PHOTONEWS: Group Holds First Anniversary Lecture to Commemorate
‘J9C’, coded to read 'January 9th Collection today commemorated last year’s nationwide Occupy Nigeria Protest through a public lecture.
The public lecture, held at the Sheraton Hotel in Lagos was delivered by a former Lagos State Governorship aspirant, Mr. Jimi Agbaje and had
in attendance some Nigerian entertainers and activists.
January 2012 became historic for Nigerians due to to the resistance from the once sleepy Nigerian populace to the abrupt withdrawal of fuel subsidy by President Goodluck Jonathan. Some Nigerians at the event today say the early part of 2012 remains indelible in their memory.
The "Occupy Nigeria" protests saw the largest mass protest ever in the history of mass action in Nigeria. Some of the protesters were killed by men of the Nigerian police force and justice is yet to be served to the victims.
SHAMEFUL
THERE SHOULD BE BETTER THINGS TO COMMEMORATE NOT A PROTEST WHICH WAS A TOTAL FAILURE. FUEL PRICES STILL ROSE FROM 65 TO 97 NAIRA, WHAT ARE YOU COMMEMORATING?
Nigeria struggle take new dimension
Nigeria struggle has take new dimension as struggle is been stage in a hotel.i cannt even recognize the identity of this elements.did any JAF,NLC/TUC,SNG,LASCO and other leftist in this gathering?Nigeria and armchair activists sha.solidarity oooo
Occupy Nigeria brain wave
Sad memory of how we lost an opportunity to redirect this country. We went out there to demand a cheap short term solution. We now go to a cossy hotel to celebrate our failure. Average fuel bought in 2012 was @ N140 per liter considering the adjustment on the miters and other fraud. I thought we should be heading to the streets now asking for the gain of the subsidy as the roads, electricity and even pensions are left unattended to. I seems that you only get attention in this country when you go violent.
Very funny indeed. The fuel
Very funny indeed. The fuel subsidy was indeed removed because we all bought fuel on average of N140 per liter in 2012 with adjusted miters, fuel scarcity and all other manipulation. I thought we should be heading to the street to demand the benefit of governance. I weep for the ignorance of the ruled.
Funny People
This a very funny set of people in a ridiculous country where people dressed up in suits and agbadas in an air-conditioned banquet hall to commemorate struggle and protest. Lol.
