Shell Oil Company Sponsored UN Report On Ogoni Spill, Says MEND

It's obvious that Shell is just trying to somehow compensate so that they can stay in the region and be the lead exploiter of its oil resources. I work for Company Registrations Online so I know how many legal issues you have to face to stay in business. However, due to the huge environmental crisis they caused, the Nigerian state should keep all of it under closer supervision.

So what if $hell sponsored the assessment project/report? Ogoni will accept this report because it vindicate us and others of Niger delta-this is what we're killed for and now this report confirms it. Reality is $hell didn't sponsor the report, rather it sponsored the assessment project based on the polluters' pay doctrine under international law. Who should have sponsored this project if not the polluters, $hell and the federal government? Should it have been Ogoni, UN or Niger delta? No! You should first understand how international law or politics (intl relations) work in respect to environmental assessment and other issues. You've right to speak, especially because Ogoni and other Niger deltans are cousins. But you must first know the facts. Also, you failed to deliver resource control many have died for even when you've the leverage or upper hand. Inconsistency, because you had no vision, and amnesty robbed Niger delta of its prime success. Too bad!

Oil companies are spending millions and in the case of BP billions on oil spills, when there is a proven technology, they have utilized, that will save them enormous amounts of money and time associated with spill response. OSE II a first response bioremediation clean up product that will address 100% of a spill, OSE II causes oil to float preventing secondary impacts, allowing natural bacteria to digest the oil to CO 2 and water preventing oxygen depletion to the water column. OSE II diminishes the oils adhesion properties, so if wildlife or marine species come into contact with the floating oil, it will not adhere. OSE II rapidly breaks the oils molecular properties so it can be used as a food source for bacteria, this allows a spill site to return to pre spill conditions rapidly. The oil companies using outdated oil spill response techniques running up costs needlessly.

Dr. Goodluck Jonathan stands to be one of the worse president and it's unfortunate that he's said to be of Niger Delta origin, in fact so far, i can say that Jonathan policies toward the Niger Delta is worst than his predecessor. Dr. Jonathan has no sustainable policies towards the people of the oil rich region except the fragile amnesty which his cronies are living fat of.

Even with the UNEP report that just came out, although the report itself is with enough shortcomings and insensibilities in its final verdicts. Especially the many faulty but deliberate omissions and insensibleness of the Ogoni geography that's capable of spurring inter-communal logjam. Yet the report is first of its kind in that part of the world, but with such a dangerous discoveries there should've been state of emergency in Ogoniland if at all the government of Nigeria was seeing the lives of the Ogoni people as anything serious. That wasn’t the case and it’s unfortunate that the Ogoni people even with their contribution to the development of Nigeria has no one that protect them from vicious oil companies and brutal Nigeria government.

Yesterday Nigerians and Shell said it was Niger Deltans who often go about sabotaging the 50yrs old shell oil pipe lines. That UN or whatever agency has acknowledged that this is not the case, should be seen as a welcome development. Meaning all the pipe lines must stop exporting oil from bonny until the clean up exercise which will take UP to 30yrs is complete. No hunger in Nigeria cause we have other sources of revenue. What can Jona can do with the TRIPOD chasing him from pillar to post? Niger Deltans must come out and fight for their rights. Amnesty deal does not mean resource control or fiscal federalism.

They are offering 1 billion dollars for an operation that will last over 50 years, yet our leaders are queueing up to collect this insultive compensation. We think it is high time Goodluck Jonathan, puts his foot down and behaves him self, for now his administration has been nothing but an out right disgrace especially to the people of Niger Delta. All hi s moves and body language has shown Nigerians that it will ne business as usual. For crying out loud, if you personal score with Mr.president, go straight to and do not use the Ogoni issue as a rallying point. Yes, shell paid for the study, but the Ogoni are satisfied with outcome, except the number of years it will take to remedy the environment. Ogoni experts are still studying the report and will come out with a position soon. Ogoni do not need MEND to speak for her. When MEND was collenting hundreds of millions from govt, they did not remember Ogoni. So keep your grudge between you and your kinsman and leave Ogoni out of it.

Only God can answer this question of the indgnition being suffered by the ogoni people. Only God knows why he gave them oil, either to punish them or to bless them. Only God knows why He has given Nigeria bad leaders, wicked leaders, and evil men as leaders. Only God would know why he made the white man to be above the black man.
