Protester Killed By Police In Ilorin Now Identified
The youth killed by the Nigerian police today in Ilorin, Kwara state during an anti-fuel hike protest has been identified as Muyideen Mustafa.
Credible sources in Ilorin told us that Mustafa was an Abuja-based youth who decided to participate in the protest only to meet his end at the hands of the police. Mustapha is 23 years old and hails from the Ajikobi ward in Ilorin.
Meanwhile, the Kwara State police command is twisting the circumstances surrounding the killing of Mustafa, claiming that he was stabbed to death by the National Labor Congress (NLC), which had earlier accused the police of shooting the unarmed protester.
The Police Public Relations Officer in Kwara state, Dabo Ezekiel, told AP that motorcycle-taxi drivers who were angry because they believed he was against their cause stabbed Mustafa.
The police are widely-known in Nigeria for violence and human rights abuses against innocent people which they then clumsily try to deny. In Delta State in November 2011, for instance, eyewitnesses recounted how policemen shot a former governorship candidate, Ogbe Onokpite, in cold blood.
But the state police commissioner, Ibrahim Tsafe, issued a press statement stating that the man was killed in crossfire.
And then last month, the Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Hafiz Ringim, responding to pressure from the family which had reported the matter to the Executive Director of the National Human Rights Commission, asked the same police commissioner to “investigate the murder.”
MAN'S INHUMANITY TO MAN
O God to whom vengeance belongeth! O God to whom vengeance belongeth!
Show thyself.

Why can't they take a clue from Egypt , libyan or Syria how can they let a fellow protester to die in their present and left the lifeless body with doing any thing to save his life or is it tru what the police said that the protesters murder the the fellow cos it with them it's too bad to win this war
Nigerian protesters are all fools

Police should be brought to justice
it is sad that this kind of kiillings by the Nigerian Police is still happening in this day and age.........what a shame!
Your ignorance on this issue
Your ignorance on this issue would have been funny on a good day but for now let me educate you a little. Who are the people in power and who are the people importing petrol? Are they not one and the same? The main thrust of this protest is not against subsidy removal but against a govt that's not practising what its preaching. How can a wasteful govt like our come and in good conscience tell nigerians we have to adjust? Have you read 2012 budget and seen where they are budgeting 280m for cutlery, 200m for gardening, 1.7b for fueling official cars? That, my dear friend is the crux of the matter. "He who must come to equity must come with clean hands"
Na god god punish u & ur
Na god god punish u & ur family including asshole jonathan 4 ur useless & poverty state idiot
@Bright Udemezue, it is obvious u just woke up from sleep
Some People just wake up and start saying rubbish.@Bright Udemezue, U are a perfect example of a gullible Nigerian,a man that doesn't even have a clue of what is happening in his own house. U must be a teenager because you sound so naive. Pls we dont need kids on this blog.
Goodluck Jonathan Is A Mad Man.
Goodluck Jonathan is a mad man. Let any pschologist disprove my assertion. An individual with no human feeling can rightly be diagnosed as psychotic/mental/insane.Mr Jonathan falls into this category of being. I think we are wasting our time. The best solution with all the crisis facing the country is to ask him to resign with immediate effect so that a capable person can return the country to stability once again.
I really pity those people
I really pity those people that come up here and post stupid comments about us giving Gej a chance..if u feel Gej is running this country in the proper wey then it only goes to show that there are actually bigger fools in this country than Gej and you are obviously one of them. May his soul rest in peace!!! This is just the beginning.the wise ones among us will not stop fighting untill we get back what the government has taken from us!!
RIP but..
It looks like a gunshot and not stab wounds. Burn down the police station with officers inside it. If care is not taken more terrorists could be formed in order to fight back...
Can somebody lock up the fools in their police stations please? They are the animals in human skin. Ilorin people are too quiet. Could that happen in Lagos without retaliation?
I AM FED UP!
RIGHT BEFORE OUR VERY EYES,WE BEHOLD THIS...NIJA!
BOKO HARAM.
FUEL SUBSIDY.
TOLL GATES
NEW PLATE NUMBERS.
NEW NEPA AND WATER TARRIFS.
ALL IN ONE YEAR!..HABA!...MAY ALL THOSE WHO ARE BRINGING HARDSHIP ON US BE CURSED!...MAY THEY REAP THE BOUNTLESS FRUITS OF THEIR LABOUR!....
AS FOR THE LOOTERS WHO LOOTED THE PETROLEUM FUND AND THE SUBSIDY,AND THE GOVERNMENT WHO HAS BEEN SELLING THE PETROL AT 65NAIRA WHEN EVEN THE ACTUAL PRODUCTION PRICE IS 4ONAIRA,AND NOW MAKING IT 141NAIRA IN ORDER TO BE ABLE TO GENERATE MONEY TO SERVICE CORRUPTION...I SAY YOU WILL NEVER EXCAPE THE WROTH OF GOD!
JONATHAN'S WIFE WAS ONCE APPREHENDED BY EFCC FOR MONEY LAUNDERING,YET WE CHOSE TO FORGIVE HER,EVEN THOUGH EFCC CLAIMED THEY CLEARED HER,YET JONATHAN IS DOING THESE TO US...AS FOR YOU JONATHAN....
police and their lies
dats wat is applicable in kwara state. when dis sort of atrocities are being perpetrated in the state they are hardly known by the masses and any step to disseminate such is made blink by the state media by giving fasle information to d public. may the soul of the man rest in peace. amin
one painful thing about the police is dat they are d most poor people in this country and have never supported the poor in their life, what u see dem do is to extort money from motorist and serve as puppet to d government.

