You are being foolish. Not everybody worships ur god! Dele said what a lot of people have said of Achebe in life. Why lie because he is dead. Grow up. Achebe did not let a persons death stop him saying bad things about them!

@ Dele Awobgeoba ... a fool

@ Dele Awobgeoba ... a fool is counted wise by keeping silent. I challenged you about the correct meaning of a tribute but you had no answer to that. Rather, you chased shadows leaving the substance.

Your response confirms not only your foolishness but lack of common sense. Keep on living in your silly world of deluded stream of natural order. I pity you as you cannot perceive the early grave you are digging for yourself with your evil natural order. Repent now before it is too late.

By the way, I thought I should have been the least of the problems you created for yourself. That you chose to respond only to my comment shows the impact on you. I am vindicated and enough said.

Dear Shino, You have just

Dear Shino,

You have just displayed the highest level of ignorance in your comment. You should cover your face in shame. We are celebrating the passage of a great Nigerian Icon who is celebrated all over the world, and at the same time, mourning, because we do not have sufficient replacements for these great guys, due to the evil canker worm called mediocrity which has consumed this generation.

Rather than suck up to the ills you are holding onto, why don't you seek to ensure that in your own little way, you will not let down these ones who have gone ahead of us.

If I may ask, what legacy are you planning to leave behind for the next generation? This guy, as well as many others have left the indelible marks on the sands of time, please start thinking of how you can add yours to theirs

This man was a partial

This man was a partial disgrace. He did some good. I have to give him thst.

INTEGRITY has gone!

A symbol of integrity! Africa himself. A proud black!. An ancestor of his own time! Both the pens and the papers u wrote them on pray for ur eternal rest. Adieu ACHEBE!

@ Kool

Achebe attacked his better, I attacked Achebe and you are attacking me.....

that is the natural order. I cannot and should not attack you because I am then going against the stream! My focus remains on telling the Truth...a concept Achebe himself attempted to do!

My literary mentor has passed

My literary mentor has passed on. Rest in peace papa, you are indeed the father of african literature.

Rest in peace Great one

I wud have sent a message through Great Achebe to Abacha & Saraki but I just remembered that Achebe is not going to take their route & will not be dwelling in their furnace. The message will better be routed through OBJ...

...the message is actually meant for those who have in past time stolen the United SS&SE oil money in any way, & consequently destroying its ecosystem.

Great one, REST IN PEACE

Re: Evil finally departs.... in bad taste

@Dele Awobgeoba ... you stirred the hornet's nest and so expect missiles. Your "tribute" was insensitive and uncalled for. You committed the same evil you accused Achebe of with your "tribute". Achebe was blamed for condemning a dead man Awolowo who was no longer around to defend himself. You just did same thing to Achebe.

A tribute according to dictionary.com is a gift, testimonial, compliment, or the like, given as due or in acknowledgment of gratitude or esteem. What you wrote is not a tribute. The death of this great writer and novelist of Africa and not just Nigeria so fresh that it is inapporopriate now to speak ill of the dead, even by Yoruba custom.

Much as Nigerians of different tibes disagree on topical issues, we should avoid the repetition of ancestral misatkes and curses that have kept an elephant of a nation remaining as an ant. Two wrongs do not make a right. I think silence would be the wise thing for anyone who feels Achebe doesn't desrve their tribute.

THE PASSAGE OF LUCIFER INCARNATE

I remember when the great Chief Obafemi Awolowo passed on in 1987, this son of lucifer called achebe was dancing on his grave and abusing him that he does not deserve a national burial, talking like that to a nationalist that fought for nigeria independence and a master tactician that quench igbo uprising of 1966 in a bid to enslave nigeria under igbo domination forever. now achebe has gone to where awolowo went 26years ago, so there must be a lot of dancing on this numero uno tribalist grave, some says he was gerat in d literary world, did i miss something here that he was awarded nobel prize for literature, i begi les hear word which kin greatness be that lol.

Hi ......

We love you Achebe, you are our professor, the world icon, our African elephant, government fighter, the Ibo lion, great achiever, words can't say it all; we love you our dearest legend, you dwell on higher motives of inspiring our generations from the world go , you are the ocean that bullshitted the Nigeria government awards b'cos you dwell on high so there will be liberty, that alone shown that mankind and evil ain't negotiable. I thank heaven to have you as my scholar, mentor and literally father, i will weep no more, i will continue to pray for the repose of your soul.

Adieu My Muse

May his soul rest in peace. It is however my prayer that his family cremate his remains and scatter the ashes in the Atlantic. The source that gave him the outstanding global reach to humanity, least his funeral provides avenue for his greatness to be rubbished by ethnic jingoists and political rascals, who certainly are now angling and plotting at it. Adieu, my muse...

