PDP’s Sambo Ducks Debate Of Vice Presidential Candidates -NigeriaPoliticsOnline
Vice presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Namadi Sambo failed to show up at the presidential debate between the major vice –presidential candidates in the April general elections.
The debate was scheduled to hold between Sambo of the PDP, Tunde Bakare of the Congress for Progressive Change, John Odigie-Oyegun of the All Nigeria Peoples Party and Mr. Fola Adeola of the Action Congress of Nigeria.
However, the PDP representative absconded from the debate while the three others went ahead with the debate even as they condemned Sambo’s absence.
"PDP's absence is arrogance of impunity" said Bakare. He added that Nigerians will not tolerate those with arrogance of incumbency and culture of impunity any longer.”
Members of the audience were also disappointed that Sambo did not attend the debate as one of them in a chat with the Nigeria Politics Online wondered if President Goodluck Jonathan will toe the footstep of his vice by not showing up for the presidential debate scheduled for next week.
“I hope Jonathan will not also disregard us like this man (Sambo) has done. I don’t know why they are afraid of debates.”
Adeola said the PDP could not absolve itself completely from the recent airplane accident he suffered in Bauchi since it was the ruling party.
Bakare said the PDP government style shows they see themselves as rulers and not servant leaders.
"They see themselves as rulers and not as servant leaders. I am not at all offended by PDP's campaign fanfare. PDP is having a farewell party across Nigeria." He said.
Meanwhile, the CPC through the official Buhari fan page has declared its vice – presidential candidate, Tunde Bakare the winner of the debate.
It arrived at the conclusion after Bakare’s closing statement.
“In conclusion, Pastor Bakare declared, ‘Gen. Buhari has a proven track record of saying and doing. That's why he's called 'Mai Gaskiya' - Man of Integrity’
“The VP debate is all over...WE WON!” The CPC concluded.
TEAM RIBADU KICKS...NN24 DEBATE : WE SUSPECT SABOTAGE
The Nuhu Ribadu campaign organization says it suspects that the reason given for the inability of Nigerians to see the vice presidential debate live may be less than truthful. The debate, organized by NN24, was not aired live allegedly because of satellite problems.
The campaign organization’s Director, Media and Communications, Ibrahim Modibbo, said they suspect the ruling party, the Peoples Democratic Party, pressured the TV station not to air the programme, because their vice presidential candidate, Mohammad Namadi Sambo, refused to attend.
“All the major parties were invited and we all turned up, except for PDP’s,” Moddibbo said. “They won’t come because they can’t defend their position to Nigerians and don’t even have a plan for moving forward. That is why , we suspect , they (PDP) put tremendous pressure on NN24 so much, that they couldn’t air the live debate.
“It is unfortunate that the ruling party is using state funds and institutions to intimidate the opposition and media organizations. What are they afraid of? Why won’t they come on air and tell Nigerians what they have to offer apart from good luck?”
He further added that he would be disappointed in NN24 if his suspicion is ever confirmed. He said journalism is for the fearless and no organization should give in to financial or government pressure, no matter what.
“However, hope is not lost,” he continued. “Since the opportunity of a live broadcast is lost, we demand that an unedited video of the debate be aired. We know that our Vice presidential candidate, Fola Adeola, outshone the others like a billion stars and it would be great injustice to deny Nigerians a chance to see their next VP in action. NN24 must correct their error by showing this debate. Nigerians must be allowed to make their choices based on antecedents, plans and strategy, not on sentiments or religious bigotry. They must see that we deserve far better than the poisoned chalice the PDP is offering them.”
Change
We deserve the great Nigeria our parents enjoyed not too long ago, now, in our lifetime. We must vote Change. Go Buhari!
'This is a total disgrace '
First and for most, I congratulated the organisers and the Vp aspirants that attended. In a nut shell, Nigerlans could see and measure out each candidate by virtue of thier elloquency, passion and the concerns for the state of affairs in Nigeria. Hence, the only reasons and why the Pdp vp had not shown up are as follow:(1) Lack of respect for the eletorates (2) Not willing to answer to the electorates (3) Partly because he has been ill informed by his party mouth piece, hence lack of proper information. As such, it is not the Vp's personality that was in question, rather, it was his party that is not properly structured like others. So also, it can be said that Pdp already showing lack of apetite to rule again.
