WikiLeaks: Jonathan Responds To The United States
President Goodluck Jonathan has challenged the United States account of the events that took place in the turbulent period leading up to his assumption of the presidency last May, calling the account of Ambassador Robin Sanders “essentially third party narratives, and are largely inaccurate.”
In a WikiLeaks cable on Nigeria which SaharaReporters broke yesterday, Ms. Sanders, reported to Washington on her meeting on February 26, 2010. The cable portrayed a troubled Jonathan who seemed unsure of himself and where the country was going, with the US ambassador offering advice on how to proceed on such issues as Umaru Yar’Adua’s incapacitation, the military, electoral reform, and Olusegun Obasanjo.
In Jonathan’s response to our story, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ima Niboro, dismissed Jonathan’s meeting with Ambassador Sanders as having been no more than one of countless meetings with different groups and people with different suggestions, stating that the account in the cable was “largely silent on these suggestions.” Jonathan did not say what suggestions he received from those other groups and individuals.
He seemed particularly irritated by the suggestion that he was not equipped for the position in which he had found himself. In the cable summary, the US ambassador wrote of Jonathan as follows:
He said he is “not a politician” and had very limited experience as an administrator, but concluded, “I will not tolerate a brawl.” Jonathan said he will dissolve the Cabinet once he knows people are more comfortable with him being the Acting President or if the current strategy to convince Yar’Adua surrogates and family members to allow the ailing president to resign.
In Jonathan’s response to that characterization, he said, “how can it be said that a man who had been a Deputy Governor, an Acting Governor, a governor, a Vice President, and then Acting President could have described himself as “lacking in administrative experience”. That the President holds a Ph.D, was a lecturer for 10 years, and was an Assistant Director at the defunct Oil Mineral Producing Areas Development Commission, do not make the statement less rankling.”
Despite this outrage, Mr. Niboro’s response was silent on the fact that Jonathan did tell the US ambassador:
“I was not chosen to be Vice President because I had good political experience…I did not [have such experience]. There were a lot more qualified people around to be Vice President, but that does not mean I am not my own man.”
He was even more silent on the bigger picture, which includes running for the presidency in 2011. The leaked cable shows that, just as he would later tell President Barack Obama when he visited the White House in April 2010, “his sole focus is to leave a legacy of both electoral reform and credible elections, including changing the entire Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).”
At that time, at the end of February, Jonathan seemed keen to convince the United States he saw his mission as simply to clean up Nigeria’s electoral process, a point that was repeated again and again to Ambassador Sanders:
• Jonathan said he does not anticipate standing for elections in 2011 and that he is not working towards being a presidential candidacy. He wants to put into place an electoral structure that will be ready for national elections. He did, however, note that, “if they want me to run, that will be something to consider at that time.
• He stressed that his focus now and for the next 12 months will be on “doing a good job and witnessing respectable and credible elections in 2011.”
During that visit to the United States in April, during which he attended the Nuclear Summit, Acting President Jonathan also repeated this promise on various occasions, along with his determination to battle corruption. One such stop was at the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR) in Washington DC.
“I have promised Nigerians and the rest of the world that 2011 elections in Nigeria would be credible,” he said at the CFR, pointing out that he considered himself “a victim of [presidential] elections that have been questioned.”
Stating that his focus would be on electoral reform, delivering peace dividends to the Niger Delta and the rest of the country, and combating corruption, he declared, “… I can promise Nigerians and indeed the American audience, that 2011 elections in Nigeria will be credible. You don't need more than one year to achieve that. If I don't, even if you gave me 10 years, I cannot achieve it.”
Yar’Adua, whose disappearance to Saudi Arabia in November 2009 in poor health pushed Nigeria to the brink of a constitutional crisis, died on May 5, 2010, paving the way for Jonathan to become President. Four months later, in September, he publicly declared he would run, and immediately became a player in a match in which he is also the referee, linesmen, and commissioner.

