US Department Of Justice Executes Forfeiture On US Assets of Former Bayelsa Gov. DSP Alamieyesigha-WSJ
The Department of Justice executed a forfeiture order Thursday on $401,931 in a Massachusetts brokerage fund traceable to an allegedly corrupt former Nigerian governor.
The forfeiture was the first victory for a fledgling Justice Department initiative dedicated to seeking out assets in the U.S. linked to high-level foreign corruption.
Prosecutors filed court papers in April 2011 targeting a $600,000 Maryland home and a Massachusetts brokerage account belonging to Diepreye Peter Solomon Alamieyeseigha, governor of Nigeria’s oil-producing Bayelsa State from 1999 to 2005. According to prosecutors, Alamieyeseigha’s assets were the proceeds of corruption. Alamieyeseigha denied the allegations in court filings.

US pass judgement on former
This is very very good, at least some of these many Nigerian "thieves" in position of trust, are being held accountable for their ill-gotten wealth; wealth amassed from and on the backs of many Nigerians. They escape judgement most of the time from Nigeria. But one must add quickly, that, if there are no enabling policies in these developed countries, these "thieve" will not have a place to "invest" their stolen monies.

UGLY AS A MAN..UGLY AS A WOMAN...UGLIER AS A THIEF !!!
He should have been arrested when he was fleeing UK as an ugly woman. I dont think it was his disguise that deceived the police, but I would have been in bad taste for them to arrest a woman for being TOO ugly. And he is an insatiable THEIF to boot.
Which way Nigeria?
This is the same man that was side by side with Jonathan during a church service in Aso rock recently. How can Nigeria move forward in the war against corruption when the leader is associating with ex- convicts and known thieves and corrupt individuals.
Which way is Nigeria moving on the war against corruption which is the result on Boko Haram, Armed robberies, cultism, kidnapping and many more.
AND YOU WONDER WHY PRES JONATHAN IS SO CORRUPT???
Same thieving family. Deri is one of their paid blogger, may they never know peace in Jesus name( Amen).

Is this also the fault of Northerners?
@ Comos
No Comos, I think the best thing would be for US to hold on to the money if Nigeria is indebted to it. It should be subtracted from whatever sum is owed US. That way, at least we know some lunatics can never have access to the cash.
Please please please
Please please please, USA MUST NOT return the money to Nigeria. If they try to do so, the money will not even get here away. It will just be diverted back to another private foreign bank account another politician. I would rather USA keep the money for the trouble they went through in securing the funds.
If Nigeria government is serious about anything, it should prevent such funds being stolen and leaving the shores of the country, and punishing the culprits accordingly. Why do you want to benefit from the justice system of another country when you refuse to implement justice in your country?
Banks and Central Bank of Nigeria are equally liable.
How did this fund get laundered? I bet Banks and the Central Bank have cases to answer. They abetted the massive plundering of the economy. Woe betide our CBN Auditors. They did nothing but eat lunch and collect fat envelopes from Banks, while they watch the economy collapse. A nest of corrupt fraudsters.
Did they ever query the account documentation? Did they try to unmask the veil or did CBN end up allocating funds to ghost entities? There is so much rot in the regulating bodies particularly C.B.N & N.D.I.C.
This thief once said it was
This thief once said it was God who instructed him to appoint this big thief as deputy governor then. He mentored him on the arts of stealing. Now he has graduated into bigger thief. He mastered the arts better and smarter than his boss!
Make una just cool oooooo.
Make una just cool oooooo. Dem go soon open Jonathan Yansh too. Then we go know how much Jonathan have looted too. If Jonathan think that, hes free too, is a lie. Jonathan and his old cargo wife go soon be busted. Jonathan I asure you that, you can never go free. You go vomit all the money you steal oooo.
until farouk is put behind bars--alams is a Saint
That is nigeria for you! They claim Farouk Lawan is a Saint. He was set up by Janathan and the PDP machine. Not Alams the Ijaw clown. As far as they are concerned Alams was not set up by OBJ. Unaware that Alams was not a poor man b4 he joined politics. Nonetheless all must be treated equal before the law. Orji Kalu, and Atiku have houses in the USA. Nothing happenewd to theirs. Its only the ijaw mans property that is now attracting bees to it. Tribalism abi? No call it regionalism. Until you put Farouk among other fuel subsidy thieves from the old region behind bars-we shall continue to regard Alams as a victim of OBJs vindictive politics in the South South.

ThatiswhythepPresidentwillnotdclarehisassets.
And where's Alams now?
In Aso Rock. In fact, Dumbo still calls him : "my oga'. Tiefs from the same state tief together. Anenih, Azazi, Asari, Tompolos and dumbolos, their grand-daddy Clark, the aborigines should be gathered like snails and sent back to Papau New Guinea where Luggard discovered the slimy creatures.
SERAP should sharaap! They don't even know the 'ablauf' for filling such request. Besides, where were they since we've been calling on Dumbo to pay his taxes. They're just seeking relevance and should be ignored.
Alams is Deri's brother.
Alams is deri's younger brother. In a moment you will read deri telling you about Buhari, Bakare, bla bla bla about America wanting to steal their oil. Goathead!
IS THIS ALL? HE HAS MORE.
That is a mere tip of the ice-berg. He is loaded. He has more. They should help us move against the rogue.