WHEN ARE WE GOING TO LEARN OUR LESSONS?
After reading all the comments so far it appears we have all failed to learn from our past mistake. Our main problem is lack of tolerance toward each other. imagine calling your fellow a fool for expressing his/her views. Remember politicians thrive on deceit. They loot and misrule because we are divided. We must find ways to make whoever wins the election to be accountable. Looking at all the political party you can hardly find one with a clear cut ideology. We are all fighting each other online over them. To be frank with you debate or no debate we can make whoever wins in April accountable or boot that person out as done in other countries. Stop fighting and unite both online and on the street. Long Live Nigerian Masses
Janet Ebube and Magot Infested Ass
How could a woman of decent identity make such disgusting comment.
Please keep your maggot infested ass under the "Umblerra" that needs it badly.
@ Elmango Meat, BUHARI SHOULD SHUT UP!!!
Which money did he want to recover? ABACHA'S? Idiot. Who is he trying to fool? When he is using ABACHA's loot to fund his campaign? After enjoying ruling Nigeria with ABACHA, he had the gut to tell us that ABACHA is a saint. Stupid old man. God alone will destroy him in this election. He will be disgraced and humiliated. I only pitied BAKARE who is moved by emotions instead of asking God for the right direction in politics. Great will be their fall in April.
traversity
the absence of PDP sambo is a confirmation that its over for this dying party. we wont relent to vote them out enmasse. our organization boast of at least 5 million folowership and still counting...these criminals called pdp has got nothing to tell us..and even afraid to face us cos they know they have no answers to our questions...now nigerians beware its our duty to now ensure pdp is voted out after working out on nigeria at the debate...now we expect nn24 to send unedited copy to all local tv stations in nigeria for airing without further delay...
Good Talk
Please note that this so-called debate only issue is PDP. The truth is that these pretenders calling themselves V.P. candidates only talks about PDP and not their parties' programmes. One may ask, the basis of inviting only 4 parties. Was it based on opinion poll or just the organizers opinion. God save us from all these pretenders including SR.
Is This a Debate?
Note these:
(1) Presidential debates world over is always opportunities to tell the world what you are offering the people if elected. But based on the article on this so called debate as presented by SR, the V.P. candidates spent their time talking about the PDP. When you dwells on your opponents rather than talk about yourself, you are already a loser and that is what all these V.P. candidates are.
(2) Of what use is a debate that can not be view by majority of the people.
(3) Please note that Obama was not elected because of his performance at the debate but because of what he represented.
God save Nigeria from all these pretenders.
PDP cannot debate because their legitimacy is not from people
They have no legitimacy and have nothing to tell Nigerians. Sambo will better use the time to organise contracts for himself like he has beeing doing in the last one year he was VP. Goodluck has no idea about development so also sambo. Birds of the same feather flogs together. The anger of Nigerians will be meted to them in April. PDP is a dying party. Buhari/Bakare will put most of them in prison because that is where they belong. looters.

He said the days when government officials drive around in luxurious cars, leaving the masses in poverty are gone, stressing that if voted into power in April, his government will ensure availability of medicines in hospitals for the consumption of the masses and ensure the provision of adequate security, so that Nigerian citizens can sleep with both eyes closed.
That is the way it should be!
Sambo is right.
Sambo is right. What is the point in debating an election that you will 'win' anyway?
ITS BETTER FOR NAMADI SAMBO
I wonder why some people are surprised that NAMADI SAMBO boycotted the debate, but for me he is right because i don't think if he is capable. as his boss too spent more than 20 minute before replied to Atiku speech during the so called P.D.P primary election and despite the delay his answer dint satisfy our curiosity .