ON WIKILEAKS AND ALL THAT
Wikileaks is the new travesty that international diplomacy has to deal
with. Nigeria is no exception.
The point to be made is that the accounts of meetings between
President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and US diplomats are essentially
third party narratives, and are largely inaccurate.
The President, in those tempestuous days during which the nation
tottered on the brink, held meetings, and then more meetings, with
different groups, the diplomatic community inclusive.
The President met with different diplomats and special envoys who
offered different suggestions on a way out of the impasse that our
late leader's health had imposed on the nation. We note that this
account is largely silent on these suggestions.
Instead, what is served up is an unfair account severely impacted by
selective perception and individual expectations. For instance, how
can it be said that a man who had been a Deputy Governor, an Acting
Governor, a governor, a Vice President, and then Acting President
could have described himself as “lacking in administrative
experience”. That the President holds a Ph.D, was a lecturer for 10
years, and was an Assistant Director at the defunct Oil Mineral
Producing Areas Development Commission, do not make the statement less
rankling.
This only goes to show that the report itself is a souped up version
of the standard conversation that takes place in such meetings. We
find this account as wholly unfortunate, and we are only employing the
best of diplomatic finesse in that statement!
Ima Niboro

LONG LIVE NIGERIA!!!
Dearest Nigerians, lets agree that democracy is good and affords us a lot of freedom of speech. It is very pleasant to hear people air their views on issues that would not have bothered them some years ago, Not because it does not affect them but because they had given up hope on the country called Nigeria. “WE CAN NEVER GIVE UP ON OUR COUNTRY” Permit me to digress a bit, I do not join issues on matters that are anti Nigeria.
Just as a fellow Nigerian Pointed out, there is a fatal imbalance in local governments and constituencies that makes up regions in this country. This gives room for power and decisions affecting the entire country to be favouring the same set of people who have held this nation hostage for long .This must be the first assignment for the Law makers to correct.
This will bring about true Federalism, kill the issue of zoning, open the peoples mind to a ONE NATION, allow for the best qualified candidate to rule this nation, stop political violence and chase away criminality etc. The North has been in Power for over 30yrs and yet they are the most Educationally disadvantaged, they have highest poverty rate in the country, they are medically backward etc. WHAT DOES THIS MEAN..? for over 30yrs in Power!!!. All their Leaders are very wicked and self centred. They have systematically used poverty and illiteracy on their People and Nigerians in general, but not without the help of few Leaders from the South. I salute the courage of some fearless Nigerians who have in one way or the other fought against this tyrants. I am a Product of free education till primary school and cannot stop appreciating its impact on myself and all that enjoyed it.
How can you explain that people sit in the comfort of their houses with a security guard he does not know where his village is or true relationship with the hausa man that introduced him to you. Yet lives and property of very wealthy southern Nigerians are left under their care, and somebody tells you that the North has Hatred for the south and vice versa “IT IS NOT TRUE”. Is Atuku not aware that his people needs education before embarking on a university for the extremely rich?? Does it look like he wants to eradicate illiteracy ??. Does he want power at all cost or he wants to join in the development of this great nation??
We want a true and decent Nigeria and not a zoned Nigeria that is always at the verge of collapse anytime there is power struggle among the greedy and criminal minded Leaders. We must continue to put pressure on President Jonathan not to negotiate the lives of Nigerians with a few PDP criminal Leaders and to quickly denounce corruption genuinely. We understand he is faced with not only human beings but most of them being demonic. It is the Job he has chosen to do and must protect Nigerian masses. Everybody must continue to put pressure for the president to stand on the promise he made to Nigerians when he took oath of office with Late president Yar Adua for four years tenure in office, as Nigerians pray for him to do another four years with Sambo. A second tenure that would have sent all these greedy old men into complete retirement and allow FOR A NEW NIGERIA TO BEGIN.

