President Jonathan condoles Gov. Oshiomhole over wife’s death

President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan has expressed sadness over the death of Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole, wife of Edo State governor, Adams Aliyu Oshiomhole, who passed on yesterday at age 53.

In a condolence message to Governor Oshiomhole, and the government and people of Edo State today, President Jonathan said Mrs. Oshiomhole’s death is a great loss not only to Edo State but the nation in general, given her invaluable contributions to the cause of humanity.

President Jonathan described late Clara Oshiomhole as a heroine of justice and a strong supporter of the rule of law, recalling her rock-solid support for her husband, through his days as a frontline labour activist.

The president noted that Nigerians will not forget in a hurry her contributions towards addressing high mortality rate through her initiative, Health Foundation for Maternal and Child Care, aimed at providing quality healthcare for pregnant women and the girl-child.

He prayed the Almighty to grant repose to her soul, and give the Oshiomhole family, the people of Edo State and the entire nation the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.

Atiku condoles Oshiomhole

Former Vice President and presidential aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar has described the death of the wife of Edo State governor, Her Excellency Mrs Clara Oshiomhole as a big loss not only to the family but to the state and entire country.

In a statement issued in Abuja yesterday, Atiku said “we cannot forget in a hurry how this woman stood as a solid pillar behind her husband, the Governor, through his days as a frontline labour activist and through the struggle to reclaim his mandate freely given to him by the good people of Edo State.”

He prayed  that God will give the governor, the children and the entire people of Edo state the fortitude to bearing the irreparable loss.

Lagos ACN Mourns Mrs. Oshiomhole

The Lagos State chapter of the Action Congress of Nigeria has sympathized with the Governor of Edo State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole over the death of his loving wife and first lady of Edo State, Mrs. Clara Oshiomhole. The party urged Governor Oshionhole to bear his great loss with a spirit of equanimity as the death of his wife is not only a loss to Edo, State, the ACN but also the entire country.

In a release in Lagos, signed by the Lagos State Publicity Secretary of the ACN, Joe Igbokwe, the Party describes the late first lady of Edo State as a calm and reserved lady who has contributed immensely towards the development of Edo in the short period she has been the first lady of the state. The Party therefore prays God to grant the departed first lady of Edo State a peaceful repose while granting her husband the fortitude to bear the loss.

“For us in the ACN, the death of Mrs. Oshiomhole is a rude shock, coming when least expected such ugly news. For the entire people of Edo State, the death is a devastating development and to the comrade Governor, the death of his dear wife is a painful occurrence at this critical time in our nation’s history. We all knew and cherish Mrs. Oshiomhole through the unobtrusive and matured way she comported herself such that she never allowed her high office to force her to obstruct the great works her husband is doing to recover Edo State from long years of devastation.

“Mrs. Oshiomhole was an epitome of trained womanhood who was always there to compliment the works of her husband from the stormy days as the country’s topmost labour leader, through the murky waters of politics and further through the period of persecution which marked the fight for the recovery of her husband’s mandate and eventually to the glorious return of the stolen mandate. We note that Mrs. Oshiomhole, like other first ladies of our great Party, the ACN, had maintained a quiet and unobtrusive but very active presence as the first lady of Edo State and has avoided the prevalent urge in Nigeria to struggle for the limelight with her husband.

“As the first lady of Edo, Mrs. Oshiomhole ran the Health Foundation for Maternal and Child Care, which assisted tremendously in providing quality healthcare for children and pregnant women in Edo State. She dutifully complimented her husband as he embarks on the arduous task of restoring Edo to her lost glory.

“We mourn Mrs. Oshiomhole, a wonderful woman and firm believer in the ideals of progressive politics. We mourn with the Edo State chapter of the ACN, the government and the good people of Edo State at this sad moment. We pray that God should grand Mrs. Oshiomhole a sweet repose in heaven and grant her husband the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.”

Joe Igbokwe.

Publicity Secretary,

Lagos ACN.

Bayelsa State Governor, Timipre Sylva Condoles Oshiomhole

Governor Timipre Sylva of Bayelsa State has expressed pain and regrets over the death of the wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs Clara Oshiomhole. In a condolence message to Governor Oshiomhole on Wednesday, Sylva described Mrs Oshiomhole’s death at this time as not only a huge loss to her husband and family but to the people of Edo State, the South-South, and beyond.  A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Doifie Ola, quoted Sylva as describing Mrs Oshiomhole as a great pillar of support to her husband and, indeed, other governors, in the big task of governance.