No dancing on the agenda
If you truly want GEJ and his rubber-stamp deputy to show up in any form of debate at all, make sure 2 things are top-most on the agenda;
1. One of their thieving friends is coming out of kiri-kiri
2. There will be drummers and singers to perform live, and as such your (V.) presidential candidate will dance.
Because non of this was on the agenda, I guess that was the major reason why they are not interested in the debate
Besides, was Dabo (Jonathan/sambo organisation's media chief) not confirming PDP's failure when he suggested that the campaign will not reach most Nigerians? I mean just think about it. If in the 12 years PDP has been in office and given the resources at their disposal, if they had done the right thing, would most Nigerians now not have access to electricity and be able to follow the debate?
The more they open their their corrupt mouths to defend themselves, the more they expose their inefficiency!
Time up, PDP. Your campaign rallies are nothing but send-off parties; dance while you still can!
Snake dey born elephant? Na
Snake dey born elephant? Na mumu fit born mumu. Na PDP fit born mumu like Jonathan, and na mumu like Jonathan fit born another mumu like Sambo. I sorry for Naija. Dem just dey do boju boju with our lives.
This clearly shows how
This clearly shows how incompetent the PDP is. In serious societies this would have been the end of it but for naija.....
GOD IS AT WORK, NO COMMENT
Sambo Ducks- smart decision
Sambo was right not to participate in this debate- what is the debate going to achieve? How many Nigerians have access to electricity which you need in order to watch television or listen to radio? I don't know why the writer of this article has to use such an accusational tone! Sambo, please carry on with your campaign jare!
SR, Please Screen Comments Before Publishing
The way some people reason on this site is beyond comprehension and its utterly discouraging.SR, its time you guys start screening comments on this site or you are going to start losing progressive followers from visiting this wonderful site of yours.Because, how do you argue with morons who will see an elephant in the room and still vigorously denied it existed.
SR, i appreciate what you are trying to do by posting all comments, but for god sake please check what people post here. All comments that are not constructive or civilized should be canned. That way, you would safe the rest of your followers the agony of reading irrelevant and unproductive postings from morons like Deri and co.and if they do not like it they can go launch their own site where they can feel right at home;among similar morons.SR,please think about it.
it is a shame that we have
it is a shame that we have Nigerians who can read and write defending PDP here. it's a shame!
SR LEARN TO BALANCE YOUR FAKE STORIES
The Peoples Democratic Party on Friday debunked insinuations in some quarters that President Goodluck Jonathan was afraid to engage other presidential candidates in an open debate.
The party said that the President was ready to slug it out with any of the candidates in a debate that was properly arranged.
In a telephone interview with our correspondent, the Director of Media and Publicity, Jonathan/Sambo Campaign Organisation, Mallam Abba Dabo, explained why the President and his deputy, Alhaji Namadi Sambo, would not be part of the NN24 presidential debate.
He said the television station was unable to convince the leadership of the PDP presidential campaign that the debate would be televised by local stations in the country.
He said since the NN24 was a cable television station, it might be difficult for the candidates to reach out to Nigerians, who he said should be the target audience.
Dabo said when the organisers of the debate came with the idea, they were asked to get in touch with local television stations and even produce letters of commitment from them (local stations) that they would be part of the programme.
He said the organisers, though promised to do that, failed to live up to their assurance.
Apart from this, he said the organisers did not take into cognizance, the ongoing presidential campaign of the President before coming up with the March 8 date for the debate.
By the campaign plan, the President and the PDP, he said, had already scheduled a rally for Bayelsa State.
Dabo said, “The organisers did not make a proper arrangement for the debate. They did not factor the presidential campaign rally into consideration because when they picked March 8, they ought to have known that the PDP rally was going to be in Bayelsa State that day.
“They came to me for the first time on March 6 and I told them about the President’s travelling arrangement.
“Apart from this, I asked them to reach out to local television stations like the NTA and others since we’re going to talk to Nigerians because NN24 is a cable television.”
“They said no problem, that they would bring a letter from NTA on that. Up till now, they have failed to bring the letter.
“The only thing they later came to tell me was that they had brought somebody from the CNN, who would anchor the debate. They came here on Thursday to ask if the vice-president would be coming for the debate.
“I ask them if they had got in touch with him and they could not give me an answer because by the programme of the VP, he was to be in Kano State for a reconciliation meeting among the PDP members.”