Jonathan and Wikileaks
That Jonathan and his men responsed to Wikileaks exposels the imaturity and incompetence of his presidency. All over the world the response to the Wikileaks disclosures has been WE DONT RESPOND TO LEAKS. but trust Naija people, they have to show that their president is an angel, and everybody is a liar! They have simply exposed themselves as inept.
@ Niger Delta Girl
Pls, reveal ur true identity and give ur comment some measure of truth! Jonathan, whether u and those whose views u front agree or not, has redefined some approaches to 'The Prince', which is to play the fool. Over assertiveness has been proved to be the cheapest approach to power and it has many draw backs, and sometimes its tragic consequences are enormous and regrettable. GEJ is a master of the game. Whether we like him or not is another thing. Whether he has the brain of Einstein is a different matter. Read thru' Nigerian history. Those who prance within the corridor of power with the alertness of their minds on their shoulders always find themselves out of the scheme of things! While Nigerians where praying for Umaru Yar'Adua, Turai and her linkmen -including Aondoakaa- were playing gods and goddesses. But the man of the moment was calm, to the point of being aided by the gods to the throne! Pls, Nigerians think! GEJ lacks experience- yet he was Deputy Governor, Governor, Vice-President, Acting President and President! While we here give him the length of our tongues, his formidable campaign train is cruising with the strength of a locomotive train across the crannies of the Country! And u are shock with a shout: Where are the oppositions? Experience indeed!
•
Nonesensical
@ofofo, What administrative experience did Babangida, Abubakar, Shagari, shonekan, Buhari and even Obasanjo have in their first attempt that is better or equal to what GEJ had. Ofofo, your comment is out of place, in your own language, what is the population of Katsina to 150 million. Or is it not true that its is hard to administer a Local Govt here in the south than a state in the north? keep quiet ofofo.
Let trust this Great Nation to an experiance Leader Pls
But if i may ask, why should we entrust an office in the class of the presidency in hands of a novice, so somebody want to tell me, that out of 150M people, we cannot find tested experience leaders? it is a shame, no wonder Mr President kept on to committing blunders, here and there.
Can't we just trust this great nation in the hands of experience and tested Leaders? why are like this?. Dr Chugba Okadigbo once asked, for how long will we keeping on learning, and trusting the presidency in the hands of inexperience leaders. IBB once said the reason he wants to come back was because the youths lacked leadership qualities, and all Nigerians started calling him all sorts names, now havn't he been proved right by above revelations.
Maybe IBB got this information long before everyone here or better still after this conversation it was leaked to IBB by the same Ambassador, that prompted his statement.
For Obasanjo spent 8yrs, learning and at end of the day, he achieved noting. How can a man of almost 50yrs will be still be learning how to govern? after spending almost 8yrs as deputy Governor and a Governor, please this is an indictment that he lacked the experience to be leader, therefore, he should just conduct an election and leave someone more credible and experienced leader will take over Governance of Nigeria.
We are too backward in everything, what we need is a radical and experience leader to takes out of our present predicament, we don't need all this baby leader at this time so that we will be competing among the group of developed nations, we are too big as a nation to be termed a third world country. Look at how China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore are fast developing, and we are still here learning.
Let us tell ourselves the truth Jonathan is never the best man for the job, he is too gentleman to be a leader. Nigeria need a civilian dictator as a leader and IBB is that Man, let us forget about the past, and face the future. We need a leader who will stand tall and take some decisive decision without taken orders from an Ambassador on who should be sacked or appointed.
