all the noise about her CV.

You are talking trash

@Deri: Sorry PDP couldn't rig this one. Let NOI sit and work now

Sorry Deri, she lost this one. PDP can't rig this. It is time she now sits down and face the job she was hired to do. The WB post was for a fixed period so she knew it was going to be vacant this year.... why accept the Nigerian ministerial post and then want to leave after 2 years of policy summer-salt?
How would Nigeria gain in Ngozi's WB Presidency? Has Nigeria gained anything since Oby Ezekwesili became WB MD African Region since 2007? They tell Nigerians to be patriotic and yet she wants to jump ship at the slightest opportunity. She advised dumbo Jo to remove oil subsidies and then midway she wants to jump ship ! What happens to the policies she has started ? Somebody else come along and start a different thing all over and the masses are worse off for it. Before she was hired, we were told Nigeria's economy will collapse without her input so why leave now ?
Sorry they don't sell Jack Daniels at ADB ! Moron Jonathan backed the invasion of Libya !

Na wawo for una

Ppl do u knw y john kennedy was killed?do u knw y al-Ghadafi was killed? Its all bcos of world bank, d bank serves as a means of modern slavery, then 4 mrs ngozi to be nominated she must be a 'house negro' and by d way mr Kim is a beta person

Tundemess and Buhari wants to rule TUAREGS IN MALI

@Fasakin Ahmed and Tundemess are both suffering from an uncurable african sickness-called colonial mentality. What is the experience of Kim apart from his work with WHO on HIV/AIDs. He was hired to implement policies already drawn by the global body concerning the spread of HIV in latin american countries. What other experience does he have-Ngozi has worked with internationa financial institutions for years-she has the political experience as well. Ask yourself why Gaddafi was killed by Nato. Go to Ghana and see things for yourself. Over 60 yrs after their freedom are they not still implementing the plans and policies of their late president Dr. kwame Nkrumah? In your bloody boko haram infested brain and country-are we not like robots, confined to talking about buhari and IBB? Tell us what they have in their skulls that 9jas will remember them for-june 12 and the execution of drug pushers or the queue culture for them cows in Chad?

'Nigeria's Rogue Governors Vs Okonjo -Iwuala

Nigeria's corruption perfidy scared developed nations from adopting her;Continuing high profile fraud and unrepentant stealing by our leaders poisoned her chances.
Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iwuala: astute, accomplished and competent is future leader to steer Nigeria nay Africa out of economic bondage, under-development and stringent moral abyss. Outcome of jaundiced World Bank current leadership change will definitely impact positively on this Amazon no matter the result. Friends of Nigeria and Africans will continue to celebrate her as one of our mercurial best.

@Tundemess senior Agbero of boko haram and buhari

TUNDEMESS-read the rubbish u wrote (There already an African bank, it is called African Development Bank head-quartered in Tunisia; i know u wont know it; they don't sell Jack Daniels there !) now my response (al-Qaddafi told the African leaders present that instead of Africa going to the IMF to borrow with interest, Africa should have its own interest free monetary fund. It was agreed that the (African monetary fund) will have its headquarters in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Additional plans were made to set up an (African central bank) in Nigeria for a single African currency) See how stupid you look with d african development bank rubbish u posted-yet u call yourslef an educated buhari servant-with yr likes behind buhari-there is no hope for 9ja! Again Oil was discovered in Libya in 1957. The same time with Nigeria-go and see what their buhari did with their oil revenue-while your buhari was busy executing ppl in 9ja-animal

She lost galantly.

Okonjo-Iweala has lost galantly as a Nigerian an as an African. It does'nt matter what people say about Nigeria. We are all to blame for the socio-political,religious and economic problem that's messing our country.
The position of the president of the world bank cannot be let go by those countries,I mean America and Europe that enslaved the entire world.
For her courage as a woman,I salute her,for her boldness,I doff my hat for her and for her to lose the position,I respect her.
God bless Nigeria and African as a whole.

Who dash Monkey banana!

Whoever thinks of Okonjo iweala as a world bank President must be living in a fool's paradise. What has okonjo done right as a finance minister? A prophet of subsidy removal who helped world bank to rip off billions frm Nigeria as debt forgivenes. Yet she is on d vanguard of anoda borrowing. Stupid lots!

Hon. Minister, Please fix the Energy Issue in Nigeria

As the coordinating Minister for the National Economy, I implore Dr(Mrs) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala to join others to fix the intractable problem of power (electricity) supply and the unpredictable fuel(petrol-kerosine-diesel, etc) crisis here in Nigeria. I guess this will give you more eternal satisfaction than going for the ojoro-laden world bank job. If you succeed in this area, you would have imprinted your name on the annals of history in Africa. Never leave that post until you fix these problems, else history will not forgive you and those associated with this government. It is a challenge for the big hearts and it is not meant to be easy. This is the heart of the economy.

Ngozi's arrogance

Here Ngozi, “You know this thing is not really being decided on merit…It is voting with political weight and shares, and therefore the United States will get it".