According to the Bayelsa Governor, “Her passing at this time, when the tempo of our national political responsibility is nearing fever pitch is a collective loss. It is a loss very hard to bear”.  Chief Sylva advised his Edo State counterpart to take solace in the life of fulfilment his late wife has lived, and the fact that God is the ultimate and perfect decider. “We pray Him to give you and the family grace to bear the loss”.

What a loss!

May her soul rest in peace and May God console those she has left behind. I agree with KillDcorrupt...'I also sympathize daily with many others and the poor who die on a daily basis, mostly because Nigerian politicians stole money that should have been used to provide basic amenities for everyone regardless of their status'.... The Governor should use this opportunity to address the inefficiencies of our General Hospitals in Edo State, especially the one at Auchi that cannot treat even appendicitis or Caesarean section. That hospital has killed our people, too many to be counted. As it is happening in Auchi, so may be the case in other parts of the State. Please look into this issue and save our people.
Mun9, London

we miss you

the people of Edo State and Nigeria as a nation will continue the good work you have left behind and will continue to give support to your husband and your family. May your suol rest in perfect peace Amen.

The Death of Mrs Clara Oshiomole

People die. People live. People cry. People laugh. Death is inevitable "it will come when it will come" but sometimes how, when somebody die makes a different story. Somebody said it is a fulfilled life but this may not be the belief of our dear Governor bcos He needed the support of this woman at this very time. It is not possible that His excellency had no enough money to fly her abroad but recent happenings has shown that the disease in question is usually a hard nut to crack (we may ask IBB). However, my dear Governor should keep calm and remain focussed. Mrs Clara has completed her assignment, the Governor is still on his own. May our Lord Jesus Christ console him and his children.

So Sad

When the rich Dies, people cry and shout because a great woman have gone six feet beyond. And News papers carry it and you find it in the from page of any news papers. But when the poor dies, Two ear will not hear because he does not have enough money to give him/her a grand condolence.

His Excellence Comrade Adams Alhiu Oshiomole the governor of Edo State. Please accept my sincere condolence and please carry on from were she stopped and do not let that way you dawn your carrier to lift this state high.

God knows why it has happened and no man can challenge that. If it was what you can change as the Governor, you would have done that but God knows why it happens that way.

Bye.

Keep up the good work that you have started while your wife was alive so that her mandate will be fulfilled. May her soul rest in peace.

CLARA of EDO STATE.

I join millions of other Edo indigines in mourning the passing away of Clara Oshiomole. The very important point to note is the emphasis all mourners have placed on the character of Clara as an unassuming and faithfull personality in the life of her husband, Nigeria and latelly Edo life. A lady of immense substance who touched all that she came across and many who probably have never met her, like my person. Even though her passing away is VERY SAD, she is leaving a legacy that would be hard to measure. I recall, watching on live TV, at end of her husbands maiden speech, at Ogbemudia stadium, Benin-city, on his inauguration nite, Adams turned to her for a public embrace and Clara instinctively exhibited the shyness of a new bride just about to leave her fathers domain for the first time.....this expression sums up, for me, the beautiful, unassuming and disciplined personality we have all come to know as 'Clara of Edo State'. You are gone but will remain in our loving bossom for ever.I urge parents of all new born female babies of Edo stock, everywhere in the world, to name their princesses after CLARA, as confirmation of our undying love for this quiet AMAZON of our time.

CONDOLENCE FROM ACN UK EDO STATE CHAPTER

The entire member of ACN United Kingdom Edo state Chapter under the distinquished chairmanship of Mrs Pauline George Bakare Taiwo extends our sincere condolence to our Comrade Governor and family for the untimely death of our dear mother, gaint and pillar of Edo state. Mrs Clara Oshiomhole's death is not a loss to the OShiomhole family only but every Edolites. May Almighty God give our Comrade Governor and all of us the grace to bear the loss. Etenal rest grant her o Lord. Amen.

COMRADE, OUR HEARTS ARE WITH

COMRADE, OUR HEARTS ARE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AT THIS TIME OF BEREAVEMENT, JUST KNOW THAT YOU ARE NOT ALONE AT THIS MOMENT OF PAINS; WE ALL COMMENSURATE WITH THE GOOD PEOPLE OF EDO STATE OVER THE LOSS...MAY HER SOUL CONTINUE TO REST IN THE BOSOM OF HER CREATOR UNTIL WE MEET TO PART NO MORE.THOUGH THE ROAD YOU HAVE TRAVELLED HAS COME TO AN END BUT YOU LEGACIES LIVE ON WITH HUMANITY, I REMEMBER YOUR SMILES AT THE INAUGURATION OF YOUR HUSBAND WHEN THE COMRADE GOVERNOR ATTRIBUTED HIS SUCCESS TO YOUR STEADFASTNESS IN PRAYERS, IT IS SO PAINFUL THAT YOU DID NOT LIVE ON TO WITNESS THE VICTORY YOU WON ON YOUR KNEES BUT WE SUBMIT TOTALLY TO WISHES OF GOD WHO ALONE KNOWS THE END FROM THE BEGINNING AND ORDAINED THAT YOU, LIKE MOSES, WILL SEE THE PROMISED LAND BUT NOT SET A FOOT ON IT.ADIEU MY FRIEND, ADIEU MAMA EDO, ADIEU CLARA

Decision Time...