The leak
I want to think Mr. Niboro, the mouth piece for the president did not understand the import of the doc released by wikileaks, all the profiles mentioned in his response have little to do with the administration of Nigeria state, what is the population of Bayelsa state as whole in comparison with leading 150 millions Nigerian of many tribes and we all know that while the late president Ya'ardua was in power, the vice - president was not in any way close to the affair of running the country, has Mr. Niboro forgot so quickly, if the then vice - president Goodluck was part of that administration in the real sense of it why was he not handed over to before his boss left for treatment in the king's hospital in Saudi Arabia. Mr. President Spokesman needs to know that, you cannot always win in a battle but when you lose, it should be a learning point..... I do not think that a sincere confession by dear president Goodluck Jonathan as at that time means weakness or inability to lead our great nation, he only meant that he needed help and Nigerian had helped him to ascend the throne of Nigeria presidency by the resolution of necessity....we will get there someday. God bless Nigeria
The issue here is that
The issue here is that President Jonathan was quoted as making certain statements. These statements are quite clear and are in impeccable English. Mr Niboro has added his own version to the report by bringing up President Jonathan's antecedents which were not discussed in the meeting with the diplomats. One thing is therefore clear and that is, that it might not be denied that the president made certain statements, such statements, or related statements. Admittedly, the president could have made any of such statements in error or out of pressure or probably without recourse to the normal trend of thinking before making a statement. It is unfortunate that such statements have been leaked but I wonder what the diplomats in question would stand to gain if they knowingly or wilfully lied against the president. Rather, those diplomats could be fired by their principals if the latter found out that the diplomats said something false against a foreign leader.
Mr. Niboro, I don't envy your position in this matter for you are doing your job but your representation is not different from what happens in government circles: a spokesperson coming out to deny any statement or attribute associated with his/her principal if such statement is adjudged damaging. Readers are discerning and they know where the truth lies in this circumstance.
But, come to think of it, is it a crime for a president to admit his failings? Even leaders of great nations have taken up the mantle of leadership as greenhorns or complete novices in administrative matters but yet come out great after a stint of tutelage on the job. What most leaders need is a team of seasoned, intelligent, experienced and able aides in the home front and in the diplomatic circles. In my view, I don't see anything damaging in this report; the outcry is only a case of crying 'wolf'. In any case, by the time the next election comes up next year, Jonathan, if nominated by his party, would have garnered much administrative experience to convince the voters to stand by him. Some of the people he would face in the party primaries are those that have been at the most, 'elected vice-presidents'; but he, Jonathan, is a sitting president.
Please, you people in the presidency should not make a mountain out of a molehill.
Lets do away with TRIBALISM!!!
Clearly, you have just shown to us why YOUR POST should not be regarded. Why will you think Atiku to be a better president?! What are your yardsticks? Someone who because of his crave for power has wondered across parties, made enemies and as far as am concern, can not be trusted. You said something about a president not attending commissioning of a local radio station? I think you should engage your brains before your mouth. Is the presidency not a public office? Where else should he be if not in such places. Have you not seen Obama playing basketball in public? Thats democracy! Leadership!
"EXCHANGING WORDS WITH PPLE" Are u a joke? What will you call democracy if the followers cant access the leader?

@sule bello
If i may ask where did Yar'dua school and where did he get married ?,it is within the north. we should stop using derogative words on people and learn to respect elders not just mr president alone. for nigria to become what we are yearning for, it will start from the family.honestly, majority of comment here reflect the decay in most famly. if the family is corrupt what will expect from nigera(the larger family)

jonathan, the right man???
Events over time have shown that GEJ he is evidently inexperienced and has so far not shown the kind of capacity, aptitude and propensity required to govern a complex and dysfunctional society like Nigeria. This rebuttal of the wikileaks report and the denial of attempting to bribe Pastor Bakare is a clear demonstration of this ingenuousness. This is a report of international repute. It is only in Nigeria that leaders have excuses for their ineffectiveness, rather than apologize and make amends.
minister of entertianment
for the past few months, from 1st oct bomb blast to this wikileaks, all GEJ did was to defend himself. i have never heard of a president stooping so low to exchange words with pple. i mean he should be professional. it is obvious to us, Nigerians that he is best at attending and organising parties/anniversaries. i meam how can the president of a nation attend the commissioning of a local Fm Station, alone with the gov. of the state only (HABA), he could just have appointed the minister of information. i think he will do better as THE MINISTER OF ENTERTAINMENT. even his campaign advert says that.
we need a matured serious minded person for president. atiku is the man of the moment. he should be given a chance to prove himself. aterall, what has GEJ done so far for the country other that organisning N50.0 billion 50th annivesary, silverbird 30th and Kenny Ogungbe Fm Station and the party done in his hohnour at Bayelsa State.
he doent even look like a president to be honest.

