Southern Kaduna Killings A Plot to Set Kaduna On Fire, SOKAPU Says
The Youth Wing of the Southern Kaduna Peoples Union (SOKAPU), has reacted to yesterday’s killing and burning of six members of a family in Southern Kaduna, including two pregnant women, saying it is a deliberate plot to set the state on fire and pitch people of the area against Governor Patrick Yakowa.
In a statement posted on Facebook, and signed by its president, Sabastine Luka, SOKAPU said it would stand in support of Governor Yakowa.
“From the foregoing, the persistent killings in Southern Kaduna portray that there is more than meets the eye,” the statement said. “And the killings are deliberately skewed to pitch the people of the area against the person of Sir Patrick Ibrahim Yakowa, the Executive Governor of Kaduna State.
“It is also deliberately planned to cause confusion in Southern Kaduna, and blackmail the person of the governor. We wish to state that come what may, we are standing and in full support of Governor Yakowa without any acrimony contrary to the image some elements want to create and want the world to believe.”
SOKAPU called on the security agencies stationed in Southern Kaduna to ensure absolute protection of the people of the area and prevent the annihilation of the people of Southern Kaduna.
“We are by this also demanding full investigation of all the killings perpetrated in Southern Kaduna with full blown impunity, because its obvious like we pointed out that these killings are a high wired organized killings. All those involved must be exposed and openly prosecuted to demonstrate the sincerity of the Federal Government in tackling terrorism and insurgency.”
The group warned that if the ongoing attacking and killing of their people is not nipped in the bud, they would be left with no option than to do everything in their power to defend themselves.
“Our tolerance and silence should not be taken for weakness,” they said.
