President Jonathan To Address Nigerians On Insecurity

President Goodluck Jonathan is preparing to address Nigerians on the lingering security problem facing some states in the northern part of the country.

It is expected that the address will reflect two meetings he has had with security chiefs in the last few days.

The President is under immense pressure to act, especially following the killing of 90 security men in Nasarawa State last weekend, as his government is seen to be increasingly weaker.

As the insecurity widens, Jonathan is known to be considering the declaration of a state of emergency in the States most affected by Boko Haram violence. It is unclear if he has the stomach to tackle the fundamental problems that have left many able-bodied men and women with neither jobs nor prospects while politicians and officials of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party appear to be swimming in affluence.

Only two days ago, forty people were killed in Benue State. Scores of people were also killed in Borno and Yobe States a few days ago as Boko Haram appears to be growing bolder and more powerful. In one attack, the sect laid waste to a local prison and police station, and also attacked a military facility, all in the same day.

Yesterday, in a new video, the sect, which has now added kidnapping to its line of work, promised more attacks. In the waterways of Bayelsa, President Jonathan’s home state, civilians and policemen continue to be killed and robbed by heavily-armed thugs.

And a few days ago, the wife, daughter and driver of a Supreme Court judge were snatched by kidnappers as they drove into Benin City, Edo State.

It would be recalled that in 2011, Mr. Jonathan promised to defeat Boko Haram by June 2012. He has set up a committee to explore the possibility of granting amnesty to the group, but not only has Boko Haram rejected the idea, it has said that on the contrary, it is the government of Jonathan that needs amnesty from the militants.

Goodluck and the declaration of emergency

It is a show of strength by the administration to declare a State Of Emergency in those affected states perhaps life will be a little safe. But Goodluck should not blink his eyes on two things that ll generate more deadlier attacks in the future:incoming weapons into PDP hideouts to win 2015 election and the Boko Haram members in the Armed Forces who might frustrate this effort

Jonathan is a joke

"That is not correct"

What's the meaning of STATE OF EMERGENCY

Is the president saying he believes in the states government ability to take care of the bokoharam problem, 'cos we are not. They have been give the opportunity to prove themselves but have only added salt to the injury. The presidents choice of politics over the security of Nigerians has clarified the kind of leader he his. Nigerians are not morons, just that we are been lead by shallow minded leaders.
To the governors i say you have failed this country.

Incompitance

Jonathan is a cog in the ass.he's prove himself incompetance of ruling nigeria.what has adamawa state got to do with state of emergency.

What else should he have

What else should he have done, continue to watch these people reign terror? How ease do you think it could be, cubing this kind of extremists? Look all over the places that they've raised their swords, what trials do you see?. The president said what any sane and sound president should have said then, in order not to heighten the fears of its citizens, and when a method is not working because some powerful people who are aiming to gain control from the bloodshed are bent or frustrating the government, then he should inject other methods. All we hope for is the end of this reign of terror.

Meaningless gesture. What about Bayelsa State?

Corrupt and incompetent Jonathan should have declared a state of emergency in his home state of Bayelsa. The rampant violence there where at least 12 policemen were slaughtered by pro-PDP thugs( Jonathan's touts), is worse than what is obtained in Adamawa State. As they say, charity begins at home. Even Dumbo should know that. His playing politics with insecurity is bound to backfire.

Arm yourself with Guns & Watch your Back at all Times!!!

A basic fundamental problem that has lingered indefinitely and unfortunately has not been addressed for a several reasons.
Politics, Incompetence, Life has no value
Unconventional Guerilla warfare that the JTF is unable to handle
Unemployment, Religious Bigotry
Massive corruption and derivation of common human necessity
Underfunded State infrastructures (Water, Light, Road, Commerce)
Capital Neglect of States in the North, South, East & West (no accountability)
Post-Colonial Stupidity and Mentality
Massive OIL Wealth pissed in the Wind
Crude Oil theft unabated!!!
Old Ignorant Dinosaurs ruling the country
A country of intellectuals and do nothings, and wealth sharing like Hyenas.
Get your SHIT Together Nigeria, even Somalia can boast of a better Society ruled by a Central government and Warlords.
2015 - EFFECT CHANGE FOR A UNITED NIGERIA THAT NO ONE ETHNIC GROUP WILL BE NEGLECTED, ERADICATE CORRUPTION.
IT IS NOT WISHFUL THINKING - FOLLOW GHANA'S CHANGE AND SEE RESULTS

The Clock is ticking fast

The end is near. Because of our clueless leaders/politicians, the only alternative at worst to all this nonsense is a revolution, coup de tat (civilian or military type) or God forbid, another civil war. It is so unfortunate that we find our Country on the brink.
We can at this point, hold all our political leaders past and present accountable for all the abuse of power, corruption, massacres, killings and other sins. GEJ is wasting his time with these bankrupt people/advisors. He needs to act tough too avert impending disaster, for Nigeria to survive. He also needs to carry the people along. This isn't the time for political grandstanding because of 2015 and behaving like an ostrich, burying his head in the ground whilst this country burns and dies. People being killed left, right and centre. Na wa o. If he hasn't got anything concrete and reassuring to say, then any broadcast is an exercise in futility.

I HOPE THAT WITH THIS

I HOPE THAT WITH THIS ADDRESS, YOU WILL STAND UP VERY TALL, LOOK AT NIGERIANS FRONTALLY AND EYE BALL TO EYE, SHOW AND PROVE THAT, YOU ARE THE EXECUTIVE PRESIDENT OF NIGERIA AND THAT YOU WANT TO LEAD AND GORVERN NOW FROM THE FRONT. PLEASE DO NOT LET US DOWN AGAIN.

Blessed are those without expectations...

President Dumbo should get rid of his Security Chiefs, especially COAS Ihejirika and the IGP. Then declare a SoE in all the troubles States, install Sole Administrators (preferably, military) and then take a hard look at alternatives to joining criminal gangs: Jobs Creation/poverty eradication. Simple. No rocket science. Instead, he's worried about 2015 and reacting to every cough from every corner. He needs to focus his attention to governance for once, not talk-talk.

But, getting rid of Ihejirika/Abubakar is paramount to attaining his transformation of Nigeria dreams. With two more years to go, and nothing to show for the previous three in office, maybe, a complete overhaul of his Cabinet should be undertaken. In short, Dumbo needs to throw-in the towel ...he's not up to the task. Nigerians are tired of hearing his voice ...TalkShow Government!

Declaration of state of emergency we stand

It was here at sharareporters.com we first raised the need to declare state of emergency in the boko most volatile States of the North. These are Kano and Borno States and for the Military be the administrators of these areas. If you tame these two States you would have contain the boko. All you need in the other NW and NE States is significant presence of JTF.

Jonathan should not through naivety consider state of emergency in Plateau, Benue and Nassarawa States. The security problems in these States are not terrorism related but the increasing savagery of the Fulani herdsmen and cultists which need only heavy policing, as much as kidnapping in the southern part of the country.

Jonathan should not look at the faces of the elite and Emirs of the NW and NE. The security of the country comes before them. Declaration of state of emergency in Kano and Borno is highly essential. There is not any other way out of the well supported northern Muslims boko terrorism.

such speech should be made every month

long overdue

What else does this clueless

What else does this clueless President has to say? His government is looking into the situation and will bring it under control by 2015 if re-elected?