One irrefutable fact is that GEJ is a very weak leader and he lacks the political will power to take a decision and stand by it, come what may. His actions or inactions are his greatest undoing which will definitely count against him.
wikileaks
Mr Niboro please don't make the situation worse than it is already. First of all the wikileaks cables are not 3rd party as you wish to assume. There was a meeting between your boss and the American ambassador which the Ambassador has documented and copied to his colleagues and bosses in the States as his work requires him to do. The document is "Leaked" (assuming you have the slightest clue what that means), and posted on the net. Where is the 3rd party in this? The Ambassador or your boss? Second issue is, even the US have NOT denied that these leaked documents are official versions of events so why you? I know you jobs is deny, deny, deny but there is a limit to which you can make a fool of yourself and be allowed to get away with it.

JONATHAN WAS NOT PORTRAYED AS CORRUPT
Yeah, such of Wikileaks only portrayed President Jonathan as not to be over-abitious in which case only Nigerians can decide his fate if he stands to vie for president unconditionally as well as a true citizen with a genuine mind-set to better Nigeria's democracy if at all there's any democracy yet in political Nigeria...
Nothing as such debars him from going his guts if deems afterall proper to do, neither the constitution of Nigeria nor such undemocratic zoning system of corrupt, frivolous PDP Nothern political hegemony nor America nor any...OK!
time to talk and time to keep quiet
Whoever pushed president Jonathan to respond to the global wikileak crisis must be told to stop such childish acts next time around period.
As far as we are concerned Jonathan has proven himself capable of handling the affairs of the nation. The only problem his adminstratioin has encontered so far, is how to get rid of the cabal behind most of the trouble in the country since the British left in 1960.
Checkmate the likes of IBB, Atiku, Buhari and their godfather Ciroma who wants to arm twist him and his good policies to ensure that they force Jona to scamper back to the creeks.
Besides there is nothing in the wikileak releases that suggested that Jonathan is a weakling. So why bother to attempt to correct an impression that was falsely created by desk officers a the USA embassy. Pls Jonathan I want u to realise that in global diplomacy, its not every piece of imformation that your hamdlers must coerce u into responding to. There is time to keep quiet and a time to talk and sing in your local dialect. Obama became president of America without having the type of experience u have before he assumed the mantle of leadership. Thank God the wikileak chaps did not say u have loads of Swiss bank accounts like Atiku and your Turkish counterpart. For now all is well.
Be focused because most of the presidential candidates u are struggling with are not Nigeirans.
Nigeria is just their adopted country. I have been saying this for a number of months now. The same as the Fulani/hausa debacle.
Let the Ciromas show us the states or zones under the control of Hausas or keep quiet in the North and Southern trucks they have ben driving around to deceive and divide the country into two. IBB and Atiku claims the Zoning of the presidency to the North is in the constitution of PDP.
I laugh and laugh. I challenge IBB and Atiku to publish the part of the PDP constitution that zoned the presidency to the North for every Nigerian to read and digest.Soon we will be told that oil was discovered in the creeks with proceeds from groundnut. I laugh again. Cheers and Cheers till 2015. Che Sara Sara.
Embrace the Angel
This Angel of death is an Angel of God in the company of Angel Michael called Atiku sent by God to put an end to the activities of these demons you just referred to. God did the same in Egypt in the days of Pharaoh
Very obvious.