Demonic GEJ and his Vampire Security Operatives
At the risk of sounding cowardly, I have
often times canvassed for a very bloody
coup de tat to save us this kind of loss
Of innocent Nigerian life. Again I herewith
Maintain and opine that it remains our only
Option to clean out our political Augean
Stable. May the comrade soul of the Jonathan-
Murdered youth rest in perfect peace.
GEJ should know that even in this life his
Own children, if he has any, will be murdered
For no course at all, cos as they say what
Goes round does come around Amen
Mr not so bright
Mr not so bright Udemezue
Yoruba people have a proverb "cutting of the head is not a cure for headache"
If our government has identified a crime that is robbing the populace of Trillions then they should do something about the crime and criminals.
If our president is admiting that some people are untouchable then he is not fit to rule.
I am glad you mentioned europe, there is corousel fraud(VAT rebate related) and benefits fraud in the UK but that has not stopped the UK government from giving benefits to the needy and VAT rebates to exporters. They just keep investing more into fraud detection and prosecution as a deterent.
SHORT TERM PAIN FOR MEDIUM AND LONG TERM GAIN
IT BEATS MY IMMAGINATION THAT SEEMINGLY EDUCATED NIGERIANS PREFER TO PAY 'TAX' TO A CONNECTED FEW WHO THRIVE IN OFFICIAL CORRUPTION IN THE NAME OF SUBSIDY.REPLACE THE PPMC OFFICIALS WITH THOSE CALLING GEJ TO FIGHT CORRUPTION AND THEY WOULD BE COMPROMISED BY THE RENTIER CABAL AND WE WOULD BE BACK TO SQUARE ONE.SO WHY NOT ALLOW MARKET FORCES TO PREVAIL, WE TAKE THE SHORT TERM PAIN NOW FOR MEDIUM TO LONG TERM GAIN IN DUE COURSE? THIS HAS BEEN OUR EXPERIENCE WITH THE TELECOMS SECTOR.EARLIER ON, NIGERIANS USED TO WASTE MILLIONS OF MAN HOURS PER DAY HUNTING FOR WATER TILL THE PRIVATE SECTOR CAME IN. SATCHET'PURE WATER' IS UBIQITOUS AND HAS BEEN N5.00 FOR OVER 15 YEARS NOW.REMOVAL OF SUBSIDY IS GOOD FOR THE COMMON MAN.THIS IS SIMPLE ECONOMICS.
Mr. Bright Udemezue, can i
Mr. Bright Udemezue, can i ask you some questions? do you live in Nigeria? have you been outside your home in the past two days? how much is transport now? i make bold to say shame on you!!! people are suffering! when majority of a people are not happy with a policy, then it is pure stupidity for any leader to ignore them!!! SHAME ON YOU! SHAME ON GOODLUCK, can you ride a bicycle from your state to another. Mr. act like your name, or you should change that name!!
you re 2ruly a fool
If you were not a fool, am sure u wouldn't talk like one, who is saying d president shudnt remove subsidy, but how can he remove subsidy when d refineries are not working, the lights re not stable, no good roads, no proper means of transportation, y am I even talking to you, you are obviously retarded. ASS HOLE. Fool
useless police
The painful thing is that this useless police will also be affected by this act of injustice. They and their families will also suffer the brunt of the increase, cos unless their minimum wage has been increased from 18k to 500k a month, how will they survive? BLOODY FOOLS, instead of them to point their guns @ aso rock, they shot an innocent citizen that also fighting on their behalf. Rest in peace muyideen mustapha, the hero of our time.
PROTESTS IN SUPPORT OF NIGERIA'S FUEL SHARKS
THE CURRENT MINDLESS PROTEST MAKES A MOCKERY OF WHAT PROTESTS ARE ALL ABOUT. I HAVE NEVER IMAGINED IN MY LIFE AS A NIGERIAN THAT FELLOW NIGERIANS WILL EVER RISE TO PROTEST IN SUPPORT OF THEIR REAL ENEMIES, AMONGST WHOM ARE NIGERIA'S FUEL SHARK BILLIONAIRES.
HOW DOES ANYONE DEFEND THE SHARING OF OUR SCARCE NATION'S WEALTH TO A FEW INDIVIDUALS IN THE NAME OF FUEL SUBSIDY. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO BICYCLES THAT HAVE BECOME ONCE MORE A POPULAR MEANS OF TRANSPORT EVEN IN EUROPEAN NATIONS. SHAME TO THE PROTESTERS AND THEIR LEADERS.
Gbadluck
This man has no clue on how to run this country. He is a drunken pipe dreamer.
He has to be removed asap ot Naija wud crash!
MORE HARD TIMES AWAITS NIGERIANS
Thank you Jonathan for the FRESH AIR. this is the price that those who voted you have to pay. for us that did not vote you, we already expect this and more.