Ngozi has told us that Kim a Development Scholar who has been a part of several development projects was not "selected on merit". This is disrespectful and condescending to Dr Kim. She has probably been engulfed by the talk of her "being the best". One would expect her to respect the decision of the shareholders. This statement sounds like one made by Jona dunce. One wonders if She has been stealing Jona's ogogoro to drink.

POINT OF CORRECTION...

among other things, kim won becos
1. his performance record is evident
2. all his programs hav human face. he regarded d poor and d defenceless
3. he is an achiever per excellence
4. more dan merit, he is described as a genius in his field
5. he knows wht it meant to be poor
so, what merit is NOI crying for? she shld stop uttering a bad loser's statement and do sth good for d masses in Nigeria. what has she acheived? she came wt NEEDS, SURE, etc. what can be said of dis painful policies? does she think Obama and d world are not watching?

World Bank and Africa

No any African countries and other third world would be allowed to rule World Bank but only to arm twist them with unjustifiable loans. If African countries are to have a true leaders who actually have the interested of their country they should forget about their membership with World Bank and IMF, because these banks are for Europe and America.

World Bank President is not only place Nigeria will fail.

Nigerians take it from me or leave it and continue suffering. Christ of 21st Century is a Nigerian. Free Jesus Christ with Last Salvation and free Nigeria, Africa and all Aborigin of the Universe.
Jesus Christ is under bondage of the Fathers who use him as Lamb and Escape Goat of Sacrifice and ritual for Christians and Jews. He is also in bondage of the Fathers of Islam who use him as Ramadan Ram. Last Salvation is sacrifice Mother Grace made with Trinity. The mission of Naomi that took the lives of her husband as the father, the two sons as Word and Holy Ghost for us to have One God, One Love and One World of Mother Grace.

@tundemess the buhari agbero read this about yr ADB cow!

During the meeting, Muammar al-Qaddafi told the African leaders present that instead of Africa going to the IMF to borrow with interest, Africa should have its own interest free monetary fund. This plan was accepted by all and sundry! It was agreed that the African monetary fund will have its headquarters in Yaoundé, Cameroon. Additional plans were made to set up an African central bank in Nigeria for a single African currency. To kick start the projects in question, Qaddafi took billions out of his country's purse. Please, bear the following in mind. The western powers aren’t prepared to loosen their firm grip on the African continent. T

the beginning of her nightmare

When two beloved innocent sons of my community were killed by GEJ & Ngozi during the fuel subsidy protest & over 60 innocent ones arrested and sent to jail without trial for about 2months, we had sat and prayed vividly for God's vengeance: that our tormentors ve used their positions & wealth to torment us, Lord! So shall they ever remain discontented, dissatisfied with whatever position they shall occupy now & then until they are destroyed in their search for more. Ngozi, it's just the beginning!

@tundemess lecture series by deri part 3

Gaddafi’s courage and pioneering efforts in trying to restore national sovereignty and making the government responsible to the people instead of to the Global Banking Elites is the reason why he was targeted and killed.NATO terrorist attacks will not get the Western nations out of debt – only an honest Public Central Bank – like the attempted Bank of Libya – would. But guess what? With Gaddafi now out-of-the-way, the IMF and The World Bank have moved in to Libya, and have reestablished their control and dominance there. And (black man) Obama was the ringleader in the effort to reassert the impoverishment of Africa.

@MUMU TUNDEMESS--

@Tundemess! (the usa-European elite's military alliance, NATO, attacked Libya resulting in hundreds of thousands of still unreported deaths and millions of its population of only six million displaced. All this under the guise of "humanitarian intervention" smoothed over by a lying media empire attempting to preserve the west's unjustified position as dictatorial bully, usurper, exploiter and kleptomaniac extraordinaire, in Africa. This is obviously apparent in the use of AFRICOM to militarize the entire continent of Africa and to forcefully counter China's good relations in trade with the continent. China has been trading for over a decade with Africa without imposing "homosexual laws" and other things which the west imposes in its dealings with Africa, but, the west has been using force, and is now actively doing so via AFRICOM under the pretence of "responsibility to protect" by pretending to chase Kony while actually ensuring the entire region becomes unstable and chaotic via BH

tundemess why she lost-stop disgracing yourself-we no aboutADB

Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, collectively known as the BRICS nations, are moving forward with their plan to unseat the US dollar from its throne as the global trade currency and to replace it with a Chinese-denominated “super-sovereign” international currency. This Geo-political game to establish global monetary dominance is by no means limited to the freeing of the world from a forced dependence on the US dollar. Instead this is merely the first defensive action of a concerted campaign of worldwide economic defence which may erupt into open warfare if the west once again seeks to forcefully continue its attempt to suppress the world economies and continue maintain and impose its own failed system upon the world.
This campaign seeks to bring the United States and its western allies to face reality that western banker-monopoly capitalism is dead and other nations will not continue to pay the price of trying to preserve it.