This is a reminder that no matter how fortunate we think we are in life, or how much money we amass to ourselves either fraudulently or legitimately, disease and death always treat all of us equally when it comes calling. While I sympathize with the Governor for loosing his wife, I also sympathize daily with many others and the poor who die on a daily basis, mostly because Nigerian politicians stole money that should have been used to provide basic amenities for everyone regardless of their status.

The Governor's wife will rest in peace, and the Governor will find solace and the strength to forge ahead if he uses this opportunity to do what is right for his people who elected him into office. Instead of amassing wealth for personal use, this is an opportunity to do the right thing that will help the poor who see death everyday as a direct result of greed and selfishness by those in positions of leadership. Maybe if there are hospitals in Nigeria that are equipped, a lot of the diseases that kill thousands of Nigerians everyday would be caught and treated on time.

Rest in Peace

Mrs Oshiomole has been an example of a help meet. I do not think the comrade governor could have done all he did if the home front was in disarray.

May God comfort the Oshiomoles, her extended family and friends.

May His loving arms be with their daughter at this time. Loosing a loved one is painful, more so your mother a few days to your wedding.

Rest in Peace

May the Lord grant her peaceful rest!

My No. 1 Governor in Nigeria, please, take heart. God is on his throne and knows everything that happens on earth. The Holy Bible tells us that there is a reason for every season; a season of birth and a time to die. She lived the number of years God alloted to her on earth and then allowed her home to rest peacefully permanently. May she find this permanent peace in the heavenly kingdom in Jesus name. Amen.

For my Governor and family, I pray the Lord to give you courage to bear this loss and her absence; and the strength to continue to go on in life knowing full well that each of us will answer the heavenly call at the time, not of our choice but as it pleases the Almighty. God bless you all in Jesus name. Amen.

May her soul rest in perfect peace.

I send my condolence message to the Edo state Government and the good governor of Edo state. I pray for the good Lord to console the family. It is such a sad turn of event. I also want to address Mr. Abimbola G. This is a sad moment, there is no need to use this dark moment to bash any government in Nigeria. For your information, wife of a former US presidential aspirant (Mrs. Elizabeth Edward) died about the same time Nigeria lost Mrs. Oshiomole. No matter how good health provision you may have available, when it is time to go, there is no holding back. Let talk about poor governance in Nigeria some other time. Thanks.

The ultimate tribute to Clara Oshiomhole!

I do not know much about her life or life history. I am not sure when this picture was taken either, but she looks so much at peace.

May her soul also rest in perfect Peace. Amen.

Not even half as much sympathy would come the way of some of our 'leaders' when the ultimate equalizer knocks on their doors.

I have always said that no matter a situation, there is invariably a lesson therein.

What lesson can we learn from her death?

It was Stephen Grellett who said "I shall pass through this world but once. Any good therefore, that I can do or any kindness that I can show any human being, let me do it now. Let me not deter or neglect it, for I shall not pass this way again."

Our health care system needs to be radically improved. We can start this improvement and revamping process from the most efficient and cheapest way, which is preventive.

I hope that Edo State, under the governorship of Oshiomhole will take this opportunity in genuinely revamping their health care system. You do not have to build multi million Naira Institutions. A simple Breast screening, and for men, Prostate screening program will do a lot in reducing the load of end stage Cancer of any type in our people.

That will be the ultimate tribute that you can pay to Clara Oshiomhole and other Edo State citizens who have faced premature death from whatever cause.

Meanwhile we are still waiting for Turai YarAdua's Multi Billion Naira Cancer Institute she raised money for, to get kicking. Every little contribution counts.

May God give you and your family the fortitude to bear the loss.

Condolence From My Family And I

@ Oversabi: I'm in the same wavelength with you on this - in that, Oshiomhole did not use Edo's money to send her abroad for medication.

Most corrupt and dirty politicians would not have left their wives in Nigeria. They'd have spent the thrift and commonwealth of our people to send her overseas.

Oshiomhole is living and leading by example.
