PHOTONEWS: #OccupyNigeria-Netherlands Stage Protest At The Hague

Nigerians in the Netherlands participated in the two-week long #Occupy Nigeria protests. The peaceful protest (Occupy Nigeria, Netherlands) took place at the Embassy of Nigeria in the Hague, Netherlands on  January 24th 2012.

The protest was geared towards addressing the ills of the Nigerian nation. Protest organizers said the  protest is meant to address wholesale corruption in governance, the senseless killings of innocent Nigerians by Boko Haram, human rights abuses, the high cost of living by the newly introduced pump price of petrol  and much more.

Yorubas Pls Nigeria has other tribes and not only Ibos

Every attack on yorubas, a youruba claiming to be educated comes out attacking ibos forgetting there are other ethnic groups other than the ibos.
What is in this education if it doesnt help you in identifying all the diversities in Nigeria ?
Most so called educated yoruba names dont know the difference between Benin and Onitsha Or between Onitsha and Calabar Or PH and Enugu. There over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria please amnd heal yourselves of this hatred of ibos. No tribe can stop the march of progress of the others .Ask God
One in taking on attacks unnecessarily directed at yorubas the yoruba pundit, not educated enough to identify the voices and names of the various ethnic groups once he is satisfied the name is not hausa assumes the comment has come from an ibo.

Tribal hatred neither removed by education nor religion

Before annyoe calls for "Jerry Rawlings" solution, they should just take a look at Ghana today and tell me how much better it is than Nigeria.

@ KEN----------Who are you?

@ Ken. It is rather unfortunate that the word "Nigeria" in #OccupyNigeria fails to connote a sense of unity to you. I am Yoruba and while we all feel aggrieved at the levels of injustice meted out to Igbo people, this was an opportunity to stand united. #OccupyNigeria means different things to different people. You might be articulate, but unfortunately your attitude has distanced you from the plight of your fellow Nigerians. ~OccupyNigeria stands for change....Years from now, if this entity survives, it will live on in the memories of our nation....a legacy of the generation that said enough is enough. If the subsidy has to be removed...so be it but this time we need judicious managemnt of our "collective" futures.

@Ken Mani, Igbos are just too triba & senseless

What does occupy nigeria got to do with yorubas, are the residence of lagos yorubas only?. get some brain, the point of protest is about gov insensitivity to the plight of nigerians, how can GEJ spend 1B per/year on food, senators allowances more than those elsewhere in the world where they are good governance, are you using your brain at all?. one stupid minister touring west thought she could fool nigerians abroad, what was the tour about(waste of money).GEJ, should please resign Period, its end of time for those roughs

Ken you are a fool

Am sure u av been paid to write dis comments. This is not a yoruba thing, is a fight against corruption and bad government.

Ken and Vico

The problem of fuel subsidy or the removal of it has nothing to do with Yoruba or Ibo or Hausas but the government not being clear and transparent in their dealings with the people. When a government that spends millions of Dollars on things such as gardening, food and has 23 official bomb and bullet proof cars when its counterparts such as US and UK have 2 or 3 then decided to cut the little it gives in help to her people that is a national outrage which is what occupy Nigeria stand for.
A national cry against corruption at all level no matter the tribe of the culprits, I cannot believe I had to say that, a Cry against excessive spending by our government and off course against the total removal of the subsidy. Well at least for me that is what Occupy Nigeria stands for.

I hope one day we will move from this finger pointing era and realise that we are one.

This is really a shame

Ken and Vico

It saddens me to read both your comments, not because I'm yoruba but because at a tender age of 24 I seem to comprehend more than both your brains put together. Ken I am amazed at how little you think of your own people, we might as well praise for Boko Haram who throw physical bombs at Non Muslims, because your verbal bomb produces the exact same consequence. When will Nigerians start to think as one and stop differentiating between tribes, do we not hold the same GREEN passport? if asked are we not going to call our selves NIGERIANS?