From what I have seen of this man so far, he is clearly inexperienced and has so far not shown the kind of capacity required to govern a complex and dysfunctional society like Nigeria. This rebuttal of the wikileaks report is a clear manifestation of this inexperience. Have his minders heard what the reports said of Russia? What has been the reaction from there?
Administrative Ineptitude?
In the series of meetings with the U.S. ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan did actually prove that he is a man of proven integrity and great humility, and that he is not one of those beasts, deadly cobras, dangerous pythons, devouring lions, sharks, vultures, under-dogs, etc who walk the corridors of power in Nigeria. Non-diplomats would take this to mean an admission of administrative inexperience in the real sense of it by this humble and unassuming Zoology lecturer. This is not the case.
The real face and mission of the U.S. ambassador to Nigeria Robin Sanders is Ann Pickard, top executive of the Anglo- Saxon oil giant, SHELL. Total deception, subversion and equivocation have been the real trademarks of U.S. foreign policy in the continent especially in Nigeria. This has given rise to complex political, economic, social, religious, ethnic and administrative problems in the Nigerian State that have defied and continue to defy every conceivable solution. The pitiable situation of the Nigerian National Petroleum Cooperation (NNPC) compared to the well organized multinational SHELL says it all. As determined as Chief Olusegun Obasanjo was, he, together with others before him, ended up a big failure.
In such meetings , Mr Goodluck Jonathan proved himself a wise man and a n experienced diplomat by telling the ambassador that the survival, unity, progress and continued existence of Nigeria is in the hands of the U.S. The U.S. is the oppressive, criminal and the colonial Federal Government of Nigeria. The Federal Ministries, the NASS, the Governors, the traditional rulers are their faithful and ever dedicated civil servants while the terrorists are their attack dogs. The Niger Delta youths, MASSOB, human right activists, etc, have discovered that, even before the CHEVRON top executive admitted it, that the Nigerian oil is drying up. And this has a very tragic consequence for their future. Today, they have decided to take their destiny into their hands but again they have been labeled terrorists and handed over to the Army.
On behalf of the teeming sincere fans of Mr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan who are committed to authenticity and not to sycophancy, I plead with our dear friend and role model in humility and integrity to “listen to the U.S.” and continue to be his own man by keeping Chief Olusegun Obasanjo at arms length, by shelving his presidential ambition ( which is another form of, this time around, “second tenure”) and go ahead to convoke a Sovereign National Conference under a pseudo-name (e.g. National Elders’ Forum). And again evolve a transparent electoral process that will have the power to bring an efficient administrator to Aso Rock in 2011. In a recent interview with THIS DAY Newspaper published last Sunday, Dec., 5, 2010, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar , like he did for Chief Obasanjo, generously identified one of these men of proven integrity like Jonathan himself but one who is gifted with an extra-ordinary administrative acumen in the person of Major General Muhammed Buhari (rtd). Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is actually a generous man but surely, in these perilous times of “administrative ineptitude” in Nigeria , he has no role to play. People like Buhari present a more forceful appeal. Atiku publicly admitted that, even as a soldier, Buhari has never been a dictator but a true democrat and a leader who has never ceased to take responsibility for his actions when he was in office. As a civilian, and with a TEAM comprising of dedicated and uncompromising public servants in the likes of Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, Prof. Dora Akunyili, Lamido Sanusi, Ngozi Okonjo – Iweala, etc Major General Mohammed Buhari will succeed where Chief Mathew Olusegun Obasanjo failed.
@ daretaiwo
Many thanks my brother. My sentiments exactly. Someone should tell that fumbling bastard, Niboro that speech is silver, silence golden.
He has embarrassed Nigeria and humiliated the President with this unnecessary denial.
MR PRESIDENT, SILENCE IS INDEED A VIRTUE
Whoever advised GEJ to respond to the content of the Cable has done him more harm than good.
US Ambassadors are not only career Diplomats but CIA operatives. They are trained to listen and relate whatever they hear verbatim.
