The publisher of Kaduna-based Desert Herald Newspaper, Tukur Mamu, has dared the Minister of the FCT, Bala Mohammed to carry out his threat of suing him over the contents of a yet to be published book titled “FCT Administration: The Rot Within”.

Mr. Mamu, who was responding to a notice sent to him by Mr. Mohammed’s lawyer, Kyari Gadzama, SAN, asking Mr. Mamu to retract and apologize or face legal action, said “we stand by our earlier publication that Sen. Bala Muhammad, Ibrahim Bomoi and other FCT officials and appointees that featured prominently in the book are corrupt and we will not offer any public apology or a retraction”.

“We are ready to defend our claim of corruption against the two public office holders whenever they decided to go to court,” he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Mr. Mohammed and the FCT director of treasury, Ibrahim Bomoi, had threatened to sue Mr. Mamu for five and two billion naira respectively as damages, for what they described as “series of damaging publications through DESERT HERALD and other national dailies”.

In his statement on Wednesday, Mr. Mamu also alleged that the FCT Minister had written to the Inspector General of Police to arrest and prosecute him for allegedly demanding N15 million bribe through one Nosike Ogbuenyi.

Mr. Mamu said it is the Minister and his officials that are supposed to apologize to him.

“It is indeed the Minister and his Director of Treasury that are supposed to tender their retraction and apology to Tukur Mamu for their multiple contradictions of claims of blackmail and extortion of N50m, N15m & N10m in the series of advertorials and articles they sponsored,” he said.

lets call a spade a spade as u just said, owing someone is not corruption, pastor has not really told us why the man refused to balance up.we need to find out from pastor if he did not inflate the price of paper supplied as typical of nigeria contractors. The situation can be term as breach of contract, and not corruption. so if pstor is clean, let him go to court for breach of contract

pls lets differentiate this from corruption.

The disease called CORRUPTION.

For those of us in diaspora,we are always confronted with shame whenever the name Nigeria is mentioned during the course of chatting with colleagues.
Nigeria is presently known as a country where the leadership encourages corruption.
Please fellow Nigerians, let us stand and fight this cancer called corruption before the country of our fatherland is eaten off.
Election 2015,gives us one more opportunity to make a better choice.

corruption...corruption...corruption...

...cant we for once call a spade a spade...i believe we have forces that we call enemies of progress...one needs to check himself properly b4 accusing the other...mamu should understand that journalism is not all about calumny but an instrument to encourage socio-economic development of our dear country Nigeria...i advise that u should not be part of this cos it doest speak well of ur integrity nd self esteem...u are a devouted muslim and God himself said...as the hausa man would say..."ALLAH YA HANA BINCHIKE"....we've not even gone far but someone is claiming that u are still owing him...this is self explanatory that u have to clear this issue before accusing Bala Kaura of corruption...i want to believe u are not a saint cos "he who laughs last laughs best...

go for it Sani, go!!

This man has amassed billions of public money and has done nothing for the city of abuja.
He would be the first to tell you that Dubai is beautiful. Is abuja not supposed to be our Dubai? Rubbish everywhere, bumbs on the road in the name of speed reduction. Why not use our money to do orientation, provide good traffic lights and who ever speeds beyond limit is summarily punished rather than rampant bumps. Beggars everywhere. Take a walk, it is impossible the well planned pedestrian ways have turned to car parks and beggars trucks.

The president has so much to answer why he still kept him. He is doing his underground bidding for him and Patience.
