Current president of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor has bought a private jet, joining a growing number of high-flying Nigerian pastors who own private jets. Mr. Oritsejafor is the chief pastor and founder of the Word of Life Bible Church in Warri, Delta State.

Mr. Oritsejafor was presented with the "gift" of the jet via a projector at a lavish  party that marked the 40th anniversary of his work as a pastor in Warri. President Goodluck Jonathan was in attendance at the event where Mr. Oritsejafor received the jet. One source described the pastor as “ferociously close to President Jonathan.”

Mr. Oritsejafor’s jet is a Canadian-made Bombardier jet with US registration number N431CB. The jet was manufactured in 1994 and previously belonged to two different owners in the US, our records revealed. The private jet was last used in New Jersey by C R BARD IN of Murray Hill, New Jersey

SaharaReporters learnt that the jet was flown out of the US from Morristown, New Jersey in September 2012 ostensibly to be retrofitted and serviced before delivery last week to Mr. Oritsejafor.

Records accessed by us on the Internet indicated that the jet’s owners in New Jersey listed it for sale in July 2012. The data also showed that the jet had once been upgraded to give it more engine power. The jet’s interior is furnished with gold accents in the toilet and bathroom area.

Asked to comment on Mr. Oritsejafor’s acquisition of a jet, a New York-based Nigerian pastor decried the rush by several Nigerian pastors to acquire extremely expensive objects. “It’s unfortunate that Christ’s message of love and compassion for the poor is often turned on its head as some of our well-known Nigerian pastors compete for private jets and other riches of this world,” said the pastor.

The pastor also deplored the undue emphasis on prosperity preaching, adding that the pastors are “too frequently prospered while their congregants continue to suffer in poverty.”

As CAN president, Pastor Oritsejafor is at the forefront of Christian responses to the spate of religious violence in certain Northern Nigerian cities. The violence has led to the destruction of churches and the death of scores of worshipers.

You will do the Same

What is the big deal owning a TOKUNBO jet? If he can afford it, then let him be. If you are in his position you will do the same thing. Pls stop complaining. Don't judge a man until you find yourself in the same situation as him.

PASTORS IN THE AIR

Pastor Oritsejefor ,Please fly on.The harvest is plenty. Me think you even need a supersonic jet.YOUR GOD IS NOT A POOR GOD.AND I HEAR OUR PARTY IS ALSO YOUR PARTY,AND OUR PRESIDENT YOUR FRIEND.BLESSED BE YOUR SOUL ON EARTH.....

years of service dont matter

what do you mean by forty years of service? Are you doing the Lord's work to be paid? that is a very wrong doctrine. What are these pastors really preaching?

The Kingdom of God

Nothing is too good or too much for an elder who
Rules well in Gods Kingdom. If a man has invested 40 years
Of his life changing lives and touching nations
He deserves more than a Jet.There is a level of responsibility
You have that owning a private Jet is not a luxury. Why do u own your private car,why do u desire ur own house, etc there are stages in lifeDoes he need it?YES.Congratulations! Pastor Ayo

Re; oritsejafor acquires private jet

Private jet wit whose money? Are there converts or followers in the sky? That‘s how common people are rubbed.

PDP is paying back d services

PDP is paying back d services pastor rendered to them. If not y do they hide the name of the donor. Its clear that our pastors dnt feel d pain of their followers but to compete wit criminal buzmen like dangote n otedola.

Did u just say nothing wrong

Did u just say nothing wrong in pastors buying a private jet? May God forgive u cos u av d intention of having a private jet thru all means too. I also learnt his wife moves around in a limousine... some pastors even move around with entourage and security aids... Who pastor dey fear? Assassin?.. Moreover, do you know how much it cost to maintain a private jet every month? Like seriously it is only in Nigeria all this rubbish is happening... Pastors no dey other countries? Get a life and stop believing in milking pple to survive... Big Moron...

Hmm, We have the mentality

Hmm, We have the mentality that a church member could acquire a jet but we dont mind if the pastor is trekking from abuja to lagos. We need to balance it, having jet is not acquiring the riches of the world but putting all your life on the jet and abandoning the gospel of Jesus Christ.

Although in the minority, I

Although in the minority, I still shudder at the number of people that see nothing wrong with a pastor owning a private jet admist poverty!