I wouldn't be surprised if it comes out tomorrow that the conversation GEJ had with Ms Sanders was taped.
I defended GEJ on SR yesterday for his candor in his conversation with Ms Sanders.
I'm however, disappointed that he allowed himself to be led by the nose by his advisers to issue this lame rebuttal.
Silence would have been golden.
@NIGER DELTA GIRL, you are truly patriotic.
@NIGER DELTA GIRL, You are a true Niger Delta girl and a Patriotic Nigerian.
Those who have been here long enough knew how much I supported Goodluck on the BASIS of PRINCIPLES, against the CABAL. I can honestly say I have no regret for the position I took with all other Nigerians that HELPED advance that change.
Niger Delta girl, You have expressed my sentiment and thoughts about Goodluck. There is no doubt that he means well. There is also no doubt he was a good man. The way Events are presently rapidly evolving, he is starting to gasp as this political situation is too deep for him. Wikileaks came at an obtuse time. Goodluck had a natural role cut out for him. Unfortunately he unwisely chose an oversized 'agbada' instead of the measured out 'Dashiki' that fitted him so perfectly well. The oversized 'Agbada' clothing is no longer protecting him from the elements, but is slowly but surely strangulating him. The same cloth that should have been a shield has become a hindrance; an encumbrance.
Some of us may be termed 'idiots' for spending so much time agitating for what is right and lending support to Nigeria and Nigerians. This is only because that country has done so much for us. I will forever be a proud Nigerian, the Nigeria I grew up in, the Nigeria that made me who I am today. In my thoughts, I see Nigeria with such unsurpassed potential but in reality what I see daily is those Nigerians without hope and future and I wonder how did we get here, why did we choose this path? What got into the Psyche of those who should have led Nigeria to the promised land?
Every single leader that has led Nigeria so far was either not intellectually capable or got there inadvertently or got drunk with power and let the country down. Those who even had a slim chance to lead Nigeria out of the woods were rapidly cut down by those who work for foreign interest with the active connivance of local reactionaries.
My main concern now is how do we manage Nigeria in the next 6 months without the Sky falling down on an already hapless Nation. This is where there is a need for the so called leaders to meet and find a quick solution before we are all consumed by seething unmangeable anger and rancour.
Zoning is as dead as they come. Atiku does not represent the new and morally right Nigeria that we now all seek. The needs of the common man they are supposed to serve has to be met and now. It is in everybody's interest we get it right and right now.
Let anyone's OX be gored. Goodluck should do what is right or else it is obvious to those with astute minds that this country is once again slipping dangerously to that edge we just pulled back from.
This is not a curse or a prediction, it is just an observation.
Let me say it again and this is where I totally agree with Delta Girl, I can assure you that if the 'non-hungry' Nigerians vote in a true and fair election, practically 90% of PDP members will be swept out of power. The other choice is to continue with PDP ELECTION RIGGING GAME we have become so FAMILIAR with.
Any choice you make is full of inherent danger for Nigeria. But history will be on your side if you take the right path. For the people are now irrevocably pitched against their oppressors in PDP and there is no going back.
I, personally, shall continue to pray for Jonathan and Nigeria. Thank you all for reading it to this point. God Bless Nigeria.