@Ken Mani

Dear Ken Mani,

Are you so oblivious of the proceedings of the ad-hoc committee of the House of Representatives in Nigeria where is already clear that the issue of fuel subsidy has moved on to the matter of endemic corruption in the NNPC, breath-taking mismanagement in the PPPRA and amazing cluelessness amongst the ministers and complete confusion with what the floating cost of subsidy is which has now ranged from N250bn to the N1.7trn that was announced today?

Let us be just and honest in our attack of issues, without the #OccupyNigeria movement and the strikes the Nigerian government would have conveniently allowed for the startling revelations about collusion of agencies and the private sector to continue unabated and unaddressed.

I would aver that you are “the confused and poorly informed Nigerian” from your comment and if you refuse to be current for whatever motivation you had to comment twice here, that is unfortunate.

Ken Mani, I did not know that

Ken Mani, I did not know that there are still some few sensible Nigerians like u. Like in the days of Galileo Galilei when he alone stood against the whole world and was killed for it when he said the world was spherical. These "occupy" people demonstrating everywhere are under slavery paying out everything they earn to taxes and bills and yet work from dusk to dawn the way they would not in Nigeria. In Britain, this subsidy was removed this January and indeed it is every year. No body "occupies" London. U want your country to grow but you dont want them to implement what others are implementing that put them where they are. Instead of becoming name calling machine why dont we join hands, make suggestions in a civilized way, give information on BH and move our country forward. God bless u Ken.

Part 1 of 2: YORUBAS NOT JONATHAN ARE INARTICUALTE IN ALL THINGS

If the Yorubas are articulate they would have known that their so called "Occupy Nigeria" protest should have been structured to reflect their clamour for the operation of true federalism in Nigeria. Since Bakare and his Yoruba "articulate" kinsmen live in Lagos, they should have started with "Occupy Lagos" or "Occupy their respective Local Government Councils in Lagos". It is well known to all Nigerians that relative to responsibilities Lagos State earns and spends more money than the Federal Government. But for the flowers planted along Bank Anthony Way Lagos, all the trillions of Naira generated thru taxes by the Lagos State Government end up in the pockets of Tinubu and his mistresses including Fashola. Bakare and his Yoruba kinsmen should first “Occupy and Rescue Lagos” from massive corruption…..cont’d

Part 2 of 2: YORUBAS NOT JONATHAN ARE INARTICUALTE IN ALL THINGS

Cont’d from Part 1….Bakare and his Yoruba kinsmen should first “Occupy and Rescue Lagos” from massive corruption and misappropriation of public funds. Their success in this venture (Occupy and Rescue Lagos) would then be evident for all other Nigerians to see, emulate and replicate in their respective States and Local Government Councils countrywide. The successes in the states will eventually rub-off positively on the Federal Government. Am I wrong to say that the home based ideas I have presented here are consistent and align with the quest for true federalism? Now that’s what the inarticulate Yoruba are unable to articulate. No wonder that someone told me the other day that Wole Soyinka’s third class or pass degree and not the fluke Nobel Prize is the true reflection of the brain and intellectual capacity of the Yorubas.

@ken mani.Do you know meaning of fuel subsidy at all?

You are a fool and a dull brain, what we've had so far in nigeria is fuel price increase not fuel subsidy removal, fuel subsidy is a good thing if it's done properly where the poor have no bussiness buying petrol to power generator. Even at #97 Naira FG still subsidise don't you know fool? Therefore making life more expensive for poor nigerians that have to power their homes and work by generator and pay more for food stuffs etc, but you know nothing as i can guess.

WHAT A SHAME!!!!!!

These same persons that ignorantly insisted that President Goodluck Jonathan must restore CORRUPTION NEST otherwise called FUEL SUBSIDY are now the same persons that foolishly claim that their protest is "Occupy Nigeria And End Corruption" despite the fact that corruption is in their DNA. On the one hand they ask for restoration of CORRUPTION NEST otherwise called FUEL SUBSIDY, while on the other they foolishly call for end to corruption. A bunch of confused and poorly informed Nigerians indeed. Many, if not all of them traveled out of Nigeria with fake documents and posted false information in order to obtain visa. They should start by first "Occupying Themselves".