Benefit Christians by speaking in different regions within a day?! - ever heard of video conferencing! That will enable you speak at different regions AT THE SAME TIME! Morons! There is NO justification - morally or otherwise for such a purchase. When we know for a fact that the poor DO NOT have to always be among us with the right policies and attitudes in place! Why can't pastors preach that?! Why can't they preach communual wealth through co-orporation and trust?

Are you freaking kidding me?!

COMPETITION FOR JET RATHER THAN SOUL WINNING

PEOPLE NOW WORSHIPPING THE gOD OF MAMMON (MONEY) AND REJECTING THE ALMIGHTY GOD. LET THEM CONTINUE TO DECEIVE THE PEOPLE AS THEY CANNOT DECEIVE GOD. THE LORD KNOWS THOSE WHO ARE HIS AND LET THOSE WHO NAME THE NAME OF THE LORD DEPART FROM EVIL. IF THE MONEY USED IN BUYING THE JET WAS STOLEN, OR BRIBE MONEY OR FROMM RITUALS, ARMED ROBBERY, DECEPTIVE TALKINGS IT IS EVIL AND THOSE CONEECTED WITH IT OPENLY OR REMOTELY WILL FACE THE JUDGMENT OF GOD. SEEK YE FIRST THE KINGDOM OF GOD AND ITS RIGHTEOUSNESS AND BASIC THINGS OF IFE WILL BE ADDED TO US. WE CAME INTO THIS WORLD WITH NOTHING AND WILL GET OUT OF IT ONE DAY WITH NOTHING. HEAR THE CONCLUSION: OBEY GOD AND KEEP HIS COMMANDMENTS.

ORITS PRIVATE JET

Everybody shall indeed wear his cross. Busy milking the poor followers.

Why do the likes of Dangote and Adenuga own Jets? Seriously?

God you epitomise ignorance!

jet age

What is wrong with a pastor owning a small plane for God's work in this jet age? Please, let’s get out of this poverty mentality mould. Rich people don't see anything wrong with it, only poor people do. Lol!

Somebody is asking how owning a jet will benefit the preaching of God's word.

Firstly, our Pastor Ayo can now preach in four states or two countries in one day and still return back to Warri to sleep.

Secondly, I am believing God for my own Jet too.

I hope that with these few points of mine, I have been able to convince you and not to confuse you that it is good for pastors to own private Jets.

loving the things of the world

The so called men of God has failed to heed the fine counsel recorded at 1john 2 vs 15-17:"do not be loving either the world or the things in the world.if anyone loves the world the love of the father is not in him;becos everything in the world the desire of the flesh and the desire of the eyes and the showy display of ones neans of life does not originate with the father, but originate with the world.furthermore the world is passing away and so is its desire, but he that does the will of God remains for ever

well daz gud wen his trying 2 cos conflict ba

wat did pastor do 2 honour him wid jet? after all dis tht his trying 2 join crisis wid d member of churches in nigeria n oders. dis is a Bribed by the Nigerian Gov't 2 Divided de attention of gud pple of nigeria, so that they will do wat dey want.

Onye Ara. Idiot.

Onye Ara. Idiot.

@Dawn and all other fools

Buying a jet that costs 1.6m to fuel and maintain per trip makes no sense. How many scholarships can be gotten for his poor congregation? How many flights will he take? Who will maintain and service it. He has to service the jet abroad who pays? It is the money meant to increase the ministry, help the poor, speak against injustice and build churches. You fools compare a Man of God to a Rich man whom Christ says will find it almost impossible to make heaven. What is wrong with you selfish idiotic so called xtians like Dawn and Samyoung? One day Christ will come (Matthew 24: 5-42) shame on you. You can never follow Christ with that attitude. The 12 basket wey remain did Christ sell it n buy a ship/ boat so as to see the flock all around galilee. Fake money driven heathen posing as xtians. Abomination, occultic fools!!!!

Read His Story

I would have advised anyone feeling bad about the private jet to first go through his story; how he began; the rough &and tough path he had to take before, he arrived. Consider that many would have started off like him but couldn't reach the mark. I salute his courage; very inspiring. As for the poor "they shall always be among you" as Christ said.We may not really know his impact on the poor especially if he does "without letting the left hand know" About the jet, Nigeria is a country where anything goes. Even our president was there to give him support. So we ask is it illegal for him to have a private jet. If the answer is no then we can't condemn the man of God. If we really feel bad; all we can do is to pray for the nation.