jonathan/sanders/wikileaks
ACTION SPEAKS LOUDER THAN WORDS .HE HAS PROVEN HE IS EXPERIENCED AND THAT HE IS A POLITICIAN. WIKILEAKS SHOULD BE NEUTRAL AND NOT AN INSTRUMENT OF OPPOSITION
As a former foreign service
As a former foreign service officer with stints in Washington DC and several other Western capitals, I totally accept the truth as contained in the Wikileaks expose. It took a few people begining with Nasir El Rufai, Pastor Tunde Bakare, Yinka Odumakin, Sahara reporters, the medical analyst of the Yardua medical situation to spear head the push for the ouster of yardua before he eventually died. It took these people all the efforts in the world to convince Nigerians that Turai was a master dribbler. Even while President Jonathan was confronted with overwhelming evidence about the medical state of Yardua, he was too timid to stand on the side of history. He was too scared of the North to stop the dangerous slide Nigeria was going into. Rather he chose to play the ostrich game, he chose to kiss up to Turai, he chose to, as the political dispatch from the American Embassy said to be part of the charade. Dr Jonathan was too timid to step up to the plate. Even then, when this timid man was confronted with overwhelming evidence as to the grand theft and looting going on in the presidency while Yardua was comatose in Saudi Arabia, he did not have the guts to confront Turai and her gang. Let this man tell the world how and why he panicked and called for the assistance of the Save Nigeria Group the day yardua was smuggled back from Saudi Arabia. Frankly, his denial is an insult to all those who worked hard to see that Turai did not smuggle herself into power. Some of us are witnesses to history, so is the Embassy of America and now, of course Wikileaks. Even while he lied to every one that he was not going to run for office, he still cannot encapsulate his plans for Nigeria. Even while we knew he was untruthful to himself and to others, there were people who still wanted to give him a chance, those who wanted to help him succeed. He was too timid, too overwhelmed by the station he found himself to have his priorities right. Please do not get me wrong, there is no reason why this man cannot run for office. Forget the fraud about zoning in the PDP. The rest of Nigeria is not part of that shenanigan . The Wikileaks expose has only confirmed what we knew, what we suspected all along, that this man is a fraud and I regret every support I gave him while I thought his education will make a difference. He is confused, inept and totally lacking in experience and focus. His thoughts are pedestrian to say the least. It is what has prompted him through Ima Niboro who in my opinion ought to be fired immediately; to attempt a denial of the obvious. Jonathan is just slightly better than a village teacher in terms of exposure and administrative experience. His world vision is non existent. If not, he ought to know when to be diplomatic, when he ought to let some things blow away and when to respond like a statesman. This latest gaffe reminded me of his interview with Christianna Amanpour. His answers, his composure, his mien was unstatemanlike, and I was horrified. He sounded like the village idiot. This man is not what we need at this critical period in the history of Nigeria. I have had it with this man. We have tried to cover up his deficiencies while hoping he will acquit himself very well as a son of the Niger delta, but he has failed. I will not in good conscience be able to support this man any longer. He needs to disband his team, he needs to get serious professionals to work for him. He needs to get rid of most of his Ijaw clan's men and women whose only interest is to loot as much as they can. They do not even believe in him. I feel very sad. Lastly, Nigeria needs to get rid of the PDP.
This Nigerian officials are
This Nigerian officials are very very dumb !! , they always think they are smarter than everybody .Is Nigeria the only Country mentioned in Wikileaks ? , from USA , UK , RUSSIA , CHINA , FRANCE , SAUDI ARABIA , ETC, ETC , Which among them said anything ? . This is what happens when these so called Leaders appoint their buddies instead of Professionals . Their attempt to deny Wikileaks , only shows their foolishness and stupidity .
Lousy GEJ
Merely looking at Jonathan in the picture above with Obama will tell anyone that he doesnt deserve to be an elected president of any country (and thank God he never won any election before in Nigeria). Why Obama was cheerfully looking him straight in the eyes, GEJ was busy looking at the camera, too timid to face Obama, and top of that, greening like a he-goat. O lord!! How did this country end with this kind of character - no style, nothing presidential about him, he lacks carriage. What are his handlers doing?? Are they just busy stealing money why GEJ is busy making fool of himself and everyone else. To start with, did Nigerian Govt need to respond to this diplomatic leakage, this is not about Nigeria or PDP family affair!! And to imagine that the so-called response lacked depth and substance. What has P.hD got to do with all these?? Very sickening!! Bi oju o ti ole, oju nti ara'le oh!! ode!!