I was not happy to ear that our police do something like that ,why ,WONI TI A BA RAN ENIYAN NI ISE ERU KO FI OMO JE ,about the jona what is name your head of state ,dont looking anything from him ,will need to pray to God to help Nigerians .

Revolution Part 1
Fellow Nigerians,
This is the opportunity we have all been waiting for. This protest should address most of the issues plaguing us as a country. Aside from the fuel subsidy, we should achieve the following also
1. Salaries of all political appointees and elected officials right from federal, state and local level should be reduced to the minimum wage (N18,000) Any of them that doesn’t want this should resign
2. All allowances of political appointees and elected officials right from federal, state and local level should be cancelled. Any of them that doesn’t want it should resign.
3. All security votes should be cancelled. Any of them that doesn’t want it should resign.
4. All housing allowances of political appointees and elected officials right from federal, state and local level should be cancelled. Any of them that doesn’t want it should resign.
Hopeless Hopeful
U r indeed hopeless. Does it take courage 2 inflict pain?
In Ghana citizens don't fuel generators after fuelling. ur cars u fuel u gen daily. Courage would av bn creating stable power supply b4 subsidy removal
Using our forieng reserve 2 build refineries nd now sell on d stock mkt 4 profit thereby reducin unemployment rate drastically
Creating alternative means of trans like rail dat won't require fuel 2 run 2 reduce effect of PMS on our lives
Do u now c y u r hopeless? U r like the Moron of Aso rock, plain blind and stupid period
shame on our government
my fellow nigerians , wat remains nw is dat we hav 2 make sure dat d protester did nt die in vain. May his soul rest in peace.
THIS IS WICKEDNESS!
D Police should stop killing innocent people and let us fight for our right,we have the right to say NO to oil subsidy, because this is democracy evry citizen has his rights,so let us be!
I need guns, bullets n bomb
Its like am betrayin my country seeing not d effect of our so called peaceful protest. These bastards in govt brought us sufferings n despair on a new yr day n all we do is 2 exchange the inhuman act 4 dialogue and a peaceful protest. Big shit!
Its either d use of guns, bullets n bombs by d masses or d continous loss of our lives in vain. We can at least take a clue 4rm Egypt, Libya n Syria