Bad belle

Howmany of una wey dey open im diirty mouth dey talk don ever reject birthday gift(dat is if dem remember una sef)if dem giv am jet as gift make im refuse abi becos na im say make poverty dey Nigeria. Una no serious. If na una papa b d pastor wey im congregation love sotay dem buy am Jet una go tellam to reject am abi? Nonsense Bad belle people.

SO WHAT

Some years ago the members of our church TREM Utako bought a Kia Spottage jeep for our pastor Cole(may his perfect soul rest in peace), he never never asked for it and was surprised and even almost shed tears when we handed it to him that faithful day. If i feel moved to buy somtin 4 my pastor and i can afford it i'll do wats in my heart. No be MTN dey dash customers JET, y people no complain. We should stop deciving our selves as he has dedicated his life to serve GOD he deserves d best.

CONGRAS PASTOR AYO ORITSEJAFOR

It's not a crime for Pastor and President of CAN to own a jet if he believed he can maitains it. He is a President of Pentecostal Churches of Holy Ghost. If them of the world can own jet what is wrong for him to own a jet? Every person have his own personal problems or vision. Leave him alone because he never forced any body to buy it for him. May Lord Christ The Most High God of The Livings and Dead gives his angels of nature power to protect you in Christ name I pray amen.

SR are correct, He "Gifted" Himself that Jet !!

Thugs in the air! Wait, very soon the next news will be that one of them has died living the bogus lifestyle. The criminal clown calling himself pastor is has absolutely no God in his evil mind. Milking church goers for the money he used to gift himself an expensive toy, and given the calibre of fellow thugs in attendance, one would be foolish to believe that "presentation" story. SR have been consistent in revealing these crimes, goes back to the story, "What would Jesus fly in" (featuring: Oyedapo, with a gooffie smile) and my comment thereafter. SR are right on with "Pastor Oritsejafor Acquires Private Jet". On a day the Gospel in service today was about the poor woman that gave two pence, money budgeted for her food. Geuss who's "wealth" was welcome by Christ? These Naija pastors are All fraudsters. Thugs!

Money Laundering?

Are churches being used to launder money? Are these the signs of end time? Is "Many false prophets shall come in my name" playing out here? How flamboyant are Ayo's church members? Was a basket passed around?

Take heed people, the end is near!

HYPOCRITES!

They are all wolves in sheeps' clothing. Continue with your deceit of the poor who attend your congregations and are forced to part with their hard earned money to finance your stinking lifestyles. God is watching your criminal acts and surely, the day of reckoning will come. Liars!!

True Lies!

Why hide under the pretense that your congregation presented you a private jet when there are loads of displaced people whom the recent flood has rendered homeless and hungry... Oh, maybe those people aren't important to you Sir, what of the thousands of christains in the north who lost their lives in the church bomb blast in the north? Keep flying in the sky, God is watching you!

Pastors of Large Flocks...

Why do the likes of Dangote and Adenuga own Jets? Pastors of very large churches need them for the same reasons. If they dont use private Jets, they will use commercial jets and still pay very high rates, and waste a lot of time due to delays, not to talk of the appaling Air-safety records in Nigeria.

Please remember that the preaching of Prosperity is not a bad thing in itself, its just that it needs to be balanced with many other Biblical and spiritual topics.

Check scripture! The office of a Pastor was NEVER meant to be confined to penury. 'A Prophet is Worthy of Double Honour'. Selah.

Watch What You Say About Pastors...

Whilst not holding brief for the excesses of some "Pastors", I'm amazed at how naive (and ignorant) many so-called Christians are. A private Jet is just another means of transportation. Not everyone can afford to own one, true, but stop watch what you say about Pastors.
When you need to be in several places over a short span of time, commercial travel becomes very burdensome and time-consuming. If you can afford it, it makes sense to use a private Jet, especially when you move with several staff which the functions of your office require.
The kind of Study, preparation, Prayer and meditation these people are required to undergo makes it important for them to focus on their calling, and little else.
It'd be fool-hardy for anyone who doesn't need one to own one anyway, as they are so expensive to run/maintain.