I would like Achebe and Ojukwu to look for Awolowo

I guess your wish would only be fulfilled in hell. They don't give a knock in heaven.

Chinua Achebe,..the Great Umuahian..

The great writer of Things fall apart and there was a country..who schooled at the prestigious Government College Umuahia... I was privileged to see his name written on the boards of School prefects at Umuahia for his set which was around 1930.
Nigeria and the world will miss you.I have to buy an original copy of 'There was a Country".
May your great soul R.I.P.

The pen is mightier, Achebe flung it

Chinua Achebe used his pen to bring Africa and Africans to the literary world. Africa and not just Nigeria as yet cannot replace Chinua Achebe. He may be gone but with his literary works he lives forever.

Chinua Achebe made one mistake in his life. Pen was his politics. He should not have at a point diluted it with party politics. In addition to his writing, Chinua Achebe should have been a daily newspaper publisher in Nigeria. This would have much augmented his literary works to direct Nigeria especially in the areas of sustainable leadership and politics.

Today the Igbo, the largest tribe in Nigeria, have not a representative daily newspaper like other major tribes of Nigeria. Your effective newspaper, like effective party politics, makes your tribe more relevant in the country. The Yoruba, especially, can attest to this.

However, Chinua Achebe lived a fulfilled life. May his soul rest in perfect peace.

I really enjoyed the book

I really enjoyed the book ''Things Fall Apart''

LIFE IS A STAGE

Life is but a STAGE
Everyone is like ACTOR,who comes, plays his part and is seen no more.

Your name is sparklingly written Crystaly Clear all over the World, here in Nigeria and in Ibo land in particular. We will continue to adore and honor you and may you find peace in the Lord. Please Salute the peoples Leader Gen O. Ojukwu waiting by the gates of Heaven for you. Please tell our Great founders and fore-fathers that we have all been reduced to shackled Slaves in our own failed State Nigeria. Tell them that the only hope and the undefeated voice of our masses have now departed from us. Tell them that they should continue to watch over-us save, the Vultures, crooks and rogues that parade the corridor of power in this failed state will continue to rejoice and merry over our sufferings. ACHEBE PASSES AWAY, THE PASSING AWAY OF A VERY GREAT MAN, MAY HIS GREAT SOUL REST IN PERFECT PEACE IN THE HANDS OF THE ALMIGHTY GOD. I DOUBT IF ANY OTHER MAN OR NIGERIAN CAN FILL THE SPACE THIS VERY GREAT INTELLECTUAL GAINT LEFT. YOU MADE US VERY PROUD AND NIGERIA, NIGERIANS AND THE WHOLE WORLD WILL ALWAYS, REPEAT ALWAYS CELEBERATE YOU.

No amount of infantile rant

No amount of infantile rant yorobas and other maggots will come close to denigrating the stellar legacies of the GREAT IROKO TREE OF AFRICA -Prof. Chinualumogu Achebe- the great son of Africa!

Due to the congenital treachery induced myopia of the yorobas, the yoroba people can never see beyond their nose, or may be beyond their deep seated envy and bitterness towards the Igbo people. This is the main reason behind all the noise from self proclaimed yoroba pundits, and quasi-intellectuals who conveniently ignored other issues addressed by Achebe in his last classic -There Was a Country- and focused only on attacking a manifest truth already know to everybody and was only retold by Achebe just because the criminal in question is their tin god Awolowo!

However, the world do not need the sympathy of triple faced maggots on Achebes death because he died a fulfilled man, and such a sympathy will be a sacrilege on death of a saint like Achebe.

Chinuoalumogu is gone!

May his soul rest in the bosom of God almighty! Good son of our land bye!!!

Salute

I truely missed my menthor. Goodbye

I would like Achebe and

I would like Achebe and Ojukwu to look for Awolowo there and give him a big knock on the head and numerous slaps on his face.I trust what they will do if they catch him there.

it is animals like you that

it is animals like you that keep this country the way it is.A country and people that will never accept the truth unless it is their version of events.Glorified illiterates that only celebrate mediocrities. He is resting in peace, mourned by millions and you?how will your end be?what have you done with your life that has impacted positively on humanity? Ask God for forgiveness because people like you end up in a bad way!!!!!!!!!

things have fallen apart indeed!

Though it has come to the end but it has not ended.u will continue to be in our heart.u were indeed a good writer who knew how to put words in writing.adieu

The iroko has fallen!

The iroko has fallen! Njinji ejie! Things have fallen apart and the centre can no longer hold! What can one say? I thank the Lord that he lived most uncomplicated healthy life in spite of his physical condition during his latter years. May his beautiful soul rest in peace in the bosom of our Lord in Jesus name. Amen.

May God also grant his nuclear family, the extended family, Ndi Ogidi, Ndi Igbo, Biafrans and Africans the fortitude to bear this great loss. Great man, kachifo!
